Also, If people really want to play as eves, why not let them choose.

There are more people who want to be Eve than we need. If everyone who wants to be Eve gets to do it whenever they want then families won't last very long we used to have this issue and it's a bit better now since the change.

Nope.  More people are needed to fulfill the fudamental concepts of civilization building and parenting.  More people being an Eve and trying to start a family and build up to a town means more players likely to fulfill the fundamental concepts of parenting and civilization building.

This is just wrong and you know it, spoonwood.  There isn't close to enough players to support 1000 eves per day.  Unless you're a griefer who wants to have 0 births as eve.

I see one potential misuse.

You will start having some males do nothing but hang around the town's fire (like right on top of a woman there), or following a female constantly and doing nothing else, for the single purpose of spreading his genes.

I like the idea in general though

Sounds just like real life ;p.  Thing is people would sometimes murder those doing so for a variety of reasons (lack of work, blocking their own genes from passing, getting annoyed with being followed) and then, as often happens, standersby would subsequently discuss whether the murder was justified, or whether retaliation was necessary.  And I think if done to the extent you describe, would often be seen as justified.

Forgive me if I'm missing something, but as far as I can tell it is impossible to remove a backpack while it contains a war sword, you just equip the war sword instead, resulting in needing to drop the sword on the ground to take off the backpack. I also find it tricky/awkward to cycle through other items in the backpack while carrying the sword, I usually end up just alternating between stowing and equipping the sword, or only alternating between the non-sword items in the backpack. Can we have the sword interact with the backpack the same way other items do?

Fwiw there was an invisible hole in the fence on the bottom right side of town (Behind the corner pillar), at least when I was in this town yesterday before those towers went up.

Can we still make baskets with two straw? If so these changes seem like an upgrade to storage possibilities, something a lot of people have been asking for. Obviously some the new content, thread baskets and slot boxes, aren't particularly great, but I think there's more benefits here than negatives if I'm understanding this update correctly.

I'm leaning toward just stone walls on the list for now.  It would indeed be cool to find trees growing up through them.  The help a new town a tiny bit, but don't substantially change the early game.

Won't we eventually end up with stone walls just everywhere though? (Aside from a complete wipe)

Anyway, thanks for the update, this seems like it should have a positive impact on the state of the game!

Also I just want to say, as someone who's been playing since just before the pump overhaul update, I didn't expect to stick with this game, I've been on a survival game kick and I just needed something to do.  But what kept me coming back after my first night of not knowing how to help with anything and playing mostly empty-feeling lives (especially as a male) was the in-game bond you establish when someone takes the time to teach you something, or you work together to accomplish a task, or you raise and clothe your kids to prepare them for life and encourage them to help the village.  It can be touching to work together with the other characters towards the longterm prosperity of the village, knowing you'll never be back to see the fruits of your labour.  It makes it very fulfilling at times and very sad at others.  No other game I'm aware of offers this and it's what allowed this game to make an impression on me, it would be unfortunate to see it go if the game just continues to devolve into inevitable killing bonanzas every life.

Probably people getting their last minute Eve shenanigans in before the change.

Two things I think would improve the gameplay experience in general is longer lasting wells, and increased spawn distance for players. I get wanting villages to have a chance of running into each other, but I feel it has been pushed too far to the extreme. I believe eves will tend to spawn in areas near town that are likely to be depleted of resources already, leaving them little option other than to head into town where they know they will likely be killed. This incentivizes a griefer play style from eves whi likely are presented with few, if any, viable options.

#361 Re: Main Forum » Can we change how close Eves spawn to each other? » 2019-05-24 16:50:14

The one time I spawned as an Eve (I think it was shortly after an apocalypse) I laid some supplies down by my well site, went scouting, ran into another eve not far away. She followed me back to my well site where I found another eve there laying down supplies.  Since the three of us were unable to understand each other, there was no way to coordinate anything or communicate locations of resources. With three of us having kids we quickly burned through nearby food and died out.

Also I'd like to add that in general I'd prefer not to run into other towns, as the only thing I could see coming from it is war.

Are you from a different family or something?  because I have no idea what you're talking about

#363 Re: Main Forum » Miko Gold II » 2019-05-23 03:17:53

I appreciated you looking after me, I might have got murdered if not for your protection, like my Mom.

You were very kind and sweet, it was heartwarming.

I was lucky to hear some of your family speak when I was born so I could understand mostly.

I tried to give you some Rabbit shoes for your bare feet, but I don't think you understood.

My favorite was when I was asking you a question in the garden after you had been protecting me,

you told me you didn't "unzzuzzand" me very well, but I got the rest of the words and knew what you meant.  It was cute.

Then I fed you berries in the garden.

Unfortunately I got bit by flies while I was showing our daughter the village.

I felt really sad that I didn't get to tell you what happened and say bye before I passed, and worried that I just left you wondering

I was left hoping our daughter would tell you.  I'm glad you know now, and glad to see she survived and went on to produce many generations.

Thank you for burying me so thoughtfully.

With love,

Miko
