Ha! I remember the exact boar that you're talking about. It would sometimes come down to the ponds where my only daughter Skyland would be farming; it kept me worried for years. Though after 20+ generations, it's probably dead.

Good Ashland! He was a hard worker in his youth as well. I'm glad he saved the family. Thanks for sharing the story and leaving a piece of family lore in town.

I was Linnea Jacob, 3rd generation Jacob.

I just checked the family tree and one thing caught my eye - Sarah Jacob mentions Ashland Jacob feeding Hope Jacob and thereby saving the lineage. Ashland was my son! Now, I'm curious about this story. I died of old age after the birth of my second grandson, so I never got a chance to see Hope. Anyone know the specific details?

Agreed. Communication is limited in the game, but let's not pretend that there's none at all. Simply notify some folks about what you will be doing, make sure someone has agreed to feed you, and then do the deed. No harm done. And if the villagers understand the game well enough, they should know that a lineage ban on a serial suicide baby is much more beneficial for the town than letting them DC because "it's faster."

Classic forum topic. Never gets old.

At least they died from incompetence, which I think is mildly less infuriating than deliberate suicide. I think it was in one Tarr lineage. I was an infertile hag, living alone with my great niece and my son in a fairly big town. Niece makes the observation that she's the last woman.

"Lol bye."

And then she commits suicide.

So really the town was terminated by bad luck and he tried to take credit for it.

I played in that town, albeit not during the time of the massacre. There were multiple families coexisting in that town, from the Runcks, the Wests, the Bests and the Furrys. OP didn’t provide the link, but if you check the Best lineage you will see that a huge number of the population has been wiped out, including men.

How can one fail to notice this many kills? If you don't have the means to retaliate, at least run to save the lineage.

Irelia migrated when she was four.

I spent a long time looking for a good spot with desert, green and swamp. I was starting a berry farm where I'd envisioned, when I notice my daughter had started her own berry farm in the middle of green. I tell her to stop and to grow the berries on warm land where I'd begun a couple plots. She won't listen to me. Says she'll do whatever the hell she wants. Steals soil off my farm. Makes her berry farm even bigger. We fall into a verbal altercation. Then she starts making a fucking bow so she can kill me. I just starved myself because I hit menopause and that insufferable bitch was my last remaining daughter.

Genuine question: Do they come back on their own if you lead them away?

I hate this.

"It hasn't done anything bad yet."
"It's a funny kind of a evil."
"I want to give it a chance."

Everyone acts surprised when it goes a mass killing spree a decade later. I have enough anecdotes about cursed babies to know they are bad news.

Me and my daughters wiped out in a matter of seconds by one person.

#38 Re: Main Forum » When you realise your daughter was a sociopath only after you die » 2018-08-04 20:31:16

I was Hope. The nameless infant born before "Hope" was also me. As soon as I was born as her son, she removed me from the camp and brandishing her knife, told me that my "meat" looked delicious. I began to run, but a baby without food or warmth can only get so far; I died of starvation. Later I was born again, this time as her daughter. I recognized my mother as the same deranged individual, but I believed she would spare me. I was the last girl in town. Everyone was celebrating my birth. People clothed me. She had even named me "Hope". But every time she approached me she would draw her knife and I knew it was no mistake. She would go on mad, cannibalistic rants, and as soon as I began to flee, the witch would revert back to sweet endearments like "I love you!" "I'm not going to hurt you!" A sociopath indeed. I got away on temp run, and when I returned, I was faced with the fresh corpses of my brothers and dead sheep. Mother was still MIA with two knives, so I fled North, where I found another branch of the West family living off a very meager farm. I stayed with them for a while and moved back to base when I found the corpse of my mother which confirmed her death. Later, I met a newly spawned Eve West and after that things were pretty chill.

Maybe Billie really was just confused about which items to pull from her backpack. Maybe she's just misunderstood. Maybe she meant no harm to Hope. After all, she raised Hope's brothers to adulthood, didn't she? But after I saw how she acted towards her nameless son, I sure as hell wasn't taking any chances.

I was your mom, May. I raised you away from our big, prosperous town to start a new camp. When I couldn't find you, I thought you were dead. I returned home and forgot about you. At some point, a mass murderer massacred the folks in town, including your little sister. Town's probably empty by now. I don't know what the situation is like at the new camp, but I'm glad to see you and your children have lived to old age.

#41 Re: Main Forum » Keep all the children alive » 2018-04-03 04:37:26

I disagree with OP. Keeping all the babies always seems like a risky (and unnecessary) gamble to me. Either your village learns to adapt to a dozen new mouths to feed or it just collapses. As someone has mentioned above, there is a carrying capacity for each environment. A small farm of six tiles won't support three Eves and each of their three infants. Building new infrastructure requires a stable food source, and if your field is constantly empty you won't be able to make compost or support any other projects. An empty field will just stagnate your overall progress, if it does not kill everyone.

I've been in this overpopulation situation too many times, where the village can hardly feed itself, and Eves keep producing 5~6 babies. Nobody can do enduring work, because they're constantly facing hunger. Seeds can't be produced, because desperate folks prematurely harvest. Berry bushes are empty, because people have nothing else to eat. Everyone dies or migrates, save for a few and it just leaves a barren piece of land with no seeds and no berries.

I'm not saying every Eve should keep a single girl and kill every other child. I'm saying that when you make the decision to keep all your children, without evaluating the condition of your village or considering the possibility of overpopulation, you are probably being a burden to the functioning of your village.
