But I am pretty sure you already know that, OneOfMany.
You can call me One. (if you're being nice)
There are issues with family specialization and limited fertility, but a simple sprite shuffle, might help in-game racism, maybe not. Never know, unless you try.
So, how would that change make things better? Racism is racism, which race has superior status matters less than that some race gets treated as having superior status.
That's exactly my point. Racism is racism. Who you believe has better stats, as a race (sprites inspired by Jason) is in essence racist. If you think the white people are being given preferential treatment, in game, would it not solve the problem if their sprites were changed in the game. It wouldn't end racism in the world... but would it end it in the game? I am interested in your opinion.
Also, I'm not a fan of you, OneOfMany, quoting me on something that I didn't say. OneOfMany made this post quoting me, in the very first post of this thread, so clearly I didn't say what has gotten attributed to me in this context. Putting words in other people's mouth like that is not nice.
That's exactly why I did it. In the first post. That's actually why I asked if I stepped over the line. This quoting thing is an exploit in the forum, that's what I wanted to point out. I want people to understand the exploit, so they can identify it, if used.
Again, I apologize for this Spoonwood, while you may not consider me a friend, you are mine.
Please switch the sprites of the language family to the desert family. Put the "White" family in the desert with glass and the "Black" family in the wilds with only language. It'll be equally prejudiced, but in the opposite direction.
Spoonwood, I do apologize. I very much like your combative thinking and quite frankly more people need to speak out about racism and xenophobia. Although, sometimes I do feel you are grasping at straws or looking at something in a distorted way. Or maybe I just need to be more informed, but I can still respect your viewpoint and I would ask you, would making this simple change make an impact for you in the game?
What?!?
If, I stepped over the line with this post, let me know.
Yes, I am still taking applications. Just got a bit busy with live and what not. I'm happy to pimp all your profile pics.
-.- .- .-. .-.. - --- .-- -. --..-- / -.-- --- ..- / .- .. -. .----. - / .-- .-. --- -. --. .-.-.-
I do. What's up?
For having a name like "NoTruePunk", you don't seem very punk, but what do I know.
(but, just to cut you off, it'll be $5, whatever it is, it'll be $5 or more)
I would like two people making out. It must be hot. If you do this for me I will be your forum gf that’s my bribe
Boy Oh Boy... Did you step in to it with this one. I feel I need to bite my tongue on this one. "People" is pretty straight forward; as is "making out", but "What's hot" is in the eye of the beholder.
I could make you something, and it would be hilarious, but I'm not trying to get banned from the forum. Although, you are the the first person to offer me something. Either way, baby, I got a headache tonight, maybe tomorrow.
Besides, you already have a profile picture. Naked profiles, to me, is like seeing someone in town running around naked. I just cringe.
Can you make picture like karltown_veteran has...
Well....
1. Yes.
2. You could just steal his pic (especial if I make him something and he decides to take it (both unlikely))
3. Karltown is willing to be my forum b****... What do you bring to the party?
(on a side note - this thread is a bit of a performance piece, so here's a free profile pic for anyone who want's it (limited time only, I'll be changing it soon))
What is the question?
In this thread I am willing to answer the unanswerable, but they must be put in the form of a profile picture request. It's a bit like Jeopardy, in that way.
How about the Nigerian Prince doing some sort of interaction (any) with a Tarr Slime from slime rancher while saying the phrase "Hi Fug! :3"
Ok, but I like to use my own reference materials. Your idea of a Nigerian prince wasn't all that accurate, so I improved it. Here you go. Get it while it's hot.
Yes, please wear clothes, any clothes on every slot, because believe it or not it's more beneficial to wear clothes than not to wear clothes. Umm.. who's arguing about not wearing clothes? If you know how to cloth yourself, do it; If not, learn.
First take care of head. After that... it's up to you. (on a personal note.. Spoonwood don't you dare steal my profile picture!)
This is an intense game. It's like Rust but, without the shooting. The intensity of play does not suit itself to casual conversation, which is the best part of the game. After all, the point of playing any game is to have fun. When you're new it's easy to get overwhelmed. I think it's important to think of us veteran players, as the third tutorial. Take your time to teach your kids, or your mom, how to eat (ie, yum, farm, cooking, diversity of food) Drop in an "ILY" to them and they'll be hooked. The experience in playing varies greatly between lives. Shitty lives, awesome lives, lives where you don't matter and others where you save everyone. This is a shitty game, by all respects, but the game play can be incredibly conducive to dopamine surges.
I'll consider it, but seems too close to the first one. Do you have anything more creative? Like, "I want my profile picture to be answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything"... you know, something like that.
Awww. Thanks man. It was an odd request, but it was exactly what I was looking for. BTW, I'm still taking requests, if anyone's interested.

I think it's preposterous to believe that in a hypothetical future, humans wouldn't have the ability to move turkey flesh with their hands.
Ever since the global disaster that left every surviving human with only one functioning hand, we have had to adapt in many ways. Find new ways to live, new paths to success, new ways to combine exactly one object with one other object.
We have these rules for a reason, Spoonwood. They exist for our protection and our children's safety. If people went around recklessly tearing apart turkey carcasses without a knife, the world might once more descend into the chaos of those dark days before the Great Reset.
Nobody wants that. The penguins almost won.
First off, you two are adorable. I love the type of banter you guys get in to.
Second off....
Last I checked, it was a poor choice. Not much, if any, advantage over normal feeding. I haven't bothered running the numbers lately with the new sheep mechanics, but I am pretty sure free mouflon babies beat sheep babies, any way you look at them.
Anytime Destiny chimes in on the math, I feel I need to check her numbers. (No Offense Destiny, I love you like a little sister)
I did the math, I checked it out, and there are some weird things possible.
Using carrot rows to make baby sheep, is just slightly better on water consumption, but it has an interesting compost benefit. An "eaten carrot row" can be re-tiled (no compost needed) or scoped up with a basket to make three soil. There is a negligible gain on water consumption (row vs feed), but there is a boost to compost/soil. I don't think it's anything too remarkable, but it would mean in certain situations, it would be beneficial to use carrot rows instead of feed to get baby sheep. I doubt this would become a regular behavior in the game due to it's obscurity and the fact it's only beneficial if done correctly.
Oh and of course, free mouflon babies will always beat sheep babies.
Didn't know, my apologies. ty ty
No problem, happy to do it.

What kind of truck? Semi, Tanker, Delivery? <here you go, your welcome> Get it while you can. I will change my profile picture soon.
Kinda low quality tbh but ok
Profile pictures are limited to 60x60 pixels and it has to be less than 10k. Don't be upset if you ask for too much. Ya Basic! Next...
Does anyone grow a row of carrots to make sheep have lambs, and then feed the lambs berry-carrot bowls?
Like growing a row in the pen? I've never seen it.

Just be very careful. If you kill all the sheep and some joker comes along and slaughters the mouflon, you are kinda screwed.
Yes, that's always the case and there's plenty of Jokers. In the case of an Eve town, it seems quite reasonable to use sheep skins for easy/quick clothing since they can later be repurposed for better clothing. And when the inevitable Joker comes by, you can always get another mouflon. If you want to play the meta game, release a couple of sheep in biomes near by. This allows for easy recovery from a sheep killer.
When you get shears you can still use it on the sheepskin to turn it into wool. [...] Am I missing a downside to it?
Wow, I didn't know that. Was that something new added? I swear you learn something new everyday in this game. As far as a down side, I don't see one, with this being true.
How reliably can you travel on foot to other towns using the default client?
I only play vanilla (I have my reasons, but I'm okay with anyone using whatever they want) and when playing vanilla, there are certain precautions you must take when traveling, but if you're smart, you'll almost never die to an animal.
Here's a couple of my rules for not dying while traveling.
1. Stick to the Green and Yellow biomes as much as possible.
2. When entering Mountains or Swamps
a. Try to move East or West. Going North and South are even more dangerous since you can only see two tiles ahead.
b. Move slowly and with purpose.
3. When encountering a dangerous animal, simple step outside of it's preprogrammed path, wait for it move, then run to the next safe spot. As long as you can stay outside it's Queen like movement potential, it can't get you.
4. And this is most important if playing with the default client. Don't go on foot. Take a freaking horse and avoid deserts.
And yes the family homeland restirction does lot more harm then good...
At one time, families could intermingle easily and build cities in relative harmony. Current birthing mechanisms keep the families in their own towns for the most part. This is the opposite of 2) in my opinion and generates a lot of harmful results. Without scrapping the current system, could this be fixed by having an elder "adopt" a non-ethnic woman into the family and have them continue to birth her ethnicity or random spawning of the two ethnicities?
I agree with both. Perhaps it's time to bring the families together through marriage. Then the kids of the married couple could have kids at either well site and add racial/biome diversity to a town. Marriage could be a late game addition where you have to build a wedding structure like an arch covered in roses to have he ceremony at, maybe even have a restriction of an elder having to perform the ceremony, like a peace treaty. IDK, don't ask me, I just liked it better when multiple family lines could live together.
I assume it's a decent amount of charcoal and rubber?.
Both of these are a renewable resource.
My advise is, just borrow a cup of rubber from your neighbor and never be without. They won't mind. Besides, in your next life you'll be in the jungle family anyways.
Why would you assume malicious intent? The water system in this game is byzantine. The average player probably has no idea if using a diesel engine on a shallow well is good or bad without consulting OneTech. Even then, the answer is unclear.
That's like saying that using a hoe on a full pile of dirt is griefing because it is obviously a waste of valuable compost, which costs more time and effort to produce than iron for new hoes.
Sub-optimal play is NOT the same as intentionally ruining the game for other players. If it was, all new players would be griefers, by definition, because they are constantly making honest mistakes while trying gain a better understanding of the game.
I have a problem with people using the word "griefing" to describe any behavior they do not like. It dilutes the meaning of the word until it could mean almost any negative action.
I couldn't agree more. Too many people are labeled as griefers. If you wanted, you could consider anything greifing. I like to talk when I play, some people would consider that griefing. Don't get me wrong but, there are ways to cause real problems, but even then it just adds to the experience. Love them or hate them, real griefers add intrigue.
