I don't usually take my game life too seriously. If I go into it expecting that I and everyone else will die, anything else is bonus.

I dunno. Sure, it's a hard game. But I still play it.
I do it for the sense of community. For the small moments, like when I told people to leave a row for the great lord Cthulhu as well as one for seed. For when I make my last name explorer and call my son dora. For when, if I can't do it any more I give my child to a penguin "babysitter" called betsy, or recite a poem to my shocked and appalled young babe.
I personally think that the coolest thing is being able to make an impact on someone else's life. Maybe it's the baby you decided to spare, maybe it's a whole village you saved from a griefer. What you do with the people around you, whether you help or don't, is your impact and it lasts for longer than stone walls or monuments.
Definitely longer than sixty minutes..

Wonderfully put.

I tend to have more fun when I take it all lightly and don't care too much what happens.

One if the things I use to tell my children is "be kind and patient with the new players."
That was before the update. I'm not doing much mothering lately.

#30 Re: Main Forum » Game is dying » 2018-04-26 16:30:23

In most cases, with other games, I think many players are a bit too demanding and impatient with the developers.
But with this game, I feel the complaints are valid. The game, as it is now, is mostly just frustrating to play.

I also understand that Jason wants to work out the core mechanics of the game before adding content on top of it.
However, at this point, he needs to throw us a bone.

(I'm not a game developer, but I do create art content for people, and I know the struggle with working on your passion projects while also giving your audience what they want)

#31 Re: Main Forum » On a related note to people typing "666" » 2018-04-26 10:12:01

Maybe Jason is designing some bots to replace all the players he keeps losing.

Um... yes we are?

The difference is that because everything in the game is crammed into one hour, with each minute being a year, it is very difficult to manage every little thing. I feel like the timing for things in game (resources regrowing, etc.) needs more adjustments.

#33 Re: Main Forum » Damon the Demon Child » 2018-04-23 16:17:08

I'm sorry this happened to you. It's rough when your own child turns violent against you.
Trust your instincts. Better safe then sorry when dealing with a potential murderer.

They weren't also at the same time trying to grow food and eat every minute so they don't starve to death.

This game needs more people working on it...

Yes. Also, it would be great (and make perfect sense) if broken baskets could be burned as kindling.

Ha. My skewer broke after 5 or less uses to fix the hardened soil.
I let myself starve to death after that.

#38 Re: Main Forum » Latest Update. » 2018-04-21 19:38:02

I guess I'm done too. At least for a while, until real improvements are made.
Sad...

#39 Re: Main Forum » Now the whole world every things will break in one real time day??? » 2018-04-21 19:21:00

Decay could be good, but not the way it works now.
It's already hard to find enough sticks and rocks to make the basics, even though those should be the most plentiful resource in nature. Now we have to make multiples of everything just to get a settlement going.

#41 Re: Main Forum » are the home markers broken ? » 2018-04-20 10:17:06

The Siren Bell and the Phantom Home Marker. Following it will likely lead to your doom.

#42 Re: Main Forum » Mystery sounds? » 2018-04-20 06:32:18

The bell rings, and if you don't have a home market, you are shown where the bell tower is.
I took a long journey to find one for the first time. I had a kid along the way. As soon as I finally found the village, I was shot with an arrow. Wow, great , thanks.

In my life after that one, I followed another. At the bell tower, I was attacked by someone with a knife. But I was on guard and got away.

So is the bell tower monument just used to lure victims, or what?

Pff, believing in sun god is delusion. Has anyone ever actually seen the sun? Or even the sky? It's a myth. There is only ground, controlled by the Rabbit Goddess of Life and Death.

The cult of the mushroom is growing!

#45 Re: Main Forum » Missed Connections » 2018-04-17 17:17:08

To my family with no last name.
I was born as a girl, just as you guys were ready to leave to find a new place to camp. I was named savior (naturally). My mom carried me and three other adults carried carts of stuff, traveling West. It was a fun journey, at first.
The oldest guy died first. I carried his bones for a little while, but then another guy died suddenly. There seemed to be nothing but snow and rocky biomes, and now we were running low on food. We seemed pretty screwed.j
You all died. But I went on, with the few things I could carry (still too small to carry a cart).
Just a few squares further, I found a cart full of food!
I headed north, and met another older man with a cart. He took  me to his village, I had a baby girl on the way there. The place had been abandoned, due to murders. But there was still lots of food and big farm. I had another girl just before I became too old.
There were a few girls/women when I died.
I was reborn there a couple times later on, and the place was doing well!

#46 Re: Main Forum » Is it time for school? » 2018-04-16 17:29:20

Not a bad idea, I think.
Right now the moms or wet nurses are the primary educator for children. But a lot of the time they don't really teach or show the kids anything.

I'm curious, how many of you type stuff to say when no one is around to read it, just talking to yourself?

(Sometimes I'm talking to whatever god's, demons, or spirits might be listening)

In a recent life, I was the last woman in a camp. I repeatedly prayed to the goddess of life to bless me and my family with girls.
I left offerings, baskets of carrots and a pie, around a rabbit.
The goddess heard my prayers and took pity on me! I had a daughter and she eventually had another girl.
When I was too old to have more children, I thanked the goddess and died next to the rabbit and offerings.

So, to answer your three questions directly:
1. I want a challenge that varies in complexity but never lets me take a break without regret.
2. I think Jason needs to revise his update strategy. Take suggestions more seriously and propose his additions before implementing them so he can get feedback before implementing a bunch of shit.
3. Different styles of challenge (e.g. natural disasters, seasonal problems/events, disease states, war invoking things for stuff like land control or resource control).

I second this!
