#1 Re: Main Forum » [Corrected] - Temperature Update - Potentially not so bad. » 2019-02-17 18:39:56

Something I'd like to add after playing a few lives with a goal of making my diesel engine with the oil pump location in the desert.

1) Temp shock will stay in the middle as long as you make sure your temp is in the middle before you biome hop.
-this will require you to either stand on fire, fully clothed, and wait till its on the middle then hop into a desert.
-I spent 12 steel pipes to get that oil rig (thank you nonexistent luck...), so its definitely annoying to biome hop. But its doable.
-Only goal to biome hop is cactus / oil rig / rocks. Other than that, hopping should be done sparingly.

2) If a town stays in a non extreme temp biome (gras, sav, badl), they wont have to deal with temp shock!
     - just spend time near a fire, get you temp in the middle then do your tasks / chores

3) Firewood dont last that long.
     - It just doesnt last unlike before.
     - This will actually make you plant trees (for convenience), or travel for firewood. Very nice.

4) Rabbits > Sheep
     - Wool clothing should be the last on your list. They're not worth it unless the city is thriving with resources.
     - Knives get stolen often, and you need knives to clean your pen eventually.
     - Fleece is better used for Balls of thread.
     - Hunting rabbits are low waste options and are ideally easier to make with better insulation = convenience ratios.

I have played don't starve a long time ago and this is basically the same insulation strat you'd do during winter.
Contain your heat then travel.
The only difference is making fire is harder on ohol than dont starve.

Jason please, can we make a lighter at least?

I usually eve base one random servers and also noticed that clothes make a huge difference since this patch but not for long if a player stays on one spot.
I would agree that Eve-ing is harder than ever.
Getting that seal skin or early reed skirt is certainly a priority.

This feels like a setup for an update to make clothes using the loom.

PS
Since we can make diesel engines,
I hope crafting a heater or AC isn't too far off in the future!
Making use of a piece of charcoal / briquettes to fuel heaters inside closed buildings
or using snow for makeshift AC's!

Anyway.
I like this update.

So...I wanted to reinstall this game on my mac with the most recent downloadable release for mac (OneLife_v163_IntelMacOSX.dmg). Once i've 'installed' it accordingly into my applications folder, then started up the game so it can update, I get this problem:

cC444h2.png

I've checked the sprites folder, everything is there. One .txt and one .tga file per number sequence.
I've reinstalled this numerous times but still the same problem. I double checked if its custom server issue, its not. I installed the windows installer on my laptop and that updated ok.

Help? :C

Game is currently unplayable with Mac.
P.S. BTW, that .tga isnt the only one missing, game cant seem to read most of the 1200~.tga's.

These "666 people" look like bots....>_> They behave like one.
There cant possibly be 1 person in ALL 15 servers spamming 666.
Most of these are 666 Eves.

They are, however, preventing people from being reborn in camps on other servers.

True, mending items should definitely be a thing.
Or recycling. Like being able to use rotten baskets as part of the compost tree.

Or maybe have more resources added in general. More renewable stuff.
But yeah, as of right now...organizing is a pain in the ass.

Small towns are definitely the thing right now.
Less people = Less clutter.

I just want to say that i really love the game.
When the decay update happened, i really didnt mind it at all since i was used to playing games like “Dont Starve” where items had durability and a rotting mechanic (lol pls dont add it yet).

However, The biggest problem I had with the game was inventory / item management. It was hard enough to deal with people putting items everywhere, but now you cant even rely on those baskets that keep things organized. The update shouldve come with a different storage solution tbh (like stone / clay chests). The new update doesnt make the game unplayable, I just relied on other storage solutions such as wooden boxes (it takes a while though). Decay is good because if we were comfortable with baskets, we wont advance. BUT WE NEEDED MORE OPTIONS. XD

The next problem was finite resources such as minerals (rock, iron, etc.). I personally dont have a problemwith finite resources but they run out quickly, like legit way too fast now that we have durability on metal tools. I know the game is still far from finished so im sure rebalances are still underway.

Thanks jason for working hard for the game ~ <3
