Jason stopped developing this game because of Spoonwood.

I did these in the past. The thing is, people always kill the boars. It's very unlikely that a boar could survive a few hours in a town.
I don't bother anymore.

It's crazy how unplayable this game is for new players. I wish we had the same tutorial as in mobile version of this game. They have perfect tutorial.

Just remove the game from the game. Problem solved forever and ever.

If one removes the game then one can't experience one hour one life experience.

Unless one plays another game for one hour... Wait, what?

#30 Re: Main Forum » Water Strategy » 2020-12-22 23:59:22

That would be abusing an exploit of the game. I'm not gonna do this.

#31 Re: Main Forum » Gas powered stoves and forges » 2020-12-11 20:49:10

This game needs something that will keep players entertained. No offense, but I don't think that more items will make playerbase grow up.

I mean, new items could be cool, but it's not what this game needs.

Fun fact - there are 9 241 059 calories in a litre of diesel.

It does take an enormous amount of tires though, 10 rubber dough buckets worth. If your family is moving and you have a massive stockpile of kero it may be OK just to get the cisterns filled quickly, but it's really a waste.

Yeah, after all I think preparing 10 buckets of rubber dough before moving would be better idea than skipping deep well and newcomen pump.

Yeah, that make sense.

#34 Re: Main Forum » private server issue » 2020-12-05 02:14:54

Yes. You didn't close the server with ctrl + c,  you need to do this otherwise it won't start next time you run it.
You can delete broken files, they will be created again after you run the server, or unpack whole server again.

Have you played this week or watched streams?  Also, you lose out on an estimated 33 buckets of water by skipping a deep well.  I don't see any reason to lose that much water which doesn't require kerosene or rubber.

I haven't played this week, I'll play this game again after the update.
Yeah, it's a bad feeling to lose 33 buckets of water from deep well, but there is plenty of new resources and water around in the new place.
Moving to a new place and surviving there is probably the hardest thing in this game, because of how little value foods give in later generations - that's why you would want to make the process as much easier as possible. Having super easy access to water (diesel pump) makes it easier and may save your family. Unless you have tons of tires prepared for newcomen pump, skipping deep well is a good choice in my opinion.

#36 Re: Main Forum » Rabbit or Cloth Clothes? » 2020-12-03 23:06:39

In Eve camps wolf hats and mouflon hides are the easiest and fastest to get - one person can easily get whole family dressed with them. Some rabbits for loincloths and rabbit shoes. - That's the best beginning I think.

Later on I would always pick cloth clothes, because they look prettier. Having a little less insulation makes no difference (or very little) for yummers.

Tho I don't like when people feed sheep just to get wool and make clothes out of it. Feed lambs (from dimestic mouflons), always.

I think you forgot about diesel mining.

Spoonwood wrote:

You want to move a family when food values are so low?

Yeah, take tons of food with you with trucks. Take many hoe heads so people can make farms fast. Take engines and kerosene, so you can skip deep well and newcomen well, but you will have constant easy access to water. Take many plates and bowls, so people can start cooking right away.
Yeah, it wouldn't be that hard with a good preparation. The mistake people do is that they want to move when they are out of kero and water, and that is way too late.

Lineage length has next to nothing to do with players.

Lol... It's only up to players how long their family will survive. If only expert players played this game, no family would be dying out (except server resets).

Spoonwood wrote:

I don't think that the oil supply would keep up locally for 100,000 generations.  Also, spawning mechanics often weaken lineage prospects, food generational decline exists, and perfect play isn't going to happen.

Your town can't last that long, but your family can. You can always move on to the new spot after each 150 generations or so. It doesn't really require perfect play. Even with food generational decline it would be pretty easy to start new place if you take with you enough food, iron(better to take tool heads, so you can start farming and stuff right away), kerosene (to skip newcomen well), buckets, bowls, plates. 3 trucks would be enough.

Spoonwood wrote:

Do you play games with cheats, because "infinite ammunition" gives you more possibilities? It's stupid IMO.

#39 Re: Main Forum » Why Everything Runs Out is Boring » 2020-12-03 07:07:52

It's about how long can your family survive. It doesn't matter that your family will die out. What matters is when it will die out. Surviving 5 generations is not a challenge, but if your family could survive 200 generations and more, it's satisfying that you were part of this achievement. http://onehouronelife.com shows that longest family line survived 813 generations, why don't you try to beat it?

To me infinite resources are more boring. It's like playing with cheats... We can not care what we do with water, we can waste it whatever we like as long as someone is getting new water, and there is always more water in an infinite world. Isn't it boring?

Spoonwood wrote:

Your family that you play in is doomed to die out one way or another.

If we had no server resets it could be possible to survive even 100000 generations in an infinite world like we have rn.

But yeah, this game is hard and people can't make it that far. It's actually sad that longest family line this week had only 63 generations...
It's very likely that incoming update will change it tho.

#40 Re: Main Forum » Coming soon: get reborn to your descendants after living to old age » 2020-12-01 18:57:12

Personally I love this and always wanted to be able to continue my projects. It feels even better that I can take an hour or more break and be back to the same place (if my descendants are still alive)

What I'm worried about is that strong and rich families can eat whole server population since it's easy to live to 60 there. It happens way too often that one family has half the server population while other fams are struggling to get a kid having 2-4 players and often dying out because of that. Families should be equally populated IMO.

Those who don't like the change can force kill themselves younger than 60, but doing such feels really weird tho.

#41 Re: Main Forum » Please help build the road (with instructions) » 2020-11-27 14:40:22

Yes spoon, I liked it more too when we had to build everything from scratch (Before race restrictions we had no idea where other families live, nor where dead towns are), but this is off-topic, so your posts are just spam.

#42 Re: Main Forum » This Is Not Justice » 2020-11-20 04:09:04

I'm also against violence in general, but a little stab here and there can make this game less boring.
I remember times without kill cooldown... Sometimes I got stabbed without a good reason too, even tho I was always busy helping the town, and I didn't feel like it was a bad thing. It is surely more boring now.

#43 Re: Main Forum » I found something in the woods. » 2020-11-18 05:18:43

Never seen full white baseball balls, at begin I was thinking someone painted them white for some reason.
Had to google it to see if there are any full white.

Maybe someone played baseball somewhere near and lost them?

I thought it was their death age that mattered, not their genetic score.

Their genetic score matters to you too. For example if someone has 12 genetic score, you will receive gene points if he survives 12 or more years, otherwise you lose points if he dies younger than 12yo.

New players will still have pretty low gene score even after a few games, so it's still safe to play with them.

I think you should change topic title, because it's misleading.

#45 Re: Main Forum » Gene Score Advice: Don't Play During A Sale/Always Check BS2 » 2020-11-11 17:08:12

If I remember correctly, genetics of new players were changed. They start from 0 or smth.
You can only gain genetic score when playing with new players, even if they die super young.

#46 Re: Main Forum » I Prefer Watching People Stream Who Use a Zoom Mod » 2020-11-05 03:53:57

Little sight view is the worst thing in this game. I can't even imagine playing without zoom.
Even in games like stardev valley you can zoom in and out.

Jason says this game looks the best when zoomed in maximally. He just wants us to fully "enjoy" his own drawings I guess. This kind of narcissism makes the game barely playable to people without a zoom mod.

He also says that it looks better on videos, but if he made it that zooming in was very smooth, it would look good on videos too I believe.

This game doesn't need as much zoom as mods have. 2x would be enough with the ability to zoom in and out with mouse scroll.

#47 Re: Main Forum » On "Nintendo Hard" Garbage » 2020-11-04 05:05:24

Let's change the name of the game to One Hour One Life unless you starve or get killed or you disconnect or you get born as an Eve.

What do you think about it, Spoonwood?

#48 Re: Main Forum » On "Nintendo Hard" Garbage » 2020-11-04 03:07:25

Advertisements and stuff are simplified, but it's obvious that your life can be shorther than 1 hour.
I know it's not obvious for some people like spoonwood, but what can we do with it without making advertisements completely annoying to satisfy these few people like spoonwood?

I can imagine something like 50 pages of informations and terms showing up before someone buys the game, where you could read that your life in the game can be shorter than 1 hour.
But is it worth doing it for those few people?

Only some players want to do this, I don't. I'm 100% fine with fertility restrictions. I didn't like living with other families, everyone acted like a stranger. I couldn't feel any connection to people surrounding me.
