Haha! But do consider making it wear off at some point. It's extremely difficult to be tripping as a toddler needing to locate food in an unfamiliar setting- very different than an adult with a backpack full of food amongst friends in a safe place!
What about a simple modification where A + B = C + D with probability p OR C + E with probability (1-p)? Hopefully it's not too difficult a modification to your existing system. Then you can do all sorts of interesting branching based on chance. Also if you make the probability p an increasing function of the age of the object, then that would solve your original problem (explosion of properties) by sidestepping the need for additional properties, while also addressing a frustration (objects breaking on first usage) by making it very unlikely to break when it's first made, but more likely to break as it ages. As a plus, that's more like how breakage works in real life- they get more fragile with age.
If you have the timestamp that the object was created at, you could make the probability of breakage a function of the object's age. That would solve the problem of breaking on first use.
Basically what the title says. Resets after quitting the game and restarting.
Thought you guys might enjoy this youtube channel where a dude makes things (lime, kiln, charcoal mound) using only materials found in the wild. I found it worthwhile and relevant to the context of the game!
I was lucky to be born in a prosperous city and spent my youth helping out in the bakery. When I was older, I packed a backpack full of freshly baked pies and took off to pursue my dream of making a snakeskin boot. First I needed a knife to kill the snake, so I wandered around and found an abandoned town with a decent forge setup and, more importantly, a steel file. After eight years of singlehandedly lugging firewood, transferring charcoal, and smithing, I had my knife. I then set out on foot to find a snake, not knowing how hard it would be to locate one. I wandered for twelve years before I found a desert, and finally saw my snake!
I crept up and quickly dispatched it with my knife! Heart racing, snakeskin in hand, I pondered my next move.
Somehow I didn't have a home marker so I was utterly lost. I headed back where I came from to try to find my city again. As the years wore on, I started losing hope. But when my face grew crinkly, I found the abandoned town where I forged my knife. I quickly found some materials to fashion my life-long dream: a snakeskin boot. I heard my ending music and regretted not being able to share my life's work with anyone. As my music drew to a close, I see a naked Eve with a child coming down the path.
"Where's the farm?"
"About to die
Want you to have this
Snakeskin! Very rare"
"Ooh nice!"
"Farm south
Bye"
I came here to report some problems as well, I some actions are duplicated (eating berries is especially noticeable) and once I teleported off the edge of the map. Server is currently at 65.
Thanks for the hustle!
Really enjoying the game so far.
Can confirm. I found I can usually fix it by speaking again, entering something short like "." and pressing Shift + Enter. Some of those steps might be unnecessary but this seems to consistently work.
Hope this gets fixed soon! Great game, Jason!
