I was in a village of jungle people with no more oil and we had some ice people around. Unfortunately none of them understood how to get oil, or even that we wanted them to read our note asking them to get oil.
I do not blame them. I have never found the process of oil drilling very interesting gameplay.
The problem with this update is that people who A: know how to get oil B: want to get oil and C: want to bring it to your town consistantly are not very common. And then there's the domino effect if they die out.
I know there are a lot of players who who want this game to be more challenging (probably while using an OP mod), but I feel the game is getting pretty boring if I am limited to a few tasks. And that only gets worse if my town is dying out and I can't do anything about it.

Wouldn't it be more logical to make it take time to build up a skill in your life? This would make players be able to choose a specialism they like without /die. It could also be interesting if the learning process could be sped up by learning a skill from elders (though I'm not sure how that would work). This would prevent a lot of suicides and takes away the understandable political issues with your plan.
Personally, I think limiting races to certain tasks is racist and could encourage forms of slavery. Thankfully I don´t think slavery is possible in this game however, because it´s easy to kill yourself until you spawn as a baby of the preferred race.
Dear Jason,
Thank you for making a great game. I have played hundreds (or maybe thousands) of hours and it was worth way more than the twenty five bucks I've paid. It seems that the endless fun has ended however. Yall have fun.
Goodbye.
