bio fuels are a scam. to keep up current standard of living we need cheap fossils not only for electricity and transport ,but for chemical components used in all sectors of economy.
There is hope those working on rewriting server code in openlife project will release working version before memory of OHOL completely fades away. They got some interesting ideas for this game, way beyond just stuff like watering cans.

The real fix for high tech vehicles would be to limit their movement when offroad. Just reduce speed on non paved surfaces to walking speed .I guess no more exploring in truck, but at least they won't be lost miles away from towns.

My bad i checked transitions and fence gates always block moving. I was sure it can be opened permanently.
Top and bottom left sheep can escape if gate gets opened manually. You need to move box one tile up.
Idk if this will take off there is already a branch of OHOL - Two hours one life and it has very small player base even though there are no race restrictions and lots of more things to craft. It is more single player oriented.
Multiplayer games that are not popular stay unpopular cuz people don't like playing alone.
You need few hundreds people just to keep game alive 24/7 so your version will need something much better than vanilla OHOL or target different group of players.
Given the limitations of this game engine i'm not sure what else people did expect from dogs. Sure, dogs ware broken like most of updates but that got fixed.
Dogs are for fun only, just like in real life most dogs are absolute waste of resources. However some sources claim they can lower your stress levels and blood pressure, so that is a plus.
I also made pit-bull farm yesterday and didn't see any casualties in family tree from dog attack.
Car sounds can be found in game folder sounds/ 1937.aiff and 1938.aiff you need to edit them with some sound editing software and delete cache.fcz file from same directory for the change to take effect.
Another option is to change all moving car animation files using game editor or notepad, but it is much more complicated.
You can make walls out of doors and move them around in truck.

I'm not an expert either. I just used some online translator.

I think this is a good addition to game that could be a permanent feature in some form. This game lacks some sort of external threat to families.
Chasing a griefer from your own family is not fun, war is impractical and animal AI is close to none.
I'm sorry to say that but any combat in this game will just fail.
Viewing distance is too small (5x9 tiles) .
No hit points.
No support for projectiles like in shooting games.
It would be just easier to start game development from zero.

What caught my eye was an old art style(by Tom) in some interview with Jason about the game. Multiplayer survival in unlimited world with total strangers and permadeath that was something i never seen before. I had to get Paypal account and wait few days before i could play it. At first nobody had idea how to survive aside from eating berries. There was no guides like onetech so you had to rely on what people showed you in game or forums. Discovering the game with others and shearing your experiences in community was the another fun aspect of the game.
maybe vehicles can work like property gates, idk?

Was it video games that did that or they just became the venue where people channel their energy after it was blocked in other places ?
I don't think this whole 3D printing houses thing will ever catch on. So much high tech to make dirt houses for bug men.
I saw one made of concrete up close and was not impressed.
Now if you could grow something like giant gourd or mollusk that dries up leaving hollow shell behind.
