I recently got a real shitty town. Was wondering who else shares my pain.
You strike me as somebody who feels they know game design better than the actual designer with these posts. Keep it 1 new idea per post maybe? Your ideas can then be debated by the community and then Jason can do with them what he wishes in his own time frame.
Or, you know, just go design your own game and do all these wonderful things for your own loyal players?

For me I just walk around town for a bit until I find something the town hasn't done. First thing I find is usually neglected farms or lack of tools.
Their is only so much one person can fix. If the damage is real bad, I just suicide for a better town. If nobody else is doing anything its not worth saving.

Towns certainly seem alot less stable now, Keeping up with demands of the growing population isn't easy.
But I have seen several successful towns make 40-50 generations. In which most people are clothed even with a high pop.
Decent players can start naked but make themselves full gear by the time they grew up. Anyone kid I manage to get clothed as a baby seems to live awhile.
Even in an Eve scenario you can make clothes albeit it's more difficult. Still, You can skin mouflons.
But I don't know. Obviously new players aren't likely to be able to make their own gear. Only scraps from corpses or what others make for them.
Is it feasible to have a small surplus of clothing to give to newborns. Or is the game really too hard for new players?
I'm open to opinions.

I think you'd make a new profile to make it seem like somebody else agrees with you. You sure came pretty quick and responded strongly as soon as somebody suggested it.
Keep fewer kids but provide much more for them. Make sure they get clothes and a job to do.
I find that having many more boys then girls works out quite well. Boys will not overpopulate and are also good for "dangerous" jobs like hunting rabbits.
Had like 2 daughters, Rest was sons assigned to importent jobs.
Girls can't be relied on to do jobs. But each girl will have alot of kids, People are mistaken when they say having lots of girls is good for towns.
I can understand, Noobs had a time surviving even before this.
But at the same time I feel alot of people just go "This is too hard, Let's go home". Like they expect it to be easy to make a decent town.
people were really not happy when they discovered that i was able to change clothes and hang around town for so long minding my own business while some starved trying to find me in the forest and a person stabbed another trying to transfer a knife.
essentially, the town came to a standstill after the murder. I got at least 4-5 curses when i revealed to the munchers that the killer had been observing them this whole time. I got another series of curses when someone finally stabbed me. A random person healed me which got more people angry and more curses. I got stabbed again and got more curses. I'm pretty sure it was over 10
I usually only get a handful of curses while griefing, Never enough to send me to donkey town.
I guess because you made it much more personal and humiliated them for so long.
Kind of funny when people tell me I'm going to Donkey Town when I only got a few curses. Then I just use the alt to wipe them out when they think they won.
God so much bitching. You know that most new players had already been trying and failing to build in the green and swamp areas.

and I had an idea of having maids/grounds keepers in every building, to maintain fires, close doors, plaster walls, fur floors, stop locks, and help with the task in the room (if your maintanig a bakery you would help bake, forge you help forge etc.)so people will probably have more children!
Yeah well Goodluck surviving to that point. But by all means have as many kids as you like at that point. Without buildings or clothes you'll all just die.
The non decaying stuff will help a lot. Now we have need for a hunter job.

Clothes are limited, Especially early on. You aren't gonna be able to fully clothe every kid. Nakeds will just eat all the food and probably still starve.
So keep less babies but make sure they get clothes.
