#53 Re: Main Forum » *Suggestion* Cherry Trees » 2020-01-24 12:22:23

I like this idea of cherry trees that regrow food very slowly for roads. (maybe 5 times slower than wild berry bush)

Another idea:
If you plant a berry bush in the green biome and there are no other berry bushes in a range of 12x12 tiles it becomes a wild berry bush.

lol destinycall, ok i guess thats one way to steal babies

How do you even steal babies? they can just escape and run back to the fire.
poor old guy, i dont think he deserved this.

#57 Re: Main Forum » Strange occurences in the curse log » 2020-01-14 19:15:46

a bug i experienced with the curse logs is that sometimes curses dont get logged.
but i am not 100% sure of this.

#60 Re: Main Forum » Lineages Might Last Longer If Killing Was Impossible/Pesistent IDs » 2020-01-10 11:15:50

Yes, high death by killer percentage is and indication for grief.

You can see the first stats from SMITHY HEAVEN are very different to the other 3 stats.
SMITHY HEAVEN has played 1000 hours and only has a 5.64% death by killer,
the other three have played much less, started playing 1 month ago and have over 30% death by killer.
Also their kills are around 50% which is high.

I dont think SMITHY HEAVEN is a heavy griefer but the other 3 definitely are

BTW, the fact that I made a game or service for which there are 5 different clients is kindof a dream come true, as a network systems architect.

Something interesting:

It is totally possible for a clean-room OHOL client to work, using the protocol, and maybe even display the information in a completely different way.

For example, there could be an ASCII interface (rogue-style), or even a "blind" text-only interface that narrates what's going on and allows you to move and act by typing commands.  Like WALK NORTH 3.

But also, of course, graphical interfaces with totally different presentations.  There could also be graphical skins that replace all the sprites and objects with something else.  I've seen some smaller reskin mods (like for hats, trees, ground textures).  But if someone dug into the animations too, having a DOG LIFE mode for OHOL, where everyone was a dog, and babies were puppies, would be totally possible.

Or an underwater mod where everyone was a fish or a mermaid....

from here: https://onehouronelife.com/forums/viewt … 420#p77420

the mods are not hurting the game, most people use mods to be more productive, i believe mods are helping the game / making it better.
i think its very cool of jason that he is so open and lets people make mods.

#64 Re: Main Forum » OpenLife, a new client architecture for mod developers. » 2020-01-04 16:32:14

This is an amazing project, reprogramming the whole client from ground up is a lot of work and i know pxshadow already spend a lot of time doing it.
I prefer the way this is coded much more over the way jason programs, it is easier to read/understand for me.

Ever since the arc was created it has NEVER been beneficial for you to fight with other families as you set the rift closer to resetting which then wipes out anything you were fighting over in the first place. Donkeys don't get private towns just for being assholes it isn't supposed to be some sort of reward where you grief and get your own personal village on the main server.

Yes i agree, thats why i am proposing to make it so normal players can also join the hell cell if they want, so its not a private town for griefers or a reward.
Inside of it curses should be disabled. Oil and water would run out quickly and people would probably fight each other a lot.
People who like this kind of playstyle could play inside it on purpose and would not borther people that want to play outside in peace.

#66 Re: Main Forum » so we're fighing over limited resources in this game.... » 2019-11-08 06:26:19

now that jason removes the rift, maybe he could use a smaller version of it as DT.
When you login you have the choice to play inside the rift our outside, but if you are cursed you can only play inside

#67 Re: Main Forum » Completely bonkers food rework idea » 2019-11-07 17:58:02

so one person can eat the food of an entire village?

#68 Re: Main Forum » Building stuff is looking good but... » 2019-11-07 17:28:44

When this update goes live, only build east west walls, never build north south walls since they cant hold shelves.
(assuming jason adds shelves to stone walls and other walls to)

#69 Re: Main Forum » whoever made the fort in the northeast part of map on snow... » 2019-11-07 13:02:55

People who build swastikas in game dont do it because they are nazis, they do it to provoke people.
They do it so people get pissed and come to the forums and complain about it.
Then they laugh about you, every image you post about it gives them fame, every insult you throw at them joy.

#70 Re: Main Forum » hetuw mode » 2019-11-05 13:55:12

@miskas i am sorry but i am not planning to add more features.
I have stopped playing the game and as long as i am not playing it i am not planing to improve the mod, except maybe for bug fixes or tiny things.
But all the code is open source, everyone can use it and improve it if they want.

TLDR: If you dont need to be in a group to survive then you are not going to act as a group.

Plenty of people in the game acted as a group in the game before tools existed.  People did exist who didn't need to be in a group to survive, but did act as a group before.

Someone starts the fire in the oven and people come together to bake pie, or someone starts fire in the forge and people try to work together to make the most out of the coals.
But now you might not want to waste your tool slots, only need 1 smith, only need 1 baker.

#72 Re: Main Forum » Suggestion: Banners » 2019-11-03 11:59:49

If i make a map of a town i often dont know how to describe it, or if i want to talk to other people about a town.

So it would be great to have an object that gives the town an identity.
Right now you can make a sign with a town name, but thats a lot of work and nearly no one does it.

What if this banner automatically generates a random name when you make it, like the arc name.
If its placed down and you come into its range (50 tiles) for the first time, a message pops up "entering *random name* town".

thanks jason !
its cool to see

its a nice idea, but it will only catch a few players, jason recently made an update to track mods
