#26 Re: Main Forum » Scrap the Scrap Engine » 2020-04-03 21:14:07

It's amazing what "patches" Jason chooses for implementation.
It is as if he had 10 chairs to choose from and always chose the lame one to sit on.
No Eve who knows the game a bit will want to disassemble the engine, even if she needs a shovel now.
I will say more - I do not like the easy way to remove the engine.
Why removing the fence requires some magical intervention involving a very old person, and all you have to do to steal the engine is drive up to the well and load the engine on the cart.
This action lasts a second.
I've already seen three engine thefts from a town full of people.
And please don't write that we need city fences.
One of the people who stole the engine was uncle griefer.
This guy hid the engine in his own "estate" and waited for someone to come in to close the gate and starve this person.
It's just too easy.
Could they two people from family decide to dismantle?
Choosing a command just like when you decided to kill someone?
Let this even apply only to engines mounted on the family well.

I would like it too.
And if it's impossible that Jason would add such cool things as there are- backpacks, clothes, hats (shark-shaped cap), even this "carrying pole" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrying_pole
to carry two buckets of water.
Such simple things but so pleasant.

Another attempt to outsmart the malicious deity Jason.
Congratulations on your ingenuity.

#29 Re: Bug Discussion » Chopping White Pine Tree is not Hungry work » 2020-04-02 18:19:43

Immediately after introducing this mechanics, we asked Jason that cutting down swamp and dead trees was not a hungry technique.
But he did not want to improve on it and it remained so.

#30 Re: Main Forum » We got "updates" then we go silent » 2020-04-02 18:11:56

Ohol was different because it was very non-linear.
You didn't know who you would be and what your life would be like.
Jason's patches mean there is less and less variety in the game.
It is never a good way.

Shouldn't all be about nerf but finding the right balance between boring because too much stuff and game impossible because not enough.

But if you have too little of everything and you are starving, this is the best opportunity to talk to other players.

Well, any game will have this effect. So if it's still enjoyable, that must be a hell of a game !

Just saying.

I know well why I'm bored - Jason limited my options.
He gave me nothing in return for what he took.
Seriously, I don't want to play game calculating exactly water, oil, iron, berries.
For me it's boring as hell.
The fact that I can't do something because I am limited by race, space for tools, some funny "homesick" is boring as hell.
The fact that I have to do something, although I don't feel like it, is even more boring.
Jason has been experimenting for months.
Before calculating exactly how many berries and bowls of water we need per player, the most loyal players will abandon the game.
See how many new items were introduced by those who created games on the Ohol engine.
And what did we get?
Swords, sticks fences, rift, weakening, limiting, reducing.

I also bought mobile version of this game after a few days playing original OHOL (I played it just a little, pc OHOL is way better).
They have separate tutorial servers for making fire, farming, cooking and smithing. Here is an image of server list: https://i.snipboard.io/WZQAY3.jpg

Thats how making fire area looks like (2 screens because can't zoom out in mobile to show whole area):

Notice a book icon with recipies, it's also a very nice thing in mobile version. Easy to find out how to make an item after clicking it.

I wish we had similar tutorials in OHOL.

This is what the tutorial should look like.

#34 Re: Bug Discussion » Chopping White Pine Tree is not Hungry work » 2020-04-02 17:41:53

Hungry work on cutting down trees was introduced in times of rift.
This was to prevent griefs from cutting all useful trees.
Jason forgot the pines by mistake.
And so it remains today.
There is no longer a rift and the danger that griefs will cut down all the trees, but hungry work remains, no one knows why.

#35 Re: Main Forum » More Mining Equipment Needed » 2020-04-02 17:39:51

The forge is cool but ... how many new items did this guy introduce?
If we had at least 1/4 of that I'd be happy.

#36 Re: Main Forum » We got "updates" then we go silent » 2020-04-02 17:36:49

The only thing left of this game is the unique interpersonal interaction.
That's why I still play, although sometimes I feel bored and ask myself, is it a waste of time?

#37 Re: Main Forum » Early Tool Overhaul - Stone, Copper, Bronze, Iron » 2020-03-29 19:21:41

And in my opinion, we need the development of medium and low level technology.
Is it logical that people who build cars heat up with a bonfire in the middle of the room?
And they wear rabbit skin pants or a grass skirt?
Doing things like a tiled stove could be just as pleasant as doing a car (and a stove would be more useful).
This, however, would require throwing away all the last "patches" restricting water, oil and iron.

Unfortunately, my faith in Jason is not very big. His only correct vision is that he does not add, but limits everything he can.

#38 Re: Main Forum » Update broken cant get more iron » 2020-03-29 19:01:28

Dodge, whatever you say, the game has become boring and tedious. There is nothing good about being artificially limited. It's just frustrating that I can't do any work, although I know how to do it.

The world that Jason created is terribly illogical and full of invisible walls:
"You can't even break the leaf in the wrong biomes",
"You can use only a few tools",
"Even for 10 generations (about 200 years) you will not learn another language",
"You can  have children only near your family well",
and now: "You can find iron only near your well, but only a little"
"If you eat all fruit from a wild bush, this bush will die."
Seriously? How do wells affect fertility in real life and who water the wild bushes?

I get the impression that you don't play too much. Do you really think we will call a meeting to decide what to do with one piece of iron? And this is supposed to be interesting? Sooner we die of hunger than take a group decision.

Anything that is forced on will not work. So leadership doesn't work. What's weird about that?

Finally, if you tell people that less is more, you should become a politician (you just have to work out, because you haven't convinced anyone yet).

#39 Re: Main Forum » Can we finally have finite wild berries, pls? » 2020-03-26 15:56:23

I think we need a zombie apocalypse.
All dead relatives who will not be buried within 10 minutes return as zombies.
Everyone who dies in the wilderness slowly returns to their city.
If a zombie bites you, you turn into a zombie.

Braaaaaain!

#40 Re: Main Forum » Fun cannot be implemented » 2020-03-26 15:46:13

These changes made by Jason are like a broken leg.
Does a broken leg create interesting stories?
For sure.
Only after some time it turns out that you can't really do many things you have done before and are much more limited with a broken leg.
In addition, a broken leg is not pleasant at all.
Unfortunately, due to these "corrections" we are forced to limp with a broken leg.
Jason thinks at the moment: "It didn't work? Maybe you still have to break a few fingers on your left hand? This will finally be a challenge!"

I wonder how long it will last?

But you can still die in the process. You have to stay calm : if you fail you don't only waste some kindling like when you are forging.
I haven't try with a quiver for now.

I wonder how hard it is to kill a Bear in real life with 3 arrows.

I think that of course you can do it, although I have a 50% chance of success (I don't have very good reflexes).
However, I would like to see Jason do it.
I think that would be fun.

DestinyCall wrote:

If you go hunting drop bears, you better bring a bazooka.   Those bastards will mess you up right proper.

I read that in the Middle Ages real hardcore men hunted bears with a pitchfork and ax.
It was a pvp, quite equal chances for both sides.
Maybe bring it to Ohol?

#42 Re: Main Forum » More iron nerfing coming next update... » 2020-03-25 21:07:26

Jeez, when does Jason finally ADD something cool?
Last year is a constant limitation of what was.
I liked the bucket with dung - something useful and harmless at last.

#43 Re: Main Forum » Big change incoming: animal attacks can happen on non-empty tiles » 2020-03-25 21:06:05

I think that supporters of this change use a mode that predicts animal movements.
Or maybe Jason will show us how to kill a bear without using mods (and dev rights).
Seriously, I'd love to see a movie how you deal with it.
Finally, there will be something fun.

It's also empty servers.  The code has an inequality, and '0' gets recognized as a number, as the reflector usually suggests: http://onehouronelife.com/reflector/ser … ion=report

So one equals zero.
This explains the lack of restrictions on empty servers with one player.
Yes.

DestinyCall wrote:

Jason hears everything and is always around.
He hears the cry of the worm you pull from the soil.
Soon he will punish us all for throwing worms.

#45 Re: Main Forum » More Dehumanization » 2020-03-08 15:57:34

WOW! Spoonwood you are brilliant.
I would never have made it up.
So it's ALMOST empty servers, servers with low population, servers whith single player or only a few players.

I don't follow all the corrections made by Jason, so it's nowelty to me.
And a step in the right direction.
It's much nicer to play without these nonsense restrictions.

#46 Re: Main Forum » Living together with strangers » 2020-03-08 12:20:08

I also liked the homogeneous cities.
I felt more connected with my family.
Especially when I was one of the first generations.
I always watched if my family survived the night.
Now I don't care.
There are 4 families and if I play I will be in each of them and I do not feel connected with anyone.

#47 Re: Main Forum » More Dehumanization » 2020-03-08 12:16:04

Well, before the apocalypse, I was playing on a server with a small population.
For the first time in a long time.
Do you know that there are no  racial or tools restrictionson empty servers?
Then I played on a regular server.
And playing with other players was more boring to me than playing alone.
This is really bad.
On the main server I was a man and I just didn't know what to do.
I ended up riding on the road and I don't know why.

I have no problems with the food bonus (this will be a problem for new players).
But ... the reduction of oil and higher hunger levels will cause cities to die out even faster.
Where is it more interesting?
It will be just as boring but more annoying.

I feel sorry for this game.
She provided me with hours of extraordinary fun.

They all say, "We don't want it, it spoils the game."
And you are trying to force people again.
Should I remind you of the history of swords and private property? Nobody wanted it and it took several months for you to give up these ideas.

Creating a new tutorial takes a lot of work, so no, we probably won't see the new tutorial.

You mean when you had a diversity of options with how to get more water such as when multiple ponds could get upgraded?  You don't want the monotonous and narrow path of spring to shallow well to deep well to newcomen charcoal pump to diesel water pump, but instead have that option *as well* as the option of upgrading a bunch of ponds to shallow wells and then to deep wells?

When you felt like there was more of an option to use a tank of kerosene on a car or plane?

Like when San-cal could have a viable surburb, and it wasn't like you'd even necessarily end up in San-Cal every 5th life or something, but it still existed and you might go there?  When buildings AND a diversity of temperature environments existed?

Exactly. I remember these big cities with two deep wells, three shallow wells and one with a steam engine.
Veterans could easily build advanced things and noobs calmly cultivate the land without constant fear of lack of water.

So in response to our whining, Jason decided to make us hungry faster?

Bravo!

I think I should write the topic: "Is Jason an alien and why is it almost certain?"
