By unofficial client do you mean your zoom client or modded with extra content like 2hour1L(I haven't tried this. I am guessing development branches from an older version )?
Neighter of those. I would still consider zoomed client to be official-like as it does not modify any aspect of gameplay itself while 2HOL is not "unofficial client" rather than its own game at this point.
I'm talking about this:
(this is how Santan "looks" like in debug mode btw)
I should burn in hell to laugh at retarded people
Did you mean Ree Tarr people? Also, lets keep it civil here. He might actually be a skilled player, right?
"hey jason i'm breaking your game"
wind whistling
Sounds oddly familiar... Oh, wait, thats right. Thats how Jason got to know me at first

Also, game is both open source and public domain. You can do whatever you want with it. Just look how mobile version was created by 3rd party. They took OHOL code (and take it on regular basis for updates), repacked for mobile and sell it for cheaper price (while hosting their own servers).
But because its open source its not a problem to just compile your own client with any bot-protection or captcha removed. Thats basically what Zoomed Out FOV Mod is that I'm providing for people. Its oryginal source code with some restrictions modified and compiled.
Even if the client source code was not publicly available, technically speaking protocol used by OHOL is very easy to recreate in your own application and you can write your own bot client in simple matter of hours (if you don't care about the graphical display like me - Santan works purely in console/terminal with no GUI).
Edit:
Also, what you pay for when you buy "the game" is not the game itself. What you buy is access to two services:
- Ability to login to official servers hosted under onehouronelife.com
- Access to already compiled and ready-to-go version of cliet distributed though onehouronelife.com
You actually don't need to pay the game to get client or server itself (compiling yourself or downloading from 3rd party like ohol.joriom.pl/download/list) and you can even redistribute them. You simply won't be able to access public servers hosted by Jason.

You never noticed the +bonus number ticking down?
How could I notice that if I haven't played with official client for 4 months now?
I spent a whole life collecting and baking different foods to try out the yum bonus and ate all the foods in my next life. I got up to a yum bonus of+13, but it MADE NO DIFFERENCE to my hunger level or how fast my hunger went down or how many pips I had. What did I do wrong? I must be misunderstanding something.
Yum bonus does not decrease the speed at which you get hungry nor does it allow you to store more pips. All it does it increases ammount of hunger restored by each new food type you eat.
For example food that restored 4 pips without yum bonus will restore 4. The same food with yum bonus of 5 on you will restore 9.
Smart people that expect to be traveling soon might reset their yum bonus and build it up again on man-made food (that can't be found in the wild) and take some "complex" food that restore a lot of pips into their backpacks. When they already have high yum bonus and they've emptied their backpack they can still live way longer while traveling. Eating randomly found food like a berry, burdock or cactus fruit that would not restore much pips without yum can fill you up now. Sadly - many times its just better to eat all those 5 berries from a single bush than preverve your yum bonus hoping to find something you havent eaten yet. It also takes a lot of goundwork for it to be worth it.
Other use of yum bonus is to reduce the ammount of food needed by diversifying your food production - thus, the more kinds of food you have, the less you need to actually produce, or the more people you can sustain with it. This assumes that your population knows how to use this system though. Imagine having 4 plant based foods that resotre 4 pips each. Thats 16 total. If those would be 4 different plants, even if they still restored 4 pips each it would now become 4+5+6+7 = 22 pips.
Sadly, when provided with different foods, most people will first eat out one type, then the second, third and finally fourth - not all of them in equal ammounts to preserve yum.
That's odd... I've always seen a very big difference in how much slower my hunger level decreases when I get my yum bonus that high. In fact, even +6 or 7 makes a big difference for me. Whenever I get over 10, I only need to eat very rarely. Were you standing in a bad temp spot?
Your observation is correct - you don't need to eat as often. Your deduction is flawed though. Its not because you get hungry "slower" per say. Its because you restore more, so even with the same hunger speed, it takes longer to get low.
i dont want to spend a life to prepare things for grandkids who cant even survive
But.... thats like a whole point of this game, is it not? If you don't believe me - confront this with Jason himself.
On the topic of structures required around the item itself - I can't really see that happening due to Jasons policy about whole "crafting system" in OHOL. It's always meant to be A + B = C + D where A or B can be time or user interaction itself, while D is optional. Jason already stated few months ago that in his mind there is no room for "between tiles interaction" with current implementation and hes not willing to rebuild it from zero. That was one of points against rivers from what I remember or maybe something more. And here we're talking about whole structure detection. But yeah, TL;DR; OHOL engine is limited and not really flexible for stuff like that (at least in Jasons eyes).
littlemissmesssy, please understand this is a game related forum. This is not place to advertise yourself or solve your private problems on public forum. I'm sure there are places specially created for those purposes - I would suggest you try them. If you feel a need to talk about your problems, please email me or message directly on Discord and I will personally help you find nearest support group. Otherwise such outright trolling attempts will not be tolerated. Please stop it.

Lol thats how u look like and you criticise me ? Im 10 times way better looking then you looool
Nothing wrong with being proud of ur look but there is something wrong with making someone feel bad about themselves how do guys know that im not a suicidal person that would cut myself cuz im depressed but nobody cares do they? I would never hurt anyones feelings i never know what that person is going through
I think I will go kill myself now. Thanks...
...
No, but really, hypocrisy at its finest.
Lets start with with facts - nobody commented about you directly LMM (I can't be even bothered to fully spell your nick at this point) and yet you took something personally. Hit the table... Do you have reasons to believe you're a vain person LMM? Wait, not, I don't really want to hear an answer.
What I want though is for this thread to be back on the topic of Donkey Town. If we start namecalling here - I'm stomping my foot and closing yet another one.
@VioletLily
Are on you discord? Sadly, there is no direct message option here on forums and I don't really want to derail this topic anymore. Or just hit me up by email so we can chat.
I have looked up as much about Santan as I can, and other than the old random walking code you made, I did not find anything other than a bot coded to eat the nearest berry bush. What does this bot do now and what could be done to detect it?
I try to avoid giving to much details about how Santan really operates because I wonder how long will it take for people to find him out on their own. Also - if I give you any real details, you would most likely find him, investigate him and find better ways of recognizing Santan. Game would be over at that point

Yup, it's me.
I'm jealous he gets to dye his hair that color. I'm not sure how that would fly with my work. Even so, my hair can't take to amazing dyes like that. I think it looks pretty cool!!
If you love you hair and care about them a lot - don't. I have natural black hair and I need to bleach it for few hours and then dye it for few hours every ~2 months (would do more often but I can't stand that much time wasted to often). That KILLs them, really.
OHOL bots are called santans because they used to be born as players and just say 666
Not all of them. Just mine as far as I know. If anyone else developed a bot and would name it Santan I would strongly object
Yup. It was only walking around randomly saying "666" from time to time back before he (me) got banned but there have been significant improvements.
And yet Santan can survive up to old age on a regular basis.
Yeah, the thing about bots is that EVERY movement for EVERY scenario has to be programmed. I don't think you understand the meaning behind how difficult this is.
Thats where you're wrong. There are generalized solutions where you try to match a certain pattern to decide on correct action and even then you have "default" behavious as fallback. On top of that there are self learning neural networks that don't really expect you to know all the possible moves beforehand - more, they can expand factors being taken into account in the decision making process on their own. My solution is mostly based on patterns but neural network is a must for scalability.
If I could I'd make a farming bot. One that waters all berries within a radius or something.
I find the concept of automated griefing quite amusing though. Imagine if he used two bots, one for wearing off curse and another to make/find a knife and murder nearby players.
What makes you think none of those things are already in place? Also, you think how my bot got its nickname, "Santan"?
Can someone send me a link to the discord you guys are talking about? I would like to use that.
Invite link to the Discord server is at the very bottom of official onehouronelife.com website.
You don't really need an "advanced bot" to log in, find berry, eat some berries, move randomly around, finally starve or get eaten by wolf, repeat.
Jason himself provides us with basic bot called "Stress Test Client" in his game code. You just need to compile it. It logs in and runs around randomly untill it starves.
It does not login to official serves (does not have auth support in it - so only custom servers without login check enabled) and does not reconnect but it took me just few minutes to fix those problems back when I was using this as a base to develope Santan bot.
Looking how protocol is basic ASCII text messages and how its well documented in game source code - you could realistically write a basic bot that releases curses, from scratch on any platform in just few hours. Remember - you don't need graphical interface for bot to operate - just the terminal/console window. Behind the scenes everything is number and how they are organized is very well documented and publicly available - provided by Jason himself.
Why adobe though? Does it really need to be a blocker? Can't you just block 3 tiles in every direction (including diagonals) away from cave? (I believe bears still can't stop on items and they only move 3 tiles away, right?)
That would require you to have up to 27 random items, but most of the time you can find some trash around like small stones, pine needles or even flint. And every natural blockade like tree reduced that ammount by up to 3.
Superfun2 you really need to chill out a bit mate. If most of what you bring to conversations is baiting, "ree", "lulz", some sporadic curse words and salt in general, you'd better take few days off or you'll meed the fate of that TOEDS guy on the Discord if you know what I mean.
You have been warned.
Thanks, Eves with those last names will be the first to be sent to Donkey Town by Santan curse bot initiative.
