Read your message #26, there I stated you were not griefing and you quoted that exact part saying I thought you were griefing ? I don't understand. (Edit: nah = nope = no)

Also, sorry for earlier long post, read it, I've seen two videos Twisted killed (one your mentioned, one where he was instrumental in killing entire family line).
He griefs some in ways I stated in earlier post, nothing major though.

Also you did not answer my question, maybe for the better.

You think people will do/know how to do assigned jobs ? No. I suggest asking what kid is going to do, if rabbiting and there's one good one then tell there's one, dropzone is west of nursery (hearth) and we'll need job X, want it or another ?

You are eve you may have time for above and tell kids what's where. Which way to which large biome. Meanwhile building stuff, hitting trees or such. Grab food from bakery to nursery, basket or two. When kids leaving ask which way they're going to go, so many don't go same direction. Newbies should stay closer to camp (especially girls), bit older then bp's.

Farmer-make composts, grow crops. Get a basket of food for himself, himself. Because he shouldn't go check where is food, best starting towns I've seen is farmer comes to bakery with one bowl of wheat (if enough of those) and tells there's five more, no need to wait if baker needs'em. Farmer grabs a basket of pies and goes about his job.

Your engineer could do bit scouting, go build another one or two springs and find out milkweed for buckets and emergency-water duckpond-swarm.

Kids should do compost/bring a berrybowl to bakery every now and maybe take a picking of rare pies (well baker has also extra time) to bring to women. Kids venturing far on low food pips is waste of resources. They can also bring foodbasket for nursery. And bowl of berries for when eve gets old there's no panic.

Cook has time, so should go pick up meat from designated rabbit-skinning area, maybe skin if needed. Rabbit-hunting is all day job, so there will be baskets full of unskinned rabbits. Maybe cook drop by pen saying next batch is due soon, please bring all mutton (if sheeps) taking a basket of mutton with him. Are you usually cook ? Because once pies are almost ready, cooking takes just one warm oven for a generation or two of people. If slow clicking then cook can go ask someone in nursery to come help cook a batch.

Roads are so slow to build, so waste or resources early on. Build every 5th or so tile and use any "rubbish" to lead to closest (whatever resource).

Also, say to kids: always return tools where you picked them up. IK it takes time, but saves many others time. Make 3-5 composts, bring bucket to water'em (both, say, nw and sw of berryfarm/pen). Then poo them.

Just some hints, take'em or don't but half your post you talk about developed town and some about eve-camp, bit confused here.

By the way I have seen some of Twisted's videos and can confirm he is a griefer as well!

As far as I know I've seen all of his videos, two (you saw one) he has done killings. One was what stated earlier, one to kill a family line. And nah, I personally don't see these as griefing, killing is part of game-though there *should* be a way to live harmoniously with another family, it's just not possible at current game mechanics. It's not even possible to live in single family, but at least you can curse etc (did mechanics of that get so one could curse other lineage or even people with no surname? Idk, I don't curse easily).

Other griefing Twisted always does is overusing resources, but I'm such a fangirl np, for videos need some sacrifices.

Also I don't like him (or anyone) leaving pen that has dead lambs(or such) inside w/o carrying one out. Another easy way is to bring a basket inside, swap it between dead lamb and put the dead lamb in the basket. But leaving pen almost full (having dead lambs) is just plain stupid. But I digress.

So, please define griefing (hopefully what Twisted's done), I don't like to define mine since it's so much worse than, say, wasting all sheep (easily replenishable/prevented/limited trouble) or picking up/not picking up some plants. Or Twisted never leaving one corn to dry out (I find it odd). What kind of griefing is later stage of town having 6 rows of extra seeds ? If you're lazy enough not to make soil then I see it, not otherwise, just taking some space. Prevent: leave a soilpile OR when walking past seeing 6 rows of carrots growing build something nearby if nobody else is about to pick'em. I have other golden nuggets like that if needed wink

Edit: I've travelled world IRL and where-ever I go I see people littering landscape, whats up with that ? I do make a point to pick up one more trash than I make, where-ever I go.

#54 Re: Main Forum » Mosquitoes... » 2019-06-12 22:02:24

Contain them then. Or cut the trees behind they hide.

I move very slowly there, usually it's just faster to go around. Anyhow, since they're only wild thing that kills why not be careful there ?

Yes, there's yellow fever vaccine IRL but as vaccines do, it needs to be administered beforehand, not after. If necessary I don't see problem soonish (by Jason standards) for developed civs doing vaccinations, also some kids diseases (since game's so fast multi-vaccine for childhood illnesses is in order).

Still, I've mostly stopped dying by avoiding or moving slowly. I also take one wooden shoe when 59+ years old and go fight the darn beasts behind a tree ! So watch out, that shoe is not there to be picked up, it's there for protection.

#55 Re: Main Forum » I went outside. » 2019-06-11 10:10:49

Actually, mom dressed me, so skipped that first seal part. The closest (free-roaming) seals are really endangered, a subspecies left after glaciation, so people even do snowbanks for them to nest during winters (if it doesn't snow early enough).

Couple hundred left, so it takes a while to clothe 5-million nation.

Never seen live turkey, though seen Turkey couple times.

Corn is staple in grilling parties, but pre-cooked usually.

Hopefully this helps,

Cool - also, remember to post images here or game's discord's game-images - when asking if someone was in town I usually go to the park, take image there and put it on discord smile

Should do/start park myself also, but I've been kind of busy...

#58 Re: Main Forum » Wardrobes and dropzones » 2019-06-10 10:38:43

My standard has been: ride inside nursery THEN bakery, tell I keep bringing furries (or bunnies, eh) left of nursery. Ride out fast before needy Baker says "bring here" - no I do not bring because I do not skin, I drop flint(s) near.

Also hints (not to pein ofc, feel free to correct me):
-"wise girl always has a bowl and sharp stone in backpack"
-now more than ever is time to always bring new baskets during furryhunt !
-bring further clay since you're going usually far, and now empty bowls are so rare I often make and bake 6 or 9 while waiting my horsecart to be stolen... Also griefers won't get to them easily when I drop a pile to nursery (kid takes bowl to pick berries is common first step). Again, closer clay deposits can be dealt with people walking so why deplete them ? Let town live two hours longer...

ty pein
(why west ? because Diablo was always east... it's easy to remember, always west. Also I say left b/c newbie moms, though kids hear it too)
(why do I use odd expressions like when I am a man and telling ingame "wise girl..." ? Because ppl remember it better when one says bit odd way, same with that furries thing)

#59 Re: Main Forum » Twitch Video From a First Time Player » 2019-06-10 10:01:34

Teaching tips (feel free to give me more/correct me):

-second game (twinning), BOTH should've done same thing, learn by doing, she didn't understand some parts and missed things done since sometimes when twin did work, she glimpsed other screen. I teach a lot, by both doing same thing she wouldn't have been so confused (oh, i help by slipping a berry or two to their bowls sometimes, never carrot though). AND get twice the stuff, and they get accomplishment feeling
-I always take full basket of pies when teaching further away (just say teach for baker will be angry otherwise), so they don't run all the time to berryfarm and back. Baker comes to see you're really teaching (with knife), don't worry, fastest way he goes away is continue teaching
-I tell people game gets bit more interesting but need to learn basics first
-when she did soil+water plants she did one at a time. I always need to tell to spread ALL soil, till ALL until they realize it is much more effective to do all berries/whatever at once
-i always say asking for help is ok nobody gets angry or hurt, worst is you lose a minute of your time

-i do the chain: I mean I teach do compost-spread soil(someone elses compost since I tell it takes time to cook)-hoe-seed(at least two different so they know the idea behind it)-water. Same with smithing, start from making coal, raw iron, they hit with round stone, then make crucibles, then make tool (they hit or bring 1-2, I show beforehand how), then get long shaft for tool
-always say keep an eye on your food, eat when down
-always say six berries (and right click if one extra, someone else uses that berry)

-never figured showing home marker is so important, I just usually say stay in town it's dangerous out there wink My thought behind this is there is no point going out until you know basic stuff
-I should say: talk more to ppl, admit you new in developed towns
-should say eat pie when down to X pips
-should think how to teach usage of backpack and pockets
-should recruit teacher when nearing my death, sometimes someone else has offered help when I say I die soon, gl HF (have fun)
-should start teaching smithing by making kindling maybe, but it requires trip outside of town to be useful so usually I skip that part... should figure efficient way to do this

ty Spoonwood.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Watched it, so I try very little short(er) version than two plus hours:

-Without all the help of chats she did learn: to soil+water bushes since mother showed her. I don't think anything else but someone told she's old go to berries. That's all. With twinning she learned (partly) making compost.

-she never realized to eat later, usually ate when one pip down, also ppl tried tell yumchain=not useful for newb
-half her time was used because of clutter, and you can hear it in her voice too (shouting at one point). Pick/drop all the time
-also carried tiny berry in hand and wondered why cannot pick up stuff

-tried eating tomato, dry corn etc repeatedly

-Also, she only figured out what mouse pointer shows is bottom of screen once someone told in chat-maybe should have a message about that in tutorial ?
-She never figured out how to use her backpack/others "properly", tough to teach by talking, kind of items disappeared there, chat told about egg

-she was frustrated b/c couldn't pick up soil from compost with bowl, idk why that mechanics is, same when couldn't use basket on berries

highlight the part when she says "I want to die" bit early on... ehh

For long shafts and stone blocks, you can only fit four in a cart or one at a time

Need to correct: put two shafts to stack, put two curved to stack (for kindling in forge) and add two curved ones to two long straight ones, makes one item. So four of these means you can bring eight kindling-mats and eight long shafts in one run (in handcart with no rubber wheels).

(of course "smart girl always carry a bowl and a sharp stone in backpack" the bowl being irrelevant here)

#63 Re: Main Forum » Why don't people use fences to house sheep and cows more often? » 2019-06-09 15:10:06

Yes I think the main reason is it takes controlled click to open and close, and hence more time - compare it just with running through some berrybushes. Also newbs can see ppl running through so I fail to see a problem here.

The cost in long run is negligible - although now we returned to eve spiral it is again one to think about a bit more. Fences were used in about half towns I played last week (I wondered for a while why, but it was just because lineage length I think-cost goes down and you can also put horses there).
Also for 2 - they need also time and shovel use (last time I did some...). I'll be testing pens with north/south part being horse fences and others being adobe or such...

Please continue about optimization, not my forte'

I am surely doing this wrong

Two days ago, removed location data for they cannot be picked without permission of landowner, only anything "dead" on the ground is free-for-all here no matter who owns it.

https://www.sanakirja.org/search.php?q= … &l=17&l2=3  <- I think these are these (on island nearby) - English word is on left side, there are several versions, very strong antioxidant etc...

Edit: thank you very much for making many of ours (mine especially) day much brighter smile Also, we have three kinds of birch here, yours look like "rauduskoivu" - one with hardest leaves, the one that drops its branches down is much softer to chew, and third is rarity.

#65 Re: Main Forum » Off Topic: Any of you play KIDS yet? » 2019-06-09 10:45:59

At 4am when sun begins to rise but dew still, going for a walk and once appletrees are in bloom get some, if from friends place then ask which ones ok to cut-there are always some, and if you don't own trees he'll have good cutters nearby to use (waiting for appletrees to bloom still). So subtle smell, goes directly to oldest parts of brain leaving creativity and positivity for more imaginative parts. When having flu or not able to smell well, couple of new growth of spruce (~1cm, bright green) for either tea or part of salad-you see when they're bright they're that 1cm growth. I pick (after coffee) strong tasting young birch leaves to snack on while on walk, preferably in forest. Always just few from each tree.

#66 Re: Main Forum » Lychee's Beginner Mega-Walkthrough to OHOL » 2019-06-09 10:30:02

I suggest that you add near beginning of this BIG guide: if forgot some part of process (and cannot check onetech while playing) many people help when they see you're trying, just ask nicely (learned part of 3 sis stew myself that way). I've been helped many a time that way. Asking for help (in as short sentence as possibly) in ohol doesn't hurt like in most games. Worst is you may be ignored for a minute, nobody hurt.

This from experience, when hanging around "janitoring" I see someone not doing much of anything I sometimes go ask if I (as newb) can help on some simple recipes - during high-population hours especially I've had two-three students teaching basics. Learn by doing what I do this way I've had several times 3 ppl doing and 1-2 watching me teaching something up to smithing (I do not show except smithing, other basic stuff I teach by both/all of us doing). New population is needed and welcomed.

Also, shorten, I'm known for wall of text.

#68 Re: Main Forum » Milkweed design help » 2019-06-09 00:02:39

You're not stating the problem, you're stating suggested solution, and as Jason stated, not helpful.

Solution is needed for bit advanced towns, not from wilderness pickings early towns, and here it is:

As a kid from 3 to 4 with low pips, I munch berries (do not waste pies or such), do 3-5 composts. At 4-5 they're not ready, but someone else's are, so use those. Put hexagonal"-ish" pattern leaving empty spaces for the ropes-to-be. Plant 3 composts worth, 3-6 rows tall, starting from edge of town to wilderness. Town kids will water them usually (because they'll be at edge of town they see closest ones), for they will get most of them later.

I go adventure when I see 1-2 kids watering them, come back some years later and I will have enough for my needs, humble 3 ropes or so. Only about 3/4 usually harvested. Result: I've helped village a lot, an old person has noticed, I get BP, knife and some random stuff (so saving time and materials NOT needing to make those myself while roaming wilderness seeing what's where at my first adventure).

You're welcome.

#69 Re: Main Forum » Are Some Baskets More Civilized Than Others Or Something? » 2019-06-08 23:53:21

I don't think the issue was at all about wheat still. Just that most places I've been have low amount of bowls, so when there's 12 full of carnitas or such people needed to use one bowl at a time to move the wheat. Anyhow, no "major player" talking about this so it'll get forgotten anyhow. I'm just sad it's tougher to make bread and butter it, though yumchain can live w/o these.

Or maybe there was a loud couple of people who didn't always have an empty bowl in bp and plan how many seeds to put to it or someone nearby to take second sip of stew to empty it... Now when more than half of bowls are filled with useless crap, I say an empty bowl is second or sometimes first item with sharp stone I usually carry.

#70 Re: Main Forum » Are Some Baskets More Civilized Than Others Or Something? » 2019-06-08 07:36:18

There WAS no grain cluttery, just lazy people not moving it to bakery. That kind of people only do one thing, and since there's wheat on the ground they need to move one tile away. I try to tell my kids "wise girl always has empty bowl in bp".

I know because I did that once last week, cleaned whole 12 *gasp how much* tiles of town to 2 x 6 bowls just south of bakery and *gasp* bakers made bread !
After just few minutes of first 5 bread (it is used in pies, what a waste wink ) there was none to be had, since I hadn't eaten any bread I was seeking for it in bakery, so I went for another run to get rest of this so-called "excess" wheat, cut baked and made 6 breads, even got butter there so buttered some ! Now, no more delicious buttered bread sad *sad*

Yes, when I hang around forge (rarely) I make sure I'm the one making shears. Never saw a need for a person under age of 30 for a blade. But then they'll make bow.

Anyhow on the topic, I've got a fibre from my computer in Finland to Stockholm, from there to netherlands and from there to washington. Ping when nobody's on is about 140, so I see no real solution I could play like cs-go with my ping 8-11, ever, in ohol.

Some new kind of dancing mechanism ? Suggest it - oh sorry, one cannot suggest, must state a problem, forgot that.

Also your post is too long, only needs: "since newbs use autoaim in grief and are unstoppable" maybe adding (if you hav' 15 y: "we need new dancing method ").

#74 Re: Main Forum » Would it be possible to allow typing numbers in chat? » 2019-06-06 15:15:43

One that would be usable in game would be kind of glyph for each name, now some griefers can just get born to only long surname families and never get a curse. Maybe mouseover someone and click to get the name in one/two letter, also copyable by other players.

inb4 client crypt/decrypt shortcuts or links to pages. All of this just makes people use chat in other monitor etc, most helpful to griefers (like the snowball will be-if it will, just while ago tested it dropped item from hand when used). Why all help goes to griefers and none to other players ? I thought most players not griefing, hence snowball dropping weapon is better than missile-kill by bow just on suspicion.

#75 Re: Main Forum » On the Decline of Eve Camps » 2019-06-06 14:46:00

Jason, problem: all horse(carts) get stolen all the time from towns that need them, probably because some wish to eve. Also I leave bone-piles of SIDS now where-ever I walk.

I've brought horses back to no-horse-town as my only mission twice (same town) during last 12 hour-period.

I had suggested solution to have horsecart be able to have second horse, so people who want to try eve don't steal everything from town and try to haphazardly build town of their own, i.e. two-horse-cart where one can be detached. Not much programming there to do, just change item from two-horsecart to one horsecart and one horse (with lasso) from horse-fence. Not too elaborate solution, feel free to suggest easy to code one too.

When I were a male I could do all the stuff, make eve-camp reasonably far and come back when old, asking someone wanting to eve. Maybe even give name (*gasp* use for RP'ing marriage if woman gets my last name easily-or we're from same lineage who cares).
