Type or paste the following into your terminal, one line at a time, amending the path if yours is different (check version number, etc). Press enter after each line.
cd /Applications/OneLife_v58b/OneLife_v64.app/Contents/MacOS
chmod 744 OneLife
./OneLife
That last line should launch the game.
Deleting the game and downloading again from the server via your original download link may also work, but I haven't tried it myself.
Yeah something screwed up for me too.
I got it running, though. Try this:
Open a terminal window
cd to <your one life directory>/OneLife_v64.app/Contents/MacOS
run chmod 744 OneLife
Then to run the game
./OneLife
I'm all for natural sources of food running out, and I think the rate at which they currently
expire is working, but there seems to be vast expanses of land with absolutely no natural
food sources at all. Many times I've spawned as Eve and walked until I died without seeing
a single natural food item.
If we're running with the whole Eve thing then it would make sense to spawn Eve in an area
with an abundance of wild food. The fun part of starting out is managing your natural
resources whilst trying to climb up the tech tree. Wandering endless wastelands again and
again is really not fun.
OK so I tried the updating to the new version (v60) but after doing so the new executable
lacked the permissions necessary for me to run it.
v58
-rwxr-xr-x@ 1733812 27 Feb 04:29 /Applications/OneLife_v58/OneLife.app/Contents/MacOS/OneLife
v60
-rw-r--r-- 1733912 1 Mar 08:28 /Applications/OneLife_v58/OneLife_v60.app/Contents/MacOS/OneLife
After amending the permissions of the executable it runs fine. I'm not sure why the updated
version lands with the wrong permissions, but maybe this will help you figure it out.
Same here, OSX 10.12.6. I've tried deleting the game data and downloading a fresh install, but it made no difference.
