The whining have not really been about the numbers of developers, but some parameters saying how long it takes for something to break.
I'm totally fine with decay, but not at the rate that was introduced.
My feeling is that this is also pretty close to the feelings of others who have complained.
As Turnipseed points out, carrots live for two years. The first year gives us the carrot, and the next year the stored energy is used when the carrot sets flower and becomes a small bush with hundreds of seeds.
Only thing that's really needed is to turn down the decay a few notches. Would also be nice to be able to repair stuff.
And this "everything runs out" thing should be abandoned. It should be replaced with "everything runs out if not maintained" Steel tools should be recyclable. Maybee not one to one, but at least two to one.
Harder composting is ok I guess, as long as it's in principle infinite.
So basically - slower decay and ability to grow trees and repair/recycle.
