I hate to be a slave to trolls.
I feel rebellious.

How the algorithm works?

You have a higher gene score than your daughter so you lose more points from early deaths, and gain less points from long lives. Your gene score is higher so the game's expectations of you are higher as well.

I haven"t lost from my death ( I lived to 60 and gain  +0.31 ). I lost from  HER  death  more then she. (and she gain from my life more then I)
How do you explain this?

My daughter decided to starve at 11.

I was punished by her death loosing  -0.67. and she lost only      -0.50
I as her mother lived to 60 and got   +0.31 and she got from me +0.47
                                                     ______                             _______
After this game  -                      I :   -0.36                    She  :    -0.03

How is it possible? 
How the algorithm works?

Our kids are not children.  They are adult people.  I am not their babysitter.

I am  fed up with  loosing points from starving kids.

If they don"t know how to eat  their place is in tutorial.
If they  want to starve  their place is in "Donkey Town".

I become creepy uncle two days ago (I tried to yum food) I manage keep alive all my family members but most of them died few minutes after me.

In next life I found another strategy.
I had 6 kids within 2 min.  other mams also put their kids next to fire. I spam all the time    DON'T STARVE KIDS     REMEMBER TO EAT      STAY ALIVE    DON'T STARVE KIDS  and ....  one of my sans starved  next to fire  so I cursed him using his name  I CURSE X Y.
Reaction of kids : "?"   "WHY"  "?"
I : Because he starved!  Don't starve kids.
After this town was fool of kids  everyone with berry or carrot in hand.  Even twin of my cursed son didn't dare to starve.

Maybe  build  the Main Road half way between two most advanced towns.
They will try connect each other so in natural way will be also connected to main road.
The new one will start down the road.

This way we will avoid the trap of one big bell town surrounded by dead settlements or cluster of bell towns competing of natural resources from the sames bioms and looting each others with many occasional killings and wars.

The price for triggering apocalypse should be higher.

Maybe sent him for xx hours to Monkey town  or even better  create a new kind of curse " I CURSE APOCALYPSE TRIGGER" which could be possible for all apocalypse witnesses and those who are born within one hour after.

+1 on Punkys suggestions, but unfortunately Jason wont  do anything to make apocalypse harder because it suits his vision of the game.

Apocalypse hits us more painful then reset of the map. We are scattered in camps far away from each other. If one of two essential races died out  new Eve who represent them will spawn  thousand tiles away. This will set us in dry deep wells civilization (In other words - medieval )

Tool slots and new genetic score system adds another problem.
To start proper Eve camp you need 2 veterans or 3 semi advanced players. After previous  apocalypse we set record 78 kids born to one women and lost 17 score points in one life.This time might be worse because OHOL is on sale.
Who of you is willing to LOGIN and risk to end up with 4 tool slots after one life?

I just lived to 60 as a male in a town next to bell town.
Another 4 points down thanks to my nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
How they manages to starve between  full berry bushes plenty of carrots and 40 pies in the kitchen? (All within 3 screens)

After loosing so many points yesterday I fell  FREE !!!!
I will go to nomad life. I can survive in wilderness as a naked 3 years old kid with some berries in a bowl or berry bush within sight.

After nearly two years I am  "jack of all trades".
The Zoom is not a  problem. You need it only to travel long distances if you are looking for specific bioms. First time I instaled Zoom last week.

Yesterday I was #45 on the leaderboard, but... I have played a lot  today.
Someone find tarry spot, after he died I finish his work  and now it provides oil for few towns and our only bell town. I helped to keep them alive having babies, hunting  making tons of food, clothes, tools and rubber. I worked for others not for me.
Today after many hours of play I am #250 on the leaderboard.

I cant get more philosophical about the newbie mortality rate but losing tool slots hurts.
In almost every town when I was born (except bell town) i used to build tiny stone cow pen with two tables. For this you need 6 slots. (You need more to prevent town from collapsing ).

What  about twins who died on me just after I fed and named  them. They gave me  -1.7 . 

I start playing few weeks after OHOL was released.
We were naked in the wild, Zoom didn't exist,  but we have not starved if food was one screen away.
Nobody was teaching us because we ALL WERE NEW.

The game is not tough for new players at all.
It is tough for veterans.
Our hands was tied by Family Specialty than by tool slots and now we are punished by suiciding kids (even if they was born years after we died).

I just lived in bell town. No problem with water, full berry bushes, big carrot farm, big wheat farm.

I made 32 various pies, hunted 6 turkeys, made 5 buckets of full milk.
I also collected many abandoned  bp and clothes from around the town and made 6 hat.

Everybody had bp, clothes, and town was full of various food and still I lost many score points because lots of kids manages to starve between 5 and 15 years old.
What else could I do to prevent it?

Map is correct.  Two Boots towns connected by long N - S road. Volek (gingers) camp west from N Boots town.

Squash -> every gives you 3 seeds every time

1 seed - 1 squash -1 stew -> 3 seed - 3 squash -3 stew ->9 seed - 9 squash - 9 stew-> 27 seeds... -> 81 seeds... ->243... ->...................
