Let the naked revolution begin! No more clothes!
That just seems so ridiculous to me. Kinda going backwards in technology. There's really no point in wearing clothes anymore when nomading out of town as you risk yourself of dying of those pesky mosquito bites. So clothes are kinda useles from this on as towns are almost always build on warm places and theres plenty of food.
Well, guess ill make a broad walk with house containing chests full of different clothes and held a fashion show.
Clothes serve no function to me anymore.
I tend to use separate forge too for making coal and pottery. Main thing limiting the speed at which the ore is turned into steel is speed of coal production. As the crucibles need coal anyways. For every 3 ore you need to have one patch of coals. So if you really want to max out that steel production speed you should have atleast two extra forges pumping out coal constant.
Hmm just did some testing. Seems like you are just able to make it if you are naked and head straight to snow/badlands before the fever starts to rise. Guess my problem was that i wore clothes. So new meta no more clothes on suply runs.
I've got bitten two times now by mosquitoes while on the road and died both times no matter what i try to do. The first time i was a elder male probably something between40-50's or so and now as a 14 year old female, both times geared up with clothes. I could not do anything to overcome the fever solo. Went to badlands as there was no snow in sight, but still the fever just gets you. Such a shame. Waste of good gear just for a mosquito bite and those things are every where. Guess you just dont roam anymore or never wear clothes when roaming cause the fever will get you every time.
Better way to aproach this would be giving carrots rather than stick. When you introduce something which destoyes all your hard work people tend just lose hope and go on killing/grieffing sprees. This happened when the apocalypse was introduced. People lost interest to build things as thing would just reset out and everything you had put your hard work into dissapear into the void.
Main difficulty in moving out of the city is that people get dissoriented during the roaming phase. Die to animals, get lost or die of hunger. Portable high tech foodsourse with ways to move as a group would solve this problem.
There could be like a horse drawn wagon with places for passengers and a stew/kraut pot. Maybe you could even make a steel forge which would be horse drawn.
Im just so used to the horizontal that changeing it would be more of a mess than what you would gain from it. Also the horizontal is what you see most commonly used by. Why fix something which isn't broken...
Ye for sure you have to regodnize the right oportunity to learn things. In an eve camp you must be working to produce somekinda food (or nomad rope/iron runs)for the community so the smiths can smith, sheep hearders can build the pens and obtain bows and carrot berry bowls.
So i'd say the most important tip for newbies is to regodnize where you can learn a new high tech task...
in a big booming city
Well atleast i went down to 6 food bar, went super hot. Stayed at badlands the whole time, had food in backbag ready to be eaten, but no chance...
Pre boost mosquito bites were ez, but i understood that with the turkey update the bites were boosted a bit.
I survive being bitten all the time. Just keep your temp in the middle by moving to a cooler area if need be and hope your hunger meter was full lol. Also try to have food ready for when it goes away
Have you even played the new patch?
Imo, it's totaly fine to just watch and munch edibles(with variation!) if you are trying to learn how to do more compilcated tasks. Its much more easier to teach by showing rather than typing out a novel while controling every other aspect of the game.

Nah 8 is good. You can stack them so easily. Also people will curse you if you prevent the serial killers doing their task. I've been cursed few times cause i murdered a griefer and people don't realize that you are actually preventing the total anhilation.
If the curse points are lowered i will deffinetly not try to get the murderer, cause theres too big of a risk of misscommunications and getting cursed yourself to donkey town. Guess you don't stand for death penalty.
How can you tell a murderer is a murderer before he actually murder? Last time i murdered a murderer that actually murdered, people were quite happy with what i did.
That's the thing. You can't. You have to witness a murder to know hes up to no good. Sometimes the other village dwellers dont see the first murder happening and it leads to these situations where you are being accused of murdering when you have actually just laid down some death penalty for a murder. Usually people just panic when they see you with a bloody knife or bow.
Weapons can be used for the benefit of blooming civilization, so there's no way of knowing what's the intention. Usually you can see it though the way they handle the weapons. You don't carry out murder tools open at city (at least you should not...)if you have no good use for them.
Has anyone tested is it possible to survive mosquito bite in any condition without outside help?
I got bit by them on the road with cartful of iron and backbag full of food. Fully geared, strawhat, seal coat, rabit shoes, skirt. Was bitten at badlands so the temperature was almost as cold as it can be with those clothes and the temp still went as hot as the meter shows and i died.
Anyone tested that can you survive it solo, naked at snow with food ready to eat or so?
There should atleast be a litlle chance to survive it if optimized. Otherwise it just discourages roaming outside of city which is already a big problem with the ground iron nerfed. And those pesky mosquitoes are everywhere, not just jungles. Im avoiding the jungles big time when roaming. Its more dangerous than any other biome. Even snow biome naked feels lot safer.
I wouldn't be against reducing the donkey town requirement to 5 instead of 8. I personally think in over 100 hours of play i've never been cursed. so innocents being sent there is quite unlikely. I haven't really seen "troll cursers".

Murdering is in control atm imo. Atleast i haven't seen that much murder sprees. Ofcourse there is some cases, but it feels to me that its mostly just mistakes with knife or person just testing the mechanic. The donkey town punishment seems to be enough of a detergent for people not to do hardcore murders sprees. Yes new players don't know how to curse yet, but they also are mainly just berry locusts so there is still much to learn and we will eventually get there.
Besides its so easy to not get murdered. Just move and its pretty hard to stab/shoot you. Usually they miss and drop a knife/arrow to ground and you can pick it up and prevent the future tryes. Also never trust a person with a knife/bow comming at you to ask questions. It's what they use as a distortion to keep you still and kill you while you type.
There is a time for not picking the last berry, it's when your village has run out of soil and will be out of soil for while. Berry bushes don't wither while they still got berries on.
Feels like we are back in the ages of the carrot god. This time with berries. Make a berry crown plez.

Perhaps thats what he wants? In a way when you think about it, spending your life to bring iron to the town as your contribution is neat. Saying you are going out to find it, and might be gone awhile, to show up thirty years later with a cart/backpack+basket is awesome, albeit frustrating when its fruitless. But man, having everyone gather around and say holy crap I thought you died AND have iron to craft desperately needed tools more rewarding than to die an old person tending berry bushes.
The main problem is that its not fun. Its just mindles roaming and noone is willing to do it. Also i get that its supposed to be somewhat hard, but there should be nerf to the iron mines rather than ground ore. Even tending berrys is lot more interesting than walking 60mins in search of iron. Besides your point of cartfull of iron is invalid. There is no cart as there is no tools to make them.
Main problem is that ground ore is so scarse that you almost never hit the phase where you could actually do the mining kit to get acces to veins. And when you have to rush to the mining kit everything else seriously suffers. Theres no room to make hoes or even shovels if you want to acces that iron pit.
To be honest the magical number 8 is never going to happen. While you are searching for the 8 ores someone for sure will forge few hoes axes and other "useless" tools. So the number is in reality almost doubled as you are either forced to scout your entire life for 8 ores or settle for the middle way and forge as soon as you haul em back, in which point you for sure aint reaching the 8. Sure its easy if theres capable people actually searching for iron, but so far it seems like noone wanders out of the town safety. Or they have all their hands on getting the compost cycle running.
Smithing is absolutely crucial after the iron nerf. You really need to rush down to the phase where you can make the stanchion kit. Also you need these tools to get the compost cycle running. A shovel for sheep dung and depending on what you build your sheep pen out of then maybe a chisel and adze for stone blocks.
I usually build the forge to the desert spot at eve camp, reason being that you need to have good temperature to conserve food at forge before you can hit the phase where you can craft an axe. You tend to run out of kindling so fast. I'd say let the fire die after you have forged the pottery until you have atleast 2 irons to work with. Good tip for gathering kindling is that you can carry 3 short shafts/ small curved shafts in a basket and then make em into kindling. You can make them with SHARP STONE
I like to conserve the smith hammer too and use rock to hammer iron ores.
IMO most distracting things when smithing
-moving the stuff
-standing on objects
-using the forge fire as the baby fire
-people asking you to teach how to smith when you actually smithing, just open your eyes stay out of the way and learn by looking. Theres really no time to type your every action while rushing towards mining kit.
One life two irons. Nowdayes instead of setting up farms eves just go to scout iron so you can hit the magic 8 by 3rd generation.
Just spend half of my life roaming for iron on an eve camp. Found 7 iron in 30min... its just too rare. How are you supposed to even get to the pickaxe phase where you can make a mining kit.
For mining kit you need:
-Smith hammer, axe, adze, saw, file, chisel, froe and pick axe.
So all in all 8 ores if you skip communitys other needs like shovels and hoes. So if you spend most of your life roaming around searching for iron you'll probably make it there, but by that time the rest of your camp is on starvation cause people cant make compost or take care of the farms.
This iron nerf forces people who know how to do things on a mindles roam for iron instead of teaching people how to run the soil cycle and craft edibles. So by the time you have the irons, the new player base has cut down all the wheat, withered your berry plantation, seeded all the carrots and liberated the sheep so theres no need for any tools cause everything is already slowly decaying.
The main problem with iron being so scarse is that most people dont seem to be able to nomad outside of the town. Literally 80% of the folk just hug the city and do whatever choir they prefer.
Iron being so scarse and the fact that most of the people dont roam for resourses leaves the few capable players required to smith, make compost, roam for iron, roam for sheep, roam for rope. It´s just too much for one persons shoulders. Like if you roam for iron then theres no one to make the tools needed. Most dont even roam for rope and just waste 4 soil plots to get one. Literally one persons whole lifespan worth of food instead a 5min roam outside of the town safety.
People learn to go nomad. Pick a sharp stone, make a home mark with skever. Run out of town. --->water biome-->basket-->fill the basket with wild goodies-->knock a seal-->wear its skin-->pick some rope-->make a reed skirt-->pick some iron -->profit a blooming town with capabilities and resources to go in to the infinity.
Sharp stone op, nerf it pls.
None of the noobs can make a hatchet after leaving the tutorial but they ALL seem to know the emotes. Running is also very annoying, my motto stay where I put you or die (unless I really really need you).
Feel free to murder me everytime then, one pair of capable hands less. Bet you are the kinda mom that nags about everything and overfeeds constant... complains and gets toxic for babyes trying to dodge your overfeeding by moving around.
First one could be: Don't take ANYTHING from the forge.
This! Forging is enough of a job when everything is arranged. Also the forge fire ain't the place to grow up all your litlle babyes.
