#51 Re: Main Forum » What do you name your kids? » 2018-04-14 03:40:07

Arya Stark, Sansa Stark, Brandon Stark, Ned Stark, Rickon Stark (If I'm an Eve).

Link, Zelda, Ganon, Bob, George, Kenny (If I'm a mother).

It really depends, but I use the names at the top most commonly~

#52 Re: Main Forum » What dose everyone want out of the game? » 2018-04-13 22:46:18

In the game's current state, what I want out of this game is to be able to live (have a life until 60) within the best settlement or civilization. I will always reborn until I find the best one, before re-birthing to find the next best one.

The best aspect of the game is how stories are formed when you cooperate with good players or when you chase down evil ones as a town guard.

#53 Re: Main Forum » What’s a good sign to tell if you’ve succeeded as eve? » 2018-04-13 22:23:14

My way of knowing if I was a successful Eve are based on an accumulation of conditions.

I am a successful Eve if:
-I live until 60.
-I have daughter/s' and their antecedents are forthcoming
-I make a settlement near the necessary resources for survival (Swamp 'and' Savanna)
-I taught my offspring how to do things if it seems as if they don't know what to do (I also make sure to teach them that clothes are essential as it saves a LOT of food).
-I make at least one type of clothing.

#54 Re: Main Forum » So What are Penguins for? » 2018-04-10 19:14:27

So it's settled: The purpose of Penguins is to keep the babies of neglecting mothers company until they die from starvation.

#55 Re: Main Forum » Suicide Babies » 2018-04-10 19:08:22

I'm pretty sure the reason is part of your second paragraph: They try to respawn in the town they've been in a previous life.

There's less fun in doing that, in my opinion as it beats the purpose of the game.

#56 Re: Main Forum » Disatisfied with the direction the game is goi. » 2018-04-09 21:22:10

About the apocalypse, it was essential to restart from scratch to force new players to get to know the basics. Before that, ruins could be found everywhere.

The only problem was that the apocalypse only needed to happen once rather than four or five times at a fast pace, which is why it got disabled for now until it becomes much harder to achieve one.

#57 Re: Main Forum » Guild System » 2018-04-09 20:22:54

I don't see the point of having a guild system as a mechanic for a game like this. The idea is to always improvise with a new set of strangers each time you're born. The concept of a guild was thought up by humans, so it's a system that should be talked about and formed by players within the life you're currently living, depending on the community/generation's reliance.

When more clothes become available higher in the tech tree, different attires could serve as a visual representation of what profession a player has, just like people in the real world.

As for murderers or griefers, they can be ganged up on for certain with towns that have more than one weapon available--my argument for how that can work is thst , from my experience, there are many more respectful and considerate players working together than there are egoists.

#58 Re: Main Forum » Adams and men having children? - Bring on the Dads! » 2018-04-09 20:08:27

I find men to be as useful as women in the game. They can work more without worrying about giving birth often.

#59 Re: Bug Discussion » Can't use backpack due to hair. » 2018-04-09 04:10:13

I had that happen to me a few times. Maybe it depends on the girl type.
It kind of makes it hard to click the bag when it's behind long hair, almost gotta be pixel perfect.

#60 Re: Main Forum » Is this the new Dwarf Fortress community? » 2018-04-08 19:32:00

Handling a griefer or murderer in OHOL is easier than handling one in DF, I find, for how players in OHOL have have a mind of their own and have the opportunity to strike back, whereas Dwarves in fortress mode get shocked and panic, which causes them to run across rooms like headless chickens into a downward spiral.

#61 Re: News » End of the apocalypse, and lag fixes today » 2018-04-08 06:25:56

He does plan on adding more content, but right now he has to toy around with performance issues (such as fixing the lag from yesterday, which thankfully got fixed) and balancing the game out after observing a month of progress from players. The apocalypse had to happen before being able to tweak some aspects to see how new civs will approach the balanced changes, without relying on old ruins for the time being.

#62 Re: Main Forum » What now? » 2018-04-08 06:12:53

I have been wondering that too. I wonder if the current distance between each Eves's spawns is too much. We'll have to wait a a few days or a week of playing to find out.

#63 Re: News » End of the apocalypse, and lag fixes today » 2018-04-08 02:22:34

Glad to know what's been going on in the background, as well as how it's being addressed.

Can't wait till more content gets added again. Also, don't feel too pressured Jason, most of us can be patient and know that maintnance takes priority.

#64 Re: Main Forum » Is this the new Dwarf Fortress community? » 2018-04-08 01:43:51

I am a DF player, although it has been more than a year since I last played. I think it really has to do with the positivety of the community, for sure. The game is hard enough that people are put into a situation where they have to cooperate in-game and, for that, on here.

#65 Re: Main Forum » let's talk about how often you die building settlement & family as Eve » 2018-04-07 05:11:49

The trick is to always be on the lookout for a bush and wait until you have a berry in-hand, on a full stomach, before exploring again. The primary goal for an Eve is to make a basket as soon as possible to better carry the berries and to then improve on that.

#66 Re: Main Forum » Apocalypse 5 » 2018-04-06 22:22:04

I think they're turned off after the world had been cleansed. It was turned off after Apocalypse 4, so there had to be a 5th cleansed for it to take effect.

That's what I think though.

#67 Re: Main Forum » What is the real idea of this game? » 2018-04-06 20:43:22

The game is in a calibration state, Jason is only experimenting to see what works and what doesn't, based on the statistics and comments players have given so far, all while adding new content. The game has only been released to the public, so for sure there're adjustments to be made.

It will ultimately be a balanced game in the end, at the pace he's working at, for sure.

#68 Re: News » Update: The Apocalypse » 2018-04-06 14:02:18

This might prevent me and my family from creating the best and biggest town in the long run, but I'm sure in the future, the apocalypse will get harder and harder to achieve as the tech tree gets more complex~

#69 Re: Main Forum » Police Officers » 2018-04-05 15:59:45

I kind of was a town guard since I had a knife during that life, except I was productive as well while watching: Farming and handling Milkweed to make carts while not straying too far from the population.

Stereo murder screams really help pinpoint where a murder has taken place, thankfully. Does anyone know how far a scream can be heard?

It would be cool if the trigger was us, and our reckless use of the environment.

I have a read a comment somewhere that mentioned that Jason once talked about adding a doomsday device that could be made and triggered by players. I love that idea so much, mainly for how it'll probably be very far in the tech tree and the players will somewhat have to work together to ensure it's not activated, haha.

#71 Re: Main Forum » New player starting woes » 2018-04-04 23:29:50

Being lucky and be born into a well maintained civilization that fully clothes you from the start really helps. Clothing is the #1 priority I find, so I make sure to make enough clothes for everyone in most lifetimes that lack full sets.

#72 Re: Main Forum » Apocalypses?????? :O » 2018-04-04 23:24:55

I like to think that there is now a small chance of an asteroid impact, to wipe the server.

#73 Re: Main Forum » The worst griefer I have seen » 2018-04-04 23:21:38

During lives that I own a knife, I ensure to get rid of those kinds people. Thankfully I'm sometimes not the only guard who watches over a town, when more weapons are present.

Luckily, I haven't met a lot of mean players like that, I only saw one case where all the bushes in a farm were dug up deliberately.

Were you a baby just south of a farm when you died? It's possible that I might've been that mother.

#75 Re: Main Forum » Chill out server » 2018-04-03 16:39:53

I see! Thanks, will see if that's the case later.
