Well played good sir! I appreciate your reasoned and well thought out response.
But honestly I was sorta just messing with you, the " You can kill a city (and I have) over, and over, and over" statement kinda irked me a lil.
The first quote was the second one I looked at after a random search of collateral damage and it made me chuckle a little. Also fitted
Then I had to defend the statement when you inevitably questioned it..
Annoying when someone wastes your time isn't it?
I have said elsewhere though I can understand the ideology behind wiping and area so new gameplay can progress.
It's just a lot of people want a city life to learn and progress themselves which they can't do in Eve camps/early settlements. They want to feel valued and progress their knowledge without the constant pressure of feeling like they're in the way, or just eating all the farm then dying because they don't know what else to do in game yet.
Let city folk do their thing, you do yours, it's not like the world isn't big enough...
+1
I think a lot of people don't seem to know you can light kindling from a straight shaft either, little things that get missed easily when you start out I guess.
"British Dictionary definitions for terrorism
terrorism
noun
systematic use of violence and intimidation to achieve some goal
the act of terrorizing
the state of being terrorized"
Not necessarily 'political' but you def are trying to achieve a goal, purely of your own beliefs, over a far greater number of others goal of living, learning and building.
What makes your single belief far outweigh multiple others to a point that you have to annihilate any trace of them.
Some days I don't really find myself in the mood for city life, so I'll do something else. I don't usually find my self in a state of bloodlust and murder bound. Interesting why you feel the need to or can try and justify it.
Was this was last night in the ruined city? I lived in a satellite village of the big town, (which had been killed off whilst my mother raised us). In the end it was only me and her left, she urged me to go west to the town of her birth. I went and found it, loads of murder bones but no one alive. Took a cart of tools back to my village, when I went back again for more there was a new eve (West) just starting with a baby.
"Asymmetrical warfare is a euphemism for terrorism, just like collateral damage is a euphemism for killing innocent civilians."
Alan Dershowitz
Got a third gen birth, got everything just out of the danger zone, farms just about fruiting, first steel coming out the furnace. Then an eve spawns in right on top of the settlement, sets herself up on top of all our hard work, toil and sacrifice, now there's a mixed bloodline.
I've had barren lives before by myself and with others in the same village. Me, my sister and cousin all had zero babies and we all lived to sixty.
Never had it as an eve though.
What sc0rp said.
Every player should know how to survive in the wilds, just need a basket and a sharp stone. This should be as second nature to a one lifer as breathing is, you cant live long without that basic knowledge.
Just respawned there in dif family line, horse was back, spent most of life bolting round on it. Tons of soil from the wild, more iron and a ton of branches I left by the smiths station for tools. I as I hit 60 a found someone using them to make a bunch of fences (new pen?) by the smiths.
Found a rag hat, called myself the caretaker king.
Oh, found one of the outposts, quite small. No sign of life. Didn't see the other.
I frikking love me an iron mine!
So yeah, found three iron veins and was taken over with iron fever! Horse n cart got tipped to the south east in the desert, went back to get rope, fekkin sneks got me on the way back to get it...
Made one mine, hauled half back. Others are south/south east and further east.
So if you're born into the lineage, want a little quest above the usual look after the farm, help with pies etc. Grab yourself a rope, go after that cart and make some iron mines!
"the city looked nice, the people were the problem"
No change there then, ha
I had a rough time runs wise couple days back, every eve or early gen run was super frustrating. One camp kept having hammer go missing before other tools made, another had loads of people walking round with clothes before bellows had even been made, then still more clothes before a backpack.
Collecting rope to make a stone hoe, someone uses it to make a lasso (ugh!) get more, quickly ran to get a branch, came back to find a kid using it to make a bow despite no immediate use for one.
People trying to 'help' when I'm smithing and have everything setup to get stuff finished in a couple burns, then they mess me up and it takes three times as long. (Please ask before firing the forge if someone's already working it guys...)
Also people putting furnace on top of farm with no space to work, please, just stop that already!!!
Eve camps can be super hard with all the new players, you have to have at least one competent player per gen, or its doomed.
Well, like I said, I was in the process of sorting other priorities. The farms were running dry and no-one seemed to be addressing that, unmade wells despite low water supplies, no sheep at gen 14 despite pen being ready etc. Famine kills more that a lone moron with a bow...
He was on my list of things to rectify, just not at the top.
Griefers claim they do it because they're bored, there was tons to be done.
I was trying to actively encourage another to help create (thought maybe he was a new player) rather than assume anyone holding a weapon is an asshole out for destruction.
As for curse 'begging' nah, not begging, just trying to work out how the cursing mechanics can be best used, same as any other game system.
Same names leaping to defend the griefers side, but yeah guess you can't argue with stupid can you, or defend the un defendable...
"You can already play OHOL that way. Just get born as a male character and walk away from the city. There's your PVE."
[Jason drops mike]
Yeah, there was stuff to make deep wells and even shallow ones but nobody doing it? I was trying to turn it around then was cut short... Grr
That's the second time I've been murdered in a town I've founded
So set up a nice little civ a few hours back

Just got reborn into lineage

Murdered by a griefer sitting in the berry fields with a bow eating and calling himself a moocher.
So..
Spawn in realise its my family line so bit excited, farms looking a lil rough however so I make a new well, rebuild the farm, get soil and refresh the berry fields.
No sheep yet, so I get carrots and milkweed on the go.Kids been there with a bow for a while, not said anything bad to me so I give him the benefit of the doubt, maybe he just is not sure what he's doing yet. Ask him to help me get sheep, I'll get the rope, he kills the mouflon? Nah the asshole just shoots me with the bow instead..
Looks like he died 8 mins after me, so much for trying to help people not be morons, next time I'll take the bow and take no risks..
Spencer Composto is the name of the murderer
I had come on to ask for him to be cursed if your about to join a life, but only now got the name.
Edit: Just checked he family line, another murder, no name yet.
I thought the forums could be a way of calling out griefers so people could curse, could we get faster info up on the tree before the killer dies?
Was just typing out a similar response but it was far less technical and I knew I'd sound stupid describing it so deleted my txt. (then Gus wrote what I thought but couldn't describe, ha)
It's been covered in a previous thread I believe.
Sorry mom, I was secret. I thought you kept me hidden for a reason, you said you had to have me away from camp?
I came down to set a marker but was loosing food going up n down a lot. Then I found my sister setting up a second area, I didn't know how big the first one was so I said I'd help her.
I thought there was a big pop at base so I wanted a backup area if famine hit the first.
Pretty much got the farm done and fruiting, when me and another boy got snake bitten by two different snakes at the same time.
Told the last girl everything was setup for her, but she said she was alone so was suiciding... sigh
Sorry we left you alone worrying.
Anyone want to make a pen build vid and throw it up on youtube? Pretty sure it would benefit the community.
Easier to follow for some people if done visually. They can pause stages, double check etc.
More people need to know key stages of civ development, not just end game, but how to get there efficiently, not wasting a gen or two waiting for someone to be born that knows how to build a pen/get sheep.
It's done with floors FeverDog.
Been trying to teach people this or months. So frustrating when you see Eves/Moms not using desert to raise kids and you're too young to tell them properly.
Is this every life or just the first one when loading up game first time? I've noticed the first game I play of any session, the time it takes for loading in is increased. Often I will have been already named. Any other birth I'm straight in there (well outa there...)
Oh bless, she was taken so early, did you spend you life alone making her a grave?

I was born into a growing settlement, the furnaces were firing their first iron readying the new tools. Talk of a shovel being needed for a pen was going on, my mother diligently worked whilst while nursing me. I grew and scouted the village, to the north a few berry bushes were already settled but I could see food was looking scarce. Eggs were abound so I quickly got as many as I could and fried up the lot.
I went to start expanding the farm but found we were a hoe down, but smith was already making one as I had my first child. Some time around this my mother came rushing back into town with a snake bite, she had been out hunting a goose so we could start on a bow saw, there was an iron vein close to us but we hadn't got the file ready yet. She told me the bow was north but I didn't have time to go look for it, the bushes were already running dry and as we hadn't had a hoe, I hadn't got the carrots going.
I was trying to keep on top of the berries, we just had a well built and I watered a bunch but could already see it wasn't going to be in time.
I was already gathering up one child to go forage in the wilds as I had a second. The three of us roamed and found a small edge of a desert with a bush. I juggled them long enough for the second to grow and we made our way back. As predicted a lot of bones scattered the camp, only the smith, now old and grey, was in sight. The farm however was beginning to regrow.
I had a further 7 kids, we rebuilt the village, then as I was old and grey I saw a young lad carrying a knife...
Hey old lady!
Oh crap here we go... Nah not today lad, I keep moving as he follows me around with the knife, shouting after me. I think I'm the only one with a back pack so I've done this dance before. I ran past the arrow my mother had dropped after the snake bite, grab it. North, I think, the bow!
I couldn't find it but I quickly made another, I ran back to the village to not find the kid, but now there's a bear running loose...
Someone else has secured the knife, one problem down. A daughter took the bow, but we only had one arrow, it wasn't going to be enough. She successfully lured it far away enough to not be an immediate threat. (The local wildlife were savage here btw, the family tree is littered with animal murder and another bear killed the last girl)
All in all it was a good life, made me want to share its tale.
