Mining never leads to injury or death.

Imagine a story like this:

You're about 4 years old.  You're looking around town.  You see your grandfather for the first time.  He's limping.  Putting together a farming tool.  You ask him "GRAN" "WHY" "YOU" "LIMP?"  He responds: "SON" "I WAS MINING" "ROCK FELL" "HURT MY LEG" "YOU HAVE IRON FOR HO NOW" "WAS YOUR GRANDMA'S FIRST HO"  He puts the hoe down at your feet and continues. "I WAS LUCKY" "MY FRIEND" "HIS HEAD" "GOT CRUSHED"

"My father worked the mines, until the day it took his life. Stole him from his only son, and it stole him from his wife..And I swore upon his grave: Someday, I would make things right..So I learned how to bend steel, I learned how to make it move..And I watched as it withstood all the hell we put men through..With hands of iron..There's not a task we couldn't do"

This will be the eventual reason for the atomic powered robot spoon. They will be made for good and abused for evil just like every other tool ever.

I don't think so.

Around the time when tool slots were first implemented. I remember him thinking about the possibilities of what could happen if you didn't know your tool and.. hurt yourself.. In a pretty comical way.

Funny enough, I know Jason has seriously considered something along those lines..

jason says that games looks bad zoomed out. Yes MAX Zoom Out looks bad but What about 1 tile zoom out?

1 tile zoom out I think would help to have a better view on surround area and the image quality doesn't deteriorate
increase of the east to west from 10 tiles to 12 tiles and the north to south from 6 to 8

I use zoom and most of the time I play on this scale 12*8 and it is all I need to be able to work my game through and do staff.
The wheel could be used to adjust the zoom if someones want to.

Yeah I pretty much do the same, just one step back.

Don't think it will ever change though.

Well they stil got farther than I thought they'd get..

The longest lines were all around 50 to 60 gens and then all of the sudden they skipped a 20 gen gap and started going to 80 gens.

It doesn't stop leaking water pipes. That's what I get for trusting the guy at the hardware store.

Heh there's actual water resistant tape you can apply underwater. Poor wondible didn't get that Nashua brand good stuff.

Flex seal is great in it's liquid form, as a sealer and bonder,  but I still prefer plasti weld.

At the root of the problem is the design choice that encourages griefing. Many mechanics exist only to empower griefers. The mean pitbull for example. Stealing and scrapping engines for example. Before, engine griefing was never a problem. The game was deliberately changed to enable this kind of griefing.

Jason likes griefers, and he likes giving them the tools they need to hurt you.

So shouldn't we be discussing why grief is good and what role it should play in an ideal society. What can we do to balance grief so that it's real and present, but not overpowering?

Drama gud.

Killing bad.

Need more in between.. a contest.. or some kind of personal score settler.

"Hey I disagree with you and hate you"

"Well I disagree and hate you more hombre"

"Well we're gonna have to get the whole town who doesn't have the time to get into our personal squabble."

"We could just go outside of town and settle it there.."

"But why not just have an item we can both use in town to duel? So nobody else has to be involved, and we dont have to arrange a far spot to meet?"

"Idk man.. hold on I need to grab a pie"

Pushing apart is problematic, because of biome restrictions and needing to find other races to climb the tech tree, correct?

Even before that spoon. Since the start.. or at at least when I started playing. Even before the need to find others, there was always the want to find others. It's human nature.

Let's discuss the underlying issue here. Why don't people want to play eve?

What can we do to fix eve play and make it worthwhile again?

Eve has always been 1 of 2 things.

1. Start fresh on your own untouched land.

2. Find a dead village to reanimate

The problem now is with 1. There's not enough "untouched land" around for eves without pushing us apart, which is bad. Only if your a really lucky eve and catch the eve chain on its most north or south dip can you really get fresh land still.

Therefore most of the eves are stuck doing option 2.

His name has long since been forgotten.. or rather we only have his initials.

This whole site is still powered by the sacrifice he made to turn himself into a flux capacitor.

At the very bottom of the page we have a memorial and a reminder.

"Powered by FluxBB"

Bless you B.B. for your sacrifice so that we may write.

How long have you been here?

Heh a day after you. But I have spent too much time going through the old form posts just to get a history of things I guess.

I was just plugging numbers into the user id's id starting at 2 (jason is 2)and the first one that comes up is 8.

#66 Re: Main Forum » auto-update » 2020-04-26 23:35:42

I know about zed, but he wasn't the first fourm user.

It actually goes to "a_fiendish_thingy"

His user ID is 8

#68 Re: Main Forum » No Wild Foods for an Eve » 2020-04-26 02:39:46

I've definitely seen it mentioned on discord.

Eve is pretty screwed right now.. he might need to double the initial wild foods spawn rate if this food situation is staying the same.

Im hoping I'm wrong, and everyone shifts to corn, but we'll just have to see at the end of the week if any family makes it over that mark.

#71 Re: Main Forum » We can't keep alive a family of 6 » 2020-04-24 23:17:22

Im convinced that the hard limit on generations is 50 to 60 now and until a change is made, no family will EVER live past gen 60.

It doesn't matter how much you yum, if theres not enough time to make food before you starve, then your dead.

The food value at those higher gens are insane and even if everyone has 15 to 20 yum it's still not enough.

#72 Re: Main Forum » AWBZ Private Server - How to Update? » 2020-04-24 20:39:07

Yeah i didn't see the server part till later ._.

But I knew a private server that kept the contents of the map the same with each update. I think he had to save the map data before each one, but he was able to keep the same map through multiple updates.

So I know its possible at least.

#73 Re: Main Forum » AWBZ Private Server - How to Update? » 2020-04-24 18:37:01

Oh on a private server..  jebus I need to read better.

Was trying to find an answer before posting but I wasn't able to find anything, so hopefully its ok that I post a mod question on this forum. I tried updating the server it the same way I would update the mod- by going into the game location and copying the updated files over the old ones. I downloaded it from https://github.com/Awbz/OneLife/release … Life+_v330 and chose OHOL+_v330 for windows.

The server runs fine when I play it on the un-modded file, but when I try to run it through my IP it says "version mismatch" and on my own modded version, the message "it looks like you updated the mod before downloading the latest game update. Use your un-modded client to update first". Not sure what I did wrong or even what I was supposed to do. Hope I didn't mess things up too bad.

If this is the wrong place to ask, would appreciate being directed to the proper place.

Thanks!

Well the only way that ever happened to me was downloading the mod first before the new update. I have the steam version though, so i just updated the game and it worked after. It just sounds like it didnt update just right.

Maybe delete, redownload everything from scratch, and try again. But this time do the mod last.
