I presume it was you who cut down my tent.
I'll have you know they were meant to be cut down.
And it's already back up.
And I built a distillery in it.
And drank a beer to celebrate it.So while it is a "griefer's paradise" the damage is limited by how simple some of the mechanics are.
Tents go right back up.
Silk is easy to clone and impossible to get rid of.People wanted a sense of home, which is what I have given them.
They have named their towns, and return to them perennially.
Some people (like me) hang out in spawn and help the chaotic noob pit.Others have built wonderful villages that thrive for weeks on end.
Some of these are closed communities that do not raise children or accept outsiders. It's a matter of taste. I know the community is on you about griefing but it's really not an issue for us.
There will always be a place for people to gather at the center.
And there will always be distant bells ringing, calling you home.
Holy shit
This turns out to be a griefer's paradise. Two glorious hours with no consequences, and no covert operations necessary. The only thing the victims can do is quit and hope to be reborn far away from the troll in their next life...
Like I said, griefers aren’t a big problem in 2HOL because players have less to lose. Less to lose means less reason to grief. Trolls have nothing to gain there. In OHOL, it goes like this: “I just killed your last fertile female! Your lineage is forever done and you will never see any of what you all made ever again, and I did it all with one stroke!” In 2HOL, it goes like this: “Oh, you just killed my last fertile female? (EDIT: I just remembered that you can’t murdeer anyone, so you can’t even do this) I’ll just come back here later when you’ve inevitably died and/or gotten bored. You just ruined my crops? I’ll just come back at some point and fix it.” You can recover from a “raid” easier, because you live for two hours and you can recruit strangers (or folks from Discord, if that’s your thing) to join you in whatever you want because almost everyone spawns at 0,0, or at least knows which direction you need to head to get to whatever you’re trying to do.
Question:
If someone is messing with you, breaking the rules of your village, how do you deal with them? Like, if someone picks every carrot and runs off with it and hides it. And you catch them doing it. And you tell them to stop. And they don't stop. Then what?
That is the only reason that killing is present in OHOL, because I cannot envision how player-generated laws would function without it.
You don’t deal with it. Thankfully, griefing isn’t so much of a problem in 2HOL. Even if someone does grief a town, it’s relatively easy to build it back up, for a variety of reasons.
What is it about this game that attracts so many facists lol. They are nothing more than manchilds and i agree that lax moderation is the way to go since they arent organizing death squads or anything close to that, but lets all agree his apology is meaningless since advocating genocide was a sincere act from his part.
I know, right!? How did alt-right mouth breathers look at a game about cooperation and family and go, “Yeah, sounds like I could fit right in here!”
I actually prefer having mostly male babies in the game because I can’t trust female players to limit the amount of children they have, which almost always leads to a population explosion, and then famine, and then death.
Does the mod make the game easier? Sure, a little. But I would hesitate to call it “baby mode”. It’s still a survival game. Hell, I’d go so far as to say it’s closer to what I envisioned OHOL to become when I saw the trailers.
Right off the bat, I wanna say that I really respect Jason and the hard work he does. This post is not aiming to shit all over his creation. I simply want to point people in a direction that may hold their interest more (that is, for the folks who may not have heard of 2HOL already).
People have been complaining a lot about the changes to OHOL over the last couple weeks. I myself grew kinda tired of the constant grind in the lower levels of the tech tree and the constant murder, which is why I switched to Two Hours One Life. It’s a modded version of the game, and as such, features a different kind of gameplay than OHOL. Some of you already know about it and some of you may not. Either way, I know we all have a certain love (or love/hate) for OHOL, so if you find yourself abandoning the game because you’re dissatisfied with the changes Jason is making each week BUT you still miss the “good ol days”, I strongly suggest downloading 2HOL. Maybe play on there for a while and check back in with OHOL once in a while to see what new changes Jason has made. Take a breather.
Here’s a quick rundown of some of the differences between the two games:
1. It’s free!
2. Your life lasts until age 120, AKA two hours.
3. Murder is disabled.
4. Apocalypse and the auto map wiping feature are both disabled.
5. Decay is disabled.
6. Eves always spawn at the same coordinates (0,0) every time.
7. Lots and lots of new content, with more being added all the time.
8. Etc, etc...
Here’s the download link:
I got sick of the OHOL grind like two weeks ago, so I switched to 2HOL. It’s more fun, has more content, isn’t a huge grind, doesn’t allow PVP, gives you more time to explore all the content, and most importantly: doesn’t wipe the map periodically like OHOL does.
I’m fine with things decaying and wearing out after so many uses, it’s the containers I have a problem with. Makes the ground clutter waaaay worse. If he wants us to be making more baskets all the time then reeds need to be respawning a lot quicker than they do now.
If the game is running in slow motion (AKA not network lag, where actions repeat), then you need to reduce your targetfps setting. I had the same problem. Brought mine down to 30fps and the game runs fine now.
Join 2HOL. Totally fixes all the problems with the game.
Yes please!
Please no bolas or clubs. I’ve played enough Ark to know that those will be used by trolls constantly.

You just wait until there's no soil left in the spawn area.
True, that can be a problem. But hopefully by then your family has handcarts and/or horses. Assuming everyone hasn’t been murdered by that point, lol.
I like this idea.
No. I haven’t seen a single piece of a civilization anywhere, at any time, ever, since that damn update. It made the game less fun and went against the very concept the game was founded on. If anything, it should be decreased.
Here’s an idea: what if the act of killing someone just took LONGER? As in, the stabbing/shooting animation itself? You have a knife out, you click on someone to stab them, your body lunges towards them very slowly. That would at least give people time to react to attempted murder.
Please, for the love of God, don't balance the game around the 111 generation family.

I’ve been a guard in this game a couple times now and I can tell you that it’s impossible to do properly because
1. You have to have your knife out at all times. As soon as you put your knife away to eat something, dead.
2. You have to role play at least a little bit occasionally in order to get the lay of the land, make sure people are following the rules, etc. Problem is, as soon as you stop to type something to anyone, you’re dead.
3. Even if you see a murder happen in front of you, you can’t hit the attacker while they are moving (slowly or otherwise).
4. As I said before in another post, if a murder happens somewhere else in town, the attacker has gotten off Scott free by the time you can figure out who it was and where they were.
5. Even having multiple guards doesn’t fix the problem. How do you coordinate? When do you take the time to communicate with each other? Who goes where? What constitutes “breaking the rules”? All of this requires time and energy (and food) to settle on, and before your guards can agree, half the town is already dead.
6. No town can reach the point where they have a walled off farm/tools/smithing area because, again, murder.
7. Did a murderer just kill your last remaining fertile female or two? Might as well quit the game, cause that town is doomed anyway.
Killing a town is actually healthy though. It's an organic way of resetting, in the absence of the apocalypse.
From a player perspective you don't really experience anything different than being killed by a random snake unless you're meta-gaming and repeatedly suiciding to get in the same village, since the town's progress is a group effort anyway so nobody feels personal ownership of a town.If there's a real issue here it has to do with the new eve mechanics. Whereas before most new players were stuck in an endgame wasteland with a lack of early game resources and any way to learn how to build a settlement from scratch, currently new players that don't repeatedly suicide and/or use a 3rd party tool are stuck predominantly in the earliest stage of the game and having to reset to the same stage almost every time. It's kinda partitioning the already limited content and likely hurting player on-boarding.
Murders are just a gimmicky nuisance with unclear purpose for the most part. I'm not sure why they're even an option, but I don't feel it matters too much either way.
Civs collapsing entirely would be fine with me if there was a guarantee that the stuff everyone made would still be there for someone to find someday (even if it was days, weeks, months, or years later), but with the auto map wiping, that just isn’t possible. Which seems weird and unfair to me, since we were told this game would have persistence.
All it takes for a civilization in this game to come to a complete end (and thus get wiped automatically hours later when no one sees it ever again), is for a murderer to kill the last remaining fertile female. And if there’s only one left, then all the troll has to do is kill ONE person with ONE hit from a weapon. Doesn’t even matter if you kill the troll afterwards; you might as well just disconnect right then and there. This happened to me three different times last night in three different towns in three different servers. Who knows how much work when into those towns, how many hours, by how many people (including myself), all of them undone by one person with an action that take a split second and has no counter-action.
Jason, if you’re intent on leaving murder in the game, then this is what needs to be fixed: A) you should be able to kill murderers while they’re slow running OR while they’re regular running. Currently, they’re impossible to hit with any weapon as long as they’re moving. B) killers need to have bloody clothes/bodies after a kill (that they CAN’T remove) so that we can easily identify them apart from everyone else. Currently, after someone has been stabbed or shot, they run around screaming about who attacked them, and by the time everyone has come to a consensus about who it was that did the attack, the killler has already run off, hidden the weapon, changed their clothes, and their slow-down timer has work off. C) Players who murder a lot should be put on time out or shifted to another server or spawned as a male far, far away from any other people a bunch of times to prevent them from just respawning at the same town they just trolled.
I just played five games in a row where five different towns got wiped out by murder. Wow.
The more I think about it, the more I think PVP should just get removed outright. A lot of good suggestions in this thread but they all come with their own set of problems. In the meantime, the player base is hanging on by a thread these days.
Love this launcher so far! Only problem is that not all the custom servers are listed. Such as this one: https://onehouronelife.com/forums/viewt … 9063#p9063
