Honestly that town is starting to become a suicide zone for me too, I've tried to live a couple of lives there and save it, but the resources just aren't there or the times I've played people don't co-ordinate with each other and cut the last wheat or don't let the carrots seed, Trinity is a constant compost problem.

I generally try to avoid suiciding since it can be pretty rude, especially if a village desperately needs girls but there are a few things that will cause me to suicide unless something mind changing happens, for example; nameless Eves, usually I stick around for a minute or two but if she doesn't name herself after that or name me when I ask I know the player defo isn't experienced nor have they done the tutorial, which doesn't fill me with hope about the success chances to begin with.

Big towns with a focus only on berries can also make me kill myself too since it's always a slog to do anything in a town like that, but that's a case by case basis, what about you guys?

#28 Re: Main Forum » Extreme lag?.. » 2018-07-03 21:11:38

I'm getting the lag too, it's definitely the game and not my laptop or internet either since both my laptop is high end and my internet is really good.

#29 Re: Main Forum » Where are all the new players coming from? » 2018-07-03 20:58:38

I know I bought the game 3 weeks ago because I saw a youtuber I follow had played it and the title seemed interesting, watched that then I ended up watching a ton more videos from several other people and after that I decided to buy the game.

It's possible some of the new folks have a similar origin story.

Oh my god, that's amazing! Oh man I wish you'd gotten a recording of this, that would've been hilarious to see.

As the title suggests I just died of old age as Luna Mann to that particular town that seems to be getting a lot of traffic of late.

When I spawned in soil and compost was low, I devoted the majority of my life to compost creation to try and maintain the food that was being produced, towards the end of my life I saw some other person had taken up the job of compost creator so hopefully that continues to go well! I wish you guys the best of luck over there!

You problem is you didn't plant carrots and wheat... not that you had berries.

In my case we did plant carrots and wheat, but people kept using the soil to maintain the production of said wheat and carrots and thus the compost to keep making the soil and kept using it on the berries with no end in sight.

Got born in as Loki to the West family and by the time I showed up every bit compost was being used for berries, heck, they weren't even attending to the sheep! All the carrots were gone and no one was making wheat- I tried to help, but every time I put down compost it was gone in like minutes.

Just before I died of starvation me and a couple of kids were working to try and fix the situation, but I have my doubts it's salvagable.

I actually ran across someone I played with today that I'd played with a couple of days ago whilst I was living in the Panda lineage as Jack! I think that's pretty cool actually seeing someone you had a pretty chill time with again in game, especially since it's a game of random chance where you end up!

You guys have any stories like that? I know some of the forum goers end up meeting up with one another every now and again but I'm curious if you guys have any funny stories about that!

#36 Re: Main Forum » Stew is griefing » 2018-06-27 13:40:50

Oh man, that sounds really frustrating honestly! Tools don't take long once you got the stuff for it, if they'd just let you get on with what you were doing there would've been plenty of tools and then they could've done stew. Sorry you had a bad run like that.

i had two each so i hid one knife and a key

told him to put emergency supplies to room and box

sorry last son but i lag and if you jump off i wont ran after you when i got the only girl in town in hand

misha was a bit agressive that time but he was nice, told him to make adobe out of clay and wheat, how to cut down doors, and that we could do stone room but there is no stone around, mostly because the road patches

Yo, dude! I was Jack Panda, I gave your mom Lara one of the many backpacks we had around- people kept dying to starvation despite there being a lot of berries and pies around...it was really weird, I'm guessing they didn't manage their hunger very well- I think I gave you the knife I had on me at the end of my life, happened near the sheep pen, and my backpack for one of your kids I believe since we didn't have that much of a population!

#38 Re: Main Forum » Missed Connections » 2018-06-26 14:00:59

To Bob Panda, otherwise known as the awesome backpack man!

I was Jack Panda, the boy who you told to get a needle and thread and then gave me a backpack for it! You were a great help and your backpacks were extremely helpful, many a time the one you gave me saved my life as I moved to and fro making pies!

And also hello to Lara Panda who was my little sister in game who then asked to marry me later on, it was sweet of you to come die with me when we got old and grey, I hope Lily will do well!

I was a part of this newly formed lineage twice today! First I was Donta who died due to starvation (the Eve picked a location far from water) before I died my sister Hope talked of moving closer to water. Couple of minutes later I respawned there as my sister's son Lucas! Which was pretty cool honestly!

This time around I feel like I accomplished quite a bit! Made two baskets, a snare, a regular hoe not the steel kind, and two backpacks and half a bellows, I was in the process of doing the clay nozzle but I ran out to go get something for something else and a rattle snake cut my life short. Still! I hope everyone does well! I wish everyone in that lineage the best!

i seen 7x10? running out under the baby locusts, so hard to sustain, but not because too big, because people dont make compost

so it needs to be huge
but not in big blocks

personally i would plant them checkboard pattern, so every second tile, then under it offset
this would help with placing bucket, soil and bowls between
so lets say you place like this:
r-road/ t-free tile/ c-cistern/ b-bush
r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r
r-b-t-b-t-b-r
r-t-b-c-b-t-r
r-b-t-b-t-b-r
r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r
3x5 with 8 bush, 6 free, makes 56 berries, one compost enough for 3 refills needs 24 water, sustains 3 persons almost

mortis 3x3 also okay, but not enough free space

the biggest problem i see that is only one huge berry farm which limits kids to go further so 4 corners, 4 smaller berry fields are better or a road with a line of berries

now lets say you plant all around the city, in 4 rows, bear cant get in
sheep stays in
then you can make a pen for carrot or just outside of berry

im all for more cycles than more bushes
imagine you got 30 bushes and you make baskets from wheat, store berry, fix berry as soon as it goes languishing
6 times 15 is enough for a lifetime for a person, but you can put soil and water and recharge each 10 min max
so we should aim at 30 people
this means 100 bushes enough for hard working people
but then there is the waste, the lazy people, the berry bowls

i seen bushes far from water and i seen towns run out of water
so i think the positioning should be near a pond/cistern and smaller packs spread out

also with the new variety bonus you cant just eat berry
and is slower and worse than carrot, only it doesnt need tilling

i think most calories lost are because people dont manage it properly
lets say a kid eats a carrot, loses one-four calory, in long run this is a lot
so i think corn is not only better, but saves the most on food, as usually people can manage it better
but yeah corn needs bowls, fire, time, kind of lot of work

stew is good but more often than not, it just takes up a huge place leaving seeds out, bowls plates around, beans on floor
and you cant take stew in pack

exploring is always needed, carts, baskets, clay, retrieving items

wheat leaves a lot of grain if you make baskets and only carrot pies can get rid of it
but as long is outside of city is ok

im still on old machine so i didnt had many big projects nowadays
my grave pen a few weeks ago was a viable pie making spot

The problem I've seen in regards to the berry bushes is huge plots of land but no space for compost or as you say there's no water nearby! Another issue with them I've found is that all the compost goes to maintaining them so I end up seeing farms dying off in other corners of the village that usually do have the water to maintain themselves, but not the compost- I've seen a lot of squash, bean and corn patches die and not be replanted because of this unfortunately, which is a bit worrying since they're a better food source if you have the time.

I'll definitely take your suggestions into mind if I ever get the chance to do an Eve run which is feeling rarer and rarer these days with the reworking of the lineage ban?

Babies supposed to be a pain in the ass to raise. I thought it was in the "core" thread but I can't find it.

Honestly I still think you could have baby slings and still have it been a pain in the ass if the kid in the sling's hunger bar still decreases, so you basically have to take the kid out of the sling to be able to feed it. Which if you have another kid with you or are doing something is going to be a pain.

Another idea could be if the baby grows into a toddler whilst in the sling you get slowed down like the murderer mechanic until you get the kid off your back.

well, people tend to extend one berry farm indefinitely

i build pens to colder parts, as you will get gear from wool so hot pens are worse
also it needs to be in edge of town to be able to  extend
i generally include a cactus or a pond into it, looks better, functions better

no time to plant big berry field but i guess only the first few would do
btw if you would plant berry 3 sides of the pen, 4 wide, pits could be removed as they wont go out (lambs can go out in 3? on transition) and the fourth side expanded

also carrot pens would be nice, if decay hits in, a pen destroyed, animals cant go in to a pen
and only carrot gets destroyed by sheep

wheat is usually near it i make sure of it
lot of carts get lost so yeah berry near it would make sene

only that people tend to make big blocks of berry big blocks of graves
helps nobody in long run
leave some free tiles ffs
now imagine, 3rd gen you got enough graves t make a pen out of it, then build around with berry bushes
then just remove the graves or transport it
i guess a pen at least 7x7 inside and 4 rows/columns of berries around it could be done

Hmm, interesting. Thanks for the advice. Also what's your personal opinion on all the huge berry farms you see in villages these days? That's what I usually the see the majority of the compost being for and they're super unsustainable in my opinion, you end up using compost faster than you can make it.

It is a good idea, perhaps add a cistern for water.

That's a good idea too! Especially if the pen isn't located near water which would be the ideal, but usually isn't what ends up happening.

I totally understand that! But you'd think someone would just get so tired of the constant running back and forth and add a little farm to the side of the pen to make it easier on themselves, I know that's what motivated me as well as it hopefully being useful for other players.

One thing I always have to wonder is why not have berries, carrots and wheat right next to a sheep pen? I can understand some worry about the carrots if the sheep got out, but other than that I don't see why it's not a good idea to have a little stock of each crop just for the compost, I hardly ever see towns doing this when to me it makes the most sense? The amount of travel time you waste in a big city is almost like half of your life!

Every time I've tried to start one I've had the misfortune of being female in the game and haven't been able to get them done as I end up being nanny to a bunch of kids and not really being able to move, or I have to forge or do some other skill that's needed more.

Finally killed the bear, and a second one showed up.

It's because the town is right next door to 2 bear caves, and a bunch of mothers were letting their kids die.

Was spawned back in that town actually! The bear got killed but another came by at some point before my second birth, I was Luna first life and then Toni Panda in my second! Who were you my dude?

As nice as graves are for sentimental reasons every time I see a town with a graveyard I sweat a little, especially if it's marked graves. Takes up too much space and ends up not benefiting the future generations...and they really shouldn't be unbreakable.
