Personally I bought the game with very little knowledge of what you're supposed to do. I like some of Jason's previous games, they are all fucking weird but good weird, so I just bought this one. I learned the game by watching others in-game and trial and error. Don't worry about being a burden, at the end of the day this is a game and it's meant to be played and enjoyed. Don't stress about not being the most efficient player. We all started knowing next to nothing and "got gud" over time. If you're not enjoying it then that's that, but if you feel you might like it once you learn it then i suggest you power threw. Dickheads are gonna dickhead, that comes hand in hand with any online game.
Drakulon, are you the one naming all your kids "Faith" and "Hope"? I love people that make an effort with naming.
That might be me, Hope, Courage, Survivor. Game butchers the names I give my kids but I try.
On topic: I mean if my parents didn't give me a name and gave 0 shits about me i might also have become a serial killer, who knows. So you do you my dude.
[...]I'm saddened and disappointed that people like that are in this game honestly, I thought the idea of working together and for the good of other people would have deterred behavior/mindsets like that.
I blame the yewtubs.
Then again i came here from ewtube as well. Oh balls... that makes me one of them!
Not to lick anyone's boot, but you absolutely did the right thing regarding names. If you start adding more names and last names players will eventually find an "offensive" combination. For example the totally normal sounding name Pete, in my country means blowjob. The more you know.
Also I'm totally cool with how the chat works. It forces players to stop and pay attention to each other, which makes RPing a lot easier and common place. It has a feel of "stop and smell the roses" for me.
I'm not an expert by any means, but from my understanding:
There are at least 3 public servers. The game picks at random which server to put you in whenever you spawn. And due to the random spawn mechanics, you'll either be an eve somewhere near a settlement or a baby. As of right now there are no in-game maps.
So with that said, there are ways to pick a server and you'll always spawn there. And most mayor villages are connected by wooden roads so you could technically find your old village if you move from town to town. Its not very practical since its very slow and at the end of the day you'll be a random guy with no relationship to the village so they might not trust you.
My best advice is to keep suiciding as a baby until you spawn where you want to. Personally i just play with the cards I'm given.
You could play on someones private server, since those change the rules of the game.
does this mean it is okay for me to surround entire settlements with filled trash pits and oven bases?
This. We need a solution for this easy to exploit mechanics. You can argue mass killings are fine and normal, but making an impenetrable wall of filled holes is a bit unrealistic I'd say.
I do like this update, I just feel like there are more pressing issues.
That legit happened to me, old man told me it was my turn to be on knife duty and stabbed me... pretty funny actually the whole family was standing around. I wonder how that went after I was gone.
