Have you been doing your duty and making those bells? Keep cranking them out! It's always bell meta time!
Gederian, I think you misunderstand how the server selection and spawning mechanisms work. Having every server used at all times wouldn't produce the results you're suggesting, other than the spiral growing more slowly.
Either that, or I'm misunderstanding what you're suggesting. If so, my apologies.
The other key part is if there's a fertile woman you won't be an Eve. Maybe even lower the cool down. This will force towns to grow and spread or fail. We just grew too big is a much better mechanic to fail from than simply nobody was born.
I imagine most servers would have one or two lines so even if there is only 10-20 per server they will mostly be in the same town.
This will almost require you to force /die to be an Eve which I think is great for new players since they will start in towns and if they play enough they will eventually live in all towns (maybe turn lineage ban up) and get the skills to be an Eve.
I would like to see every server used at all times.
If there is a fertile mother you are born there making Eves less frequent. Less camps and more centralized villages. The spiral will also grow slower letting villages be reborn. Less lag too since we'll have 10 more servers.
That's my guess on how it would play out anyways.
I imagine at night some servers will die out and players will centralize on other servers. The low pop Eve code should get those servers going again later. The bonus is the strong villages will be able to survive the night and instead of endless Eve runs at night you are likely to get born into a town on an abandoned server.
Though if you deliberately Yummed off of the worst foods, excluding the potato, you'd have to achieve a yum of ~15 to start competing with pies.
That's a single berry or carrot competing with a pie and you gained huge benefits on YUM 14, 13, 12, etc. too.
Also YUM is not wasted so if you have three empty PIPS and eat a berry the bonus will still be there but not shown.
Love the spread sheet, helps explain how YUM works!
In terms of soil+water+till cost per pip,
milk >> mutton pie, stew > bread, popcorn, berry, berry in bowl, other pies, > carrot, raw corn, green beans,My low-effort yum chain without leaving town usually ends at 5. Is it still worth it?
Yumming: berry, Berry in bowl, mutton pie, stew, Bread, popcorn = 0.0205288461538462 total resources per pip
NoYum: mutton pies = 0.031031746031746 total resources per pip
NoYum: whole milk = 0.00535714285714286 total resources per pipAdding any more foods, only strengthens the yum-chain's advantage, though even 20 Yum can't beat milk.
Love the resources per pip breakdown.
Most towns are desert and it's very easy to work a cactus fruit, banana usually close, egg, rabbit cooked. All of these are free or byproduct!
If you want to calculate whats most efficient you can't even begin without considering YUM. It's too important.
Let's not even being discussing the fertility advantage of high YUM. I'll trade 1,000,000 PIP for a baby girl at the right time.
Sure, food at 15 yum is good, but you have to eat a lot of bad food for that to happen. And for what, to make one bite of popcorn worth 18? The other bites will most likely still be a 3 as you wont eat and break yum.
You start gaining YUM bonus immediately so even at 8 YUM you're experience huge gains that cost nothing and filling your food meter beyond max which alone is a huge advantage.
Every town will have a variety of foods and walking around town munching only mutton pies with a dozen different foods around is the the ultimate waste.
Trying to force a META just because its efficient is counter to the game mechanics (YUM) and the basic of crafting different things.
Please don't stab me if you see me making a berry rabbit pie. They're delicious.
I still don't understand why all this effort around low vs high pip foods.
Popcorn at 15x YUM > Anything at no YUM
Every food is viable and should be made for YUM.
Eat a slice of rabbit berry pie at 14 YUM and two pips left and tell me it's not the greatest thing ever. Probably go the rest of your life without eating.
I think you are both right and just mad at each other.
Pies are needed when traveling and are a byproduct so you must make them. You got off on the wrong foot here, arguing two different points.
The low pip vs high pip argument is probably mute anyways. You can't really control the major variable (what people eat) so just preach about YUM! Berry in bowl is not the same as berry in hand!
Let's just all be friends and do octo eves!
Discord is mainly for coordination so we can share info while looking for spot etc. I made a new permanent invite link https://discord.gg/XHR9Mep. Gederian, could you add that link to the top post, please?
Updated post with new link.
You don't need to join discord or voice chat, it's just for those that want to it. Happy to have anyone join!
We'll have another go at it tomorrow since our lines got cut short today...
I'm in. Waiting to be born.
Kill yourself and try again until we are eves!
I'm there waiting!

Not to steal a thread but: https://onehouronelife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=5032
I updated times on the main thread for WalrusesConquer and Nepumuk
I joined the discord chat. Let's get this going!
I'll post updates from discord here for non discord users.
- We have three people waiting in discord. If you are ready just post on this thread and we'll get going!
I also want to point out that berry is not the same as berry in bowl so yum bonus that up!
8x8 = 64 pips for bread 12 pips for cooked mutton 64 + 12 = 76 pips Meanwhile a muttion pie is 4x15 = 60 pips in total for a mutton pie. Thats 16 pips being lost making a mutton pie, and thats not including the chance of a new player coming across and eating it to refill 2 pips of his pip meter. But before you get up in arms about "oh well its more convenient for traveling" or "it takes more time to make bread and mutton then a pie". First off, if you wanna go off mining or hunting just prepare your own pies in advance, and secondly, besides the downtime of the dough turning into bread its the same rates, hell you could even be getting more mutton while thats happening if you really want be stingy about it.
Looks like you're calculating that dough makes one pie instead of four.
To be fully equal:
1 bread = 64
4 mutton = 48
112 total for bread & mutton
But four mutton pies from the same ingredients:
4x15 = 60 * 4 = 240
So pie is much better than bread and cooked mutton!
Sasooli, I added your times to the main post. Love the names NSEW.
Please feel free to organize as many quads with anyone you can!
If anyone else wants to join just post what you want your availability to say and I'll add you.
A stone/brick/iron forge?, why not it would look more advanced and be less griefable, but it would be purely aesthetic since you can do the same with the adobe forge (maybe it could last longer or have some other advantage)
What if it ran on gas too?
These are the things I would love to see! Useful things.
Teach them how to do something basic like fill bowls with berries and add a carrot?
If they can't follow instructions than show them the special "tree" where you keep the "tool" just outside town.
I updated the main post for Mandymom, apereason, and myself. We have four!
If Nepumuk can also do tonight at 7PM can Mandymom, apereason? If not how about tomorrow?
If we can get one more for 10AM to 3PM we could do that tomorrow.
We got two onboard for a 10 AM to 3 PM start tomorrow. Anyone else in? You know you want to!
Cotten t-shirt and jeans would be nice. make them whatever color. that would be good.
You want cotton jeans and backpacks?
Next Update: Boats! (that you push around in the pond and do nothing but requires 4,000 wood)
Something like pien car mind map for various things: https://onehouronelife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=4802
Not sure if you can automate this for all objects while making it simple (e.g. removing obvious steps like getting iron).
Maybe it would be easier/better to hand design them and have a static "Recipes" link.
As you may know, I've been away for a while. And I have seen how much things have changed, almost none of the people I used to be good friends with on here are left for example. So, to get caught up in what's been happening I would like to know if a few things are still common practice in the game.
Are these things still a thing -
• Religion wars
• Aurora style marriages (or marriages in general)
• Saying "in the bush"
• Dictators
• The slave market
• The drug trade
• Cults
• Sacrifices of babies
• Brother lovin'
That's nothing. We have breeding machines now... https://onehouronelife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=4770
Awesome! Lets start planning this!
If you want to join a quad post some days/times you can participate. I'll update the main post with everyone times so we can reconcile.
I'm not much of a voice chatter either. The difficult thing is just coordinating the start times which I think we can do here. Once we start going in game chat will work for most people. There will be randoms there too so we will need to chat in game.
Here are my ideal start times:
Monday - Friday 10AM to 3PM Pacific Time
I can also do a weekend evening/overnight run.
