Hi I used to play this game a bit when it was in testing and shortly after release, and I had registered the domain onehourone.life - hosted a custom server there.
Just wanted to let people know that the domain is expired, not sure if you can get it right away or you have to wait a bit but if anyone wants that domain have fun!
sure!
check these 2 pages:

If there is a new version in one of these folders update that git repo. There is also a utility script for helping with this called "pull.sh" in at least OneLifeData7.
After you update the data repo you need to delete the caches. the pull.sh script does this for you, but the command is rm */cache.fcz in that folder (be very careful with rm command cuz it can wreck your system if you input it wrong).
If there was an update for OneLife, you have to recompile the server. Just do the git pull in OneLife and then run ./configure and make again in the server directory of OneLife
The first time I tried to run 'git pull' in the OneLifeData7 folder to update the repo I got some issues with git saying I was not on a branch. Unfortunately I don't know enough about git to explain how to resolve this problem correctly, but make sure you're on the OneLife_v65 branch or whatever version it is. I was able to figure it out after some searching but then I had to fix it later because I really suck at git Remember you can check the dataVersionNumber.txt in at least the OneLifeData7 folder
Ok, I believe I'm all up to date with v64. Actually I think there were no data changes so even if you're still on v63 it should work, hopefully. Update on the main server if you want to be sure. server back online
Either that or Jason just pushed another update, the madman!
Server going down to apply update
V64 is not posted to git yet, false alarm. Don't update on the official servers til tomorrow when Jason updates git if you want to play here.
Server coming back online now
...
OK turns out I just suck at GIT. The v64 update is in the other repo , not the data repo. Gonna take the server down and then we'll be at v64 the latest! update your client
This means that you do not have the latest update. Turn off custom server temporarily and connect so it will auto update and then you will be fine
I logged on and I went to the coordinates where my base used to be. It was gone. I double-checked the coordinates and it looks like the map is wiped. I think you need to add your number after your discord like zenchess#1234.
My discord is Zenchess #3779 although if you go to the one hour one life discord i'm always logged in if you need to find me
Also , can anyone report in if the server is laggy right now? Yesterday it became laggy after running for about 7 hours or so, but restarting it fixed it.
Ok so it turns out there was ANOTHER update today. I'm going to update the server within 30 minutes from now (2:42 pm central).
Ok, server should be updated. Let me know if it worked this time without wiping the world. (make sure you update your client by connecting to the official servers , we're on v63 now)
ETK that is strange. I did update the server, but you shouldn't have been able to get coordinates before that. I don't know why the server would have wiped after I updated.
edit: Oh, actually maybe you're right. Maybe updating the server wiped it. Sorry about that. I did get better instructions from Jason on how to update the server so hopefully it won't happen again.
I like the idea of a sandbox server with hunger turned WAY down. I'll probably set one up tomorrow.
Alrighty, the server is updated and live again. Sorry it took so long, I got tripped up on something. If you have any issues DM me on discord (zenchess)
Someone let me know if the game world persisted among the server update.
Ok I am taking down the server to update the version!
Announcement: I am planning to update the server to use the new patch. If you've noticed any problems, you may have updated your client , the server is still running an outdated version.
I'm going to work on it for a bit and then update the server. There will be a small downtime for that within the next hour or so. If you see anyone in there please tell them about this change.
If you need to update your client just connect to the main server (no custom server) and it will auto update. But don't do it yet if you haven't already
Ok finally got it to work. Sorry about the downtime. Go to http://www.onehourone.life:8080/
and you can see the server output. Scroll up to freeze it (it scrolls by very fast) and figure out your player number (i think we're up to like 100 or so already).
Pick up a rock or something so you figure out what your player number is, and you should be able to figure out your coordinates somehow by reading the output.
edit: Easiest way to find yourself in the console output is to say something
Zeromus wrote:gnuhow wrote:For some reason all of my textures are very strange. Bears look like carrot plots and berry bushes change to dead goose ponds after I pick a berry. Also the ground looks like sheep wool.
Did I do something wrong setting this up?
Read my comment above about deleting your cache files.
I deleted all four cache files and it still has the same problem, none of the textures were fixed.
This is probably a mismatched dataVersionNumber , i.e. your client is not on the same version as your server. There is a dataVersionNumber.txt in the client's root folder and there is also such a file somewhere in the source of the server. Make sure they match. And like I said earlier, if you've bought the game you can update to the latest version by just logging into the official servers and your client will auto-update.
Announcement: Server briefly going down at 5:30 pm central time (about a half hour from now), so I can pipe the server console to a webpage. You'll then be able to find your coordinates by moving in game and checking with the webpage. However it might be a bit confusing if there are multiple people, but once you figure out what your player number is by doing something like picking up a rock or whatever it will be easier. The server will only be down for like a minute at most if everything goes well.
Edit: One more thing. If you don't want your login email to be revealed, please use a fake email for server login.
The utiity I used didn't work well with the game. I'm going to try a different one. Server may come down randomly for the next 20 minutes or so.
Btw, if you spawn as an Eve, and die of old age, and then are reborn as an Eve (you're the only player on), you will spawn back at your camp.
This is actually part of the main servers as well except you don't really experience this on populated servers. Also someone told me that it doesn't always work 100%, sometimes it just spawns you NEAR your camp and you have to do a bit of searching.
Well, right now there's no big reason to use the server, I guess just do it if you want something different. The server also has no key checks so there's that.
I am in the works though of adding a few new features, so it will be a bit different than the official servers. I'm open to suggestions. For instance, I could change the food bonus to 3 instead of the upcoming change back to 2.
I also plan to let people have a better time of finding their base, so I'm looking into how I can let players know their coordinates. I may just make a webpage that echoes all the server console activity, or perhaps I can modify the server source a bit to put in a command for getting your coordinates.
There have been a few people using the server so far, like 3 people on at max I would say.
Turns out doing -200 +200 crashes my client but -100 +100 works. trying to get the map now
Watch TyrantNomad on twitch
Ok I got it figured out. Turns out I have to add each map puller to a list. I've added everyone whose been on the server recently, which goes by the email you have set when you logged in.
You should be able to map out quite a bit of stuff, and you'll see it working in the tiny client that opens up because it will move around really fast. I suggest using 256 for screenWidth and 144 for screenHeight but basically you come up with a scalefactor (say 5 in this case) then divide 1280 / 5 for screenWidth = 256 and 720 / 5 for screenHeight = 144.
You should probably be fine doing something like at least -200 and +200 because it seems to go pretty fast, but you'll have to live through it hunger wise. It will make a new image called mapOut.tga in the game folder.
hmm did you try changing the mapPullMode.ini back to 0?
edit:
I'll try the map pull right now
edit: Oh and change fullscreen and uselargest window back to 1
worst case scenario redownload the client to get all the default settings back
I honestly have no idea. Jason told me starving while it happens is an issue too. So uh, maybe start with smaller numbers and see if it works
Here's how you can activate map pull mode. Change these files and run the client, hopefully you don't starve before its done
I believe the center is x = 0 y = 0 you may not want to get too ambitious about how far you map
Let me know if it doesn't work, I believe I've activated it on the server but haven't tried it yet.
settings/mapPullStartX.ini
settings/mapPullEndX.ini
settings/mapPullStartY.ini
settings/mapPullEndY.ini
settings/mapPullMode.ini < change to 1
settings/fullscreen.ini < change to 0
settings/useLargestWindow.ini < change to 0
settings/screenWidth.ini < set to whatever resolution you want the images to be
settings/screenHeight.ini
edit:
if it doesnt work pm me with the email you're using for the server and i can add you to the list of map pullers
I asked Jason and there's a way you can download a map from the server. I believe I've allowed map requests for everyone.
I'll check into it and get back to ya shortly. I don't know if there's any other way to navigate but in the future I can code some custom server modifications. My idea is that a lot of people want to be able to go back to their old base, so I want to facilitate that.
Announcing the launch of my custom server! All players welcome, no moderation! To use, go to settings directory in the main game directory, and change the text inside customServerAddress.ini to www.onehourone.life and change useCustomServer.ini from 0 to 1. Game settings default except "allowMapRequests" turned on (if that does anything).
Server limited to 60 players, but I'm guessing there won't be too many people on.
Btw, if you spawn as an Eve, and die of old age, and then are reborn as an Eve (you're the only player on), you will spawn back at your camp.
Edit: Since I will be piping server console output to the web (so players can find their location), if you don't want to reveal your email please use a fake email for server login.
Current Server Version: (latest) v63
If you have purchased the game, you can connect to the official servers and it will auto-update your client
