a multiplayer game of parenting and civilization building

This is a side effect of the racial restrictions. Every new town runs out of water within a few generations and dies out, so only the lucky few who managed to find browns and blacks AND manage to actually talk to them, get to survive. This means every life you spawn into the same couple towns.
I appreciate all the anti-griefing stuff jason is doing lately, but honestly.. as long as racial restrictions and language barriers exist, the game will just never be fun for those of us who enjoy the city building.
The only yumming that makes me cringe is Burdock. I mean, you're eating 15 people's worth of pants for your 1 boost. Shame.
If someone heals a griefer, kill them. Easy as that.
I still like the idea of making it so only exiled players can be murdered, and only people with followers can exile. There can still be griefer packs, sure, but no more rogues. Plus the badge would make the griefer packs easier to identify and you could rally against them medieval style.
Yay a place to store poo
Next stop: Proper compost bin that produces in bulk?
Awesome ty
Will this continually work with the weekly updates on the steam client or is there a patch you are frozen on?
Its kind of pointless to implement an auto curse on vulgar sounding names because you'd have to go in a manually and apply the cursing mechanics to each one. If you truly didn't want these names used then why wouldn't you just remove the names altogether instead of just giving players the ability to use the names but punish them for doing so?
The names do get changed, as the OP said.. the suggestion is to curse the player for what they typed, not for what came out.

How old are you child? You know if you lived in Germany under Hitler you'd be dead, because they killed people with mental disabilities, and then we'd all miss out on your brilliant comments.
Obvious troll was obvious.
I usually work up until my end game song starts playing.. at that point i strip down and run to the graveyard. If i make it to 60, great.. if i starve, great.
i love the settings of this server
- Apocalypse is disabled
- Languages is disabled
- Longterm culling is disabled
- Race-specific biomes is disabled
- Toolslot is disabled^ these should also be on the official servers
Sold xD
I think jason just needs to straight up take the civilization part out of the synopsis. Civilization tends to mean people come together and build and thrive etc... in this game he wants all towns to die out. Might as well call it a game about Nomads giving birth.
I've never had that issue, i'm not sure.
Only thing I can think of is to double check that your requireTicketServerCheck.ini is set to 0 in the server config, and you have something (anything) written in the "email" field.
As far as setting up your own custom key/account service I can't help you there.. i've only ever hosted for myself and friends with no tickets using a client/server password instead.
You're not about to make this FORUM FOR A GAME into a debate about race. Stop baiting.
You're right, sorry. I just see someone screaming inequality and it triggers me a bit. Less about the racism, more about misrepresentation of things in the media. Same with the whole "video games are evil!" debacle.
Also, Scott Tenorman is a South Park character... purely a joke!
However gingers are not judged or discriminated against
Tell that to Scott Tenorman...
In all reality though, Racism in the US is widely misrepresented in the media. Minorities are not nearly as oppressed as the news would have you believe. Just look at all the #BlackLivesMatter studies that panned out with no result of bias and were shamelessly swept under the proverbial rug because they didn't produce the drama/evidence of racism that the media wanted them to.
Racism sells, folks... equality doesn't.
Yea, in today's video twisted was asking a black kid to farm glasswort for him and i just couldnt stop laughing. I'm terrible, I know.. xDD
White people make the best rulers, because they're the only ones who can talk to everyone.
As a medic, How do you decide who to heal. People are yelling "Don't heal, They are bad" do you ignore them?
Can the medic cause a peaceful resolution or do they just run out of pads?
If the entire town is spamming don't heal, then it's probably best not to heal them. While yes the game is prone to the occasional mob mentality, having a griefer successfully sway an entire town against 1 person is less likely than an entire town identifying a griefer/witnessing a murder etc.
Even if they were innocent and revenge killed for killing a griefer, they knew the risk.
If you didn't witness what happened right out, you can either take the town's word for it or choose to stay out of the matter entirely. Really it's just a matter of trusting your gut. If you honestly believe someone is innocent and worth healing, then heal them. Just be aware that doing so against the towns wishes could either result in your death, or result in the death of others at the hands of the suspected griefer.
Make a decision and live with it.. there's no straight up right or wrong. If you got it horribly wrong and the griefer goes on to massacre the entire town, well.. you did your best. It's just a game at the end of the day.
ok I have done everything and that is saying alot because I know nothing about setting it up. When i try to login it says login failed. So does anybody know what to do now. When i try to login the server says connection made but it fail due to wrong login format but works when not trying to connect to the new server.
What were you trying to log into? Ubuntu or the client itself after the server is up? It may simply be a case of the old 'type anything into the key' box, or may be something else entirely. Also make sure the server is not set to a different password than the client, if you have that enabled.
Your part of the story is over and you'll never get to see the end of it.
Unless you /die a bunch until you get back. Like it or not, real life people do play this game and despite people constantly saying each life is a new person.. it's not. All the above suggestion is doing is providing an alternative to /die spam.
Rofl that's hilarious xD
Jason
I really think you should make it so a player can go into setting and CHOOSE if they want to be born to the same family when possible or not. The default can be as it is now, that you get moved around, BUT if a player wants to try to stay in a certain linage because they have fun working hard to keep that family alive (and also usually stay in the same spot) I think this will do a lot to improve and fix some issues the game has. I shall list the things I can thing of:
1) Reduces the number of players wanting to use /DIE
2) Potential to open up the parameters for spawning so that less EVEs will spawn
3) Lineages will have more relevance
4) More happy playersOf course, there is no guarantee you'll always come back to same lineage, just that it is preferred given other metrics are within certain parameters. It doesn't help to force a player to be born to a skin tone that has low population, if that player is just going to commit suicide. A player shouldn't be punished and prevented from wanting to be committed to a certain family. This also would not be a guarantee that you'll come back to the same spot. As family members travel and spread out, you could be born to any of them, anywhere.
Personally, I'm a road builder. I need to be all races to help cross different biomes, and whites are handy too because I can speak to any traveler I meet while working. I'm not suggesting this for me, but many people have asked for this, and I think it would be a wonderful option. Please consider giving it a trial run and see how it works out. It should be simple to do. Just allow a player to turn off the criteria that they must placed in a different family from prior life, and that automatically turns on that prior life family is preferred if there is an existing mother who qualifies to have a baby given the other requirements. I'm not a programmer but that sounds like an incredibly quick bit of code. Am I right?
By the same token, an option to choose preferred gender would be nice too. This of course being overwritten if their preference simply doesn't fit into the existing population. Less /die that way too. Some people like playing full time moms/farmers/village tenders.. sometimes you just wanna /die to become a boy so you can explore the world.
Yea so many posts about my pie fiasco
Honestly.. it was my first game. I know the town was big because there were tons of people everywhere, so I didn't think I was being wasteful. I don't remember much except there were like... 3 beheaded geese on the left side of town just wobbling endlessly. It was comical.
Anyway I know mutton pies are the best and easiest use of resources, but I didn't think there was so much harm in making the others too xD
At the end of the day he could have just said "the yum chain isnt worth the resource cost" and my noob self would have said "ok sorry". The frustrating part was he just took the caveman approach of "VARIETY BAD. MUTTON GOOD!"
*CHEST THUMP*
But like I said I wasn't going to argue with him and let it be. Just got boring after that because pies and berries were literally the only thing I knew how to do, and I didn't want to do berries.
To my son Deric. I'm sorry that I missed your birth, first figuring out you existed when you were 32. Don't blame you if you can't forgive such a bad mom. I died next to you soon after you passed.
This made me laugh
Have you watched the tutorial?
She kept making milkweed then stone hoes with the rope...
To be fair, the tool system is so RNG dependant i've actually had on multiple occasions stone hoes that last longer than iron ones. As long as she gets more than a rope's worth from that stone hoe its technically profit without having to run back to a smith or pluck all the saplings in the area. xD
Poor stone hoes get a bad rap
