Well, the backup process (which will be disabled in the next server update) also essentially freezes the server for about 10 seconds. That happens at 8:00 UTC though, I think.
It's somewhere at that time, Chard said 0900 UTC so its close.
The key thing is that the time used in the Data logs is in UTC format so this spike happened 05:52:53 or 04:52:53 before the backup.
Alright so I took a look at the data and it only hit on Server 1 from what I can tell. I've got 22 deaths at 03:07:07 UTC that were from disconnecting or from hunger.
Here's the link : FamilyTree
Tomorrow I'll take a look at the public player logs and cross reference the death timestamps to confirm if this was just a localized issue one 1 or if it hit multiple servers since we had one other report of a lag spike death on another server around the same time this happened.
Xan wrote:Scorp I killed my first moving person on Sunday. The first time I put the knife down because I aimed at him. The second time I aimed for the tile that he was moving to and I got him. At full speed I have no idea how anyone could manage that but I got them while they were slowed. Hope that helps.
Thanks, I'll try that. But at slowdown just aiming at him directly should be enough IMO. And I wasn't the only person having this problem, so maybe he is doing something that makes it harder to hit him. At 4th attempt I killed somebody else who was crossing his path. He managed to kill 8 people this run - he was on friggin cooldown half of his adult lifetime FFS.
I think its a matter of knowing which tile the game actually recognizes him on at the moment of stabbing. I've stabbed/shot several during their slowdown and typically I have to judge which tile the game might recognize him to be on, typically like Xan said it's the tile hes moving to.
The issue with clicking right on a slowdown player that is moving is that the way slowdown is coded you might just be clicking on an animation/transition and not an actual object which would cause you to drop the knife or accidentally stab someone else.
That's just my uneducated guess though.
<3 We have really nice people on the forum.
Lol, I mean if i'm wrong I'll own up to my mistakes. It'd be more wrong to keep acting butthurt.
If you have it at hand already, could you also check it this Nameless guy
Serial griefer that would specifically kill folks from the Family Tree. Took me a minute to realize that this was on server two instead of server one.

How you check player log? Teach me.
Last Wednesday Jason posted this Thread with a link to the publicLifeLog file which contains Birth/Death stats for each day/server along with the names of each playerID.
My method of processing the data was with Excel because i didn't want to build anything too fancy, but if you do use excel you'll have to set up a processor or i can send you a copy of my Template. The reason why it'll need processing is due to data in columns 5 and up showing in the wrong spots.

If the logs show its not you I'll apologize for the finger pointing.
Checked the log this morning and you were telling the truth that you were not Steve, so I apologize for pointing my finger at you and getting all butt hurt about it.
I can see in the log you had three kills, oddly enough it doesn't count you as killing Cindy in the log file. Instead if has it chalked up to old age even though the lineage shows you killed her. Might be an override for the old age.
Where the other person i'll just refer to as Steve had five total kills, three as Steve and two other as an Unnamed.

No, I am not Steve. Steve just kill for fun. Not me.
Excuse me for my lack of believing you, but i'll verify when today's public data is updated. Maybe it was an impersonator and maybe I'm just mad at the fact that it happened. If the logs show its not you I'll apologize for the finger pointing.
Actually I had a chance to test it today. Had a griefer with knife and I had knife as well. Really hard to stab him on slowdown. I've put down knife 2-3 times, but replay shows that I've been right clicking in the middle of murderer. Finally stabbed innocent bystander instead of murderer.
The only time I've had an issue with stabbing someone who was on slowdown is when they're passing through a tile that a bystander is also standing on. Think of the baby pile next to the firepit. When you go to pick up a baby you will pick up the bottom baby. It's been awhile since i've ran into that issue though, but maybe it's the call stack or whatever you call it when you use RMB on that tile.
As for running out in the open while staggered i havent had that issue and was able to stab Subria fairly easy while he was running.
What are you talking about?
What I'm talking about is OP is going into towns and stabbing folk with little to no heads up.
Hm. I have just tried. We can kill murder with knife while he run. I will test with arrow again.
This test he had prepared a sterile pad and needle/thread to heal the person stabbed. But he said that he was going to stab someone and needed me to heal them, i forget if he told me to kill him after but after he was staggered he kept going on about a video and not being able to stab someone while they're moving. Obviously i stabbed him while he was running because this isn't the first time I've shot/stabbed a moving player.
Here is the Family tree for that character: http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … _id=494653
The second time I encountered Subria was in this life where he was playing as Steve. http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … _id=495218
This time around i saw someone running around with a knife so I told my mom. She told me he was doing some testing and i already knew it was him again. I ran after him and told him to stop, being a child my character limit was limited. Then he stabbed me. I ran to the main area of the town and got healed up and went after him again. This time he had just killed a sheep, not sure if he was trying to stab the guy in the pen or not. I told him to stop going around and griefing because at the end of the day you are just randomly stabbing people in hopes to "test" in a live environment. I.e, i told him to stop being butt mad because he was wrong about his theory and then he stabbed me again, but this time we didn't have the supplies to heal me.
Long story short, do your testing in a controlled environment and actually have someone who HAS a bow and arrow on the ready to shoot at you while you are running instead of randomly running around stabbing people.
instead of stabbing people and sheep actually tell people you asshole. Just because you were wrong about the whole "attacking while running thing" doesnt give you free reign to stab people.
Get a friend, if you even have one, and go to another server and do your testing instead of wasting resources on healing the people you griefed.
I'll just leave this here. It's a log of July MTD kills that goes over the Day over Day, Summary, #of Innocents/murderers killed etc. Determines if innocent via checking to see if that player id had committed a murder.
Also please note this is just for Server 1.
An "automatic" property rights system is something that I've thought about. Imagine a system where no one could touch your stuff. They couldn't grab your ax. They couldn't pick your field. There would have to be some way for you to pick an heir before your death.
Having the system target ownership down to individual people would be a nightmare to overtake, but i think there is an easier solution to the "ownership" problem.
Professions
It may sound a little silly but i think this would be an ideal solution to the issue. You have your first child and you name him/her. Afterwards you can say something along the lines of "you are a smith" or "you can do anything". Using the first phrase will now limit the child's access to the hammer and all the smithing tools needed. Using the second phrase has no limits on access which is how we currently play at the moment. If you want a child to do more than one job then you say "you are a farmer" after you've already declared the child would be a smith which now grants access to the hoe.
The only issue is we'd need a UI for this so we could see where we need more manpower. I'd say a text command like "/jobs" or "/professions" to have something similar to the tool tip box, but it'll come out from the left side and cover a portion of the screen. The window should show each different profession along with the hierarchy of the profession I.e, Joe Smith is the lead Shepard while Jimmy Smith and John Smith are the Foremen. Passing on leadership from Joe to Jimmy could happen in one of two ways. Joe could declare Jimmy Smith the new lead by saying "Jimmy Smith is the new Lead" or "Jimmy Smith will replace me". The other way is that once Joe has died the leadership will automatically be passed down to the most senior foreman, which is Jimmy in this example.
What if John Smith wants to go work with Sally Smith who is the lead cook? Sally Smith could first say "John Smith can work with me" which would retain John's shepard role and now give access to cooking items.
The only issue i could see with this setup is that if we name a kid the same thing we named the last kid there is no change to the name. We ought to have it coded so if there is already someone named Jimmy and another kid gets named Jimmy he will now be called Jimmy II while the original Jimmy is Jimmy I.
How do you complete such a transgenerational project? How do you communicate across generations and keep the goal in-tact?
Somehow, people built cathedrals in real life...
I think adding a "/set goal" text command would help with this. A mother could set her goal in life as "building a new town east" or maybe "getting sheep". A child could use "/goals" to review current goals in a window that would come out from the right side. If no goals were set by the mother then the goals of the grandmother will be used.
The issue with building a "cathedral" or trying to complete any long term project is there is nothing stating what the building was, who was doing it, why it was being done. In real life there would be documents on the purchase and sell of the stones needed, who was working the project, who led the workers, etc.
Hey Great Uncle Tobias, told you I'd see you on the other side. Our family is doing well after the two of us retrieved that lamb. I continued to hunt for the rest of my days killing off the surrounding wolves so the Mouflin could easily breed for reliable mutton. Without all the mutton I was able to bring in we were able to have a decent stock of pies and its thanks to you.
Your great nephew,
