Minus a few hiccups at the start (being able to kill as horseman and being able to get multiple clues off the same person) it was a pretty cool little event and was nice seeing the community come together to put all the clues together.
The only real complaint I could have is that after the first night I wasn't really able to join in as any of the time I played I couldn't get horseman but that's not Jason's fault at all.
Overall, even without the little prize at the end it was a really well done little event. I recommend you stop being an old stick in the mud and let some folks have some fun.
Can we keep the screeching elsewhere?
Current system is supposed to solve issues by having a """good""" player decide to remove issues. The game assumes someone who can afk by a fire is able to play the game and deal with people are being disruptive.
Old system I would just deal with trolls and problems whenever they showed up in town. Now I just suicide as unless I've lived a 20 minute life recently, not had someone follow my leader, and prayed to Jebus I can't deal with the situation.
A strong curse system + old system would be a much better solution in my opinion as well. PVP died for the sins of the sword and Jason's lack of giving us ever a reason to ever have conflict with other families which is a huge design flaw of the game. Racial restrictions are honestly the inverse of how restrictions should play out as they encourage needing all four families or lower game population which is counterintuitive. If I ever see the game population around 30~ I know it's better to not play to make the game more playable for others which is frankly dumb as shit.
Node types should be family locked like well springs which either forces you to be charitable or forces you to need to claim the resource via force from other towns. Of course, this doesn't solve everyone playing cooperatively but at least gives value towards conflict with others.
Basically Jason figured a butter knife weapon existing was better than having a skill based combat. He decided a big he had two fix twice (both on his vacation time) was prime content and refused to budge on nerfing the sword until being shown video proof of why the sword was an absolute menace to the game.
His conclusion was that being able to click people was the problem and not zero cool down weapons (which were phased out in earlier patches) instead of the sword. 60 second cooldown weapons were fine. Sure it was annoying when noobs attacked you without thinking but damn would I rather be able to remove a problem instead of praying to god or the afk guy on the fire to fix things.
If they’re spawning 20k out it sounds like the game is recognizing the need for an Eve but spawning donkey Eves. This is something that can occur when the player count is low and people are blocked to areas but don’t have a high enough meme score to be deemed for a regular eve spawn.
Games been fubar like this ever since the last eve change which didn’t fix this same issue
Probably the reason you don’t see it is due to the annoyance of oil. To use a sprinkler you need someone to give you kerosene and to get that you’re required to have both people willing to do the rigging process while also delivering it.
It just falls into a niche or too much actual work for new players to actively do it (they cannot fetch or produce the required kerosene) and the willingness of veteran players to do menial labor (random farming).
Not to mention the ease of screwing up the set up by walking over with a hammer to undo the sprinkler system. Unless you plan on encasing the entire farm (which will both add annoyance and look bad) it’s just not worth the hassle.
You’re welcome of course to prove me wrong and farm with a sprinkler system but in the end it helps neither new players who enjoy farming and on the other hand the hoops you jump over as a veteran player doesn’t make it truly worth the investment.
You’ll save water for sure, but only you and a select few other players on the server can use it too. However, if you just dump the kerosene into an engine and then a cistern the barrier to entry is basically just having played a single life if not less.
And of course this goes for the plow too. As fun as it is to minmax it will never truly be meta until the game is basically completely devoid of new players.
Unless I can role play being a stillborn I don’t wanna play. Sids just isn’t hardcore enough for me.
You can look at onetech to see the information. A shallow well averages 134 bowls of water and a deep well on average is 33 buckets or 330 water. Your best bet is to just get someone on phex chat to go halfsies on rubber production one life and just not worry about water until the newcommen goes dry.
Next update is when your ban expires. Good luck.
Just bin it. If Jason can’t get things to work right it shouldn’t be in the game. Eves still don’t spawn properly after the last fix.
Game shouldn’t have mechanics that break constantly when he’s unable to work on the game.
Have everything start out as the basic node so everyone (at least at reset) as a chance to claim it then have the first person to jump whatever hoop to upgrade the node gets ownership. Have the upgraded resource tap out a rather large area just how iron veins/oil/wells works.
So lets say for iron as an example: Map starts with undiscovered mine - This would give copper and maybe other materials. Every family can collect resources from this type of mine but the tools made from it are much lower durability. First family to collect X amount of bronze to cause it to transition would then tap out all the undiscovered mine nodes into copper veins. Maybe ownership can be passed by having other families interact with the upgraded node in a sort of king of the hill type style? This like you've stated gives a reason to have fences around the area instead of letting just anyone come over. Or maybe people decide to trade specializations around which could be interesting as well.
To combat people being too far to trade the inferior versions of biome specialization items should either be harsher time gated which means you're going further and further to collect sulfur/latex or maybe it has a fail chance. Lesser variants of sulfur pits would refill sulfur at a much slower rate, rubber trees both take longer to grow and have a chance to die as your family isn't specialized in growing them. Basically, everyone can do everything but some people are either more talented in said area or blessed with better resources.
Also, talking distance put horses in every biome instead of just the desert. Expecting people to try to trade without ability to either safely travel or travel in a timely fashion is not helping anyone. Overall, I really think transportation in the game needs looked at and shouldn't have such crazy jumps in utility. Introduce a higher tier easy to produce object for general movement - I'm thinking something like a bicycle for players to use for basic movement and travel. Slap the bad boy with 200% movement speed and up the speed for horses to like 300%. Revisit the plane and give it the delivery truck/race car treatment. Instead of wasting the fuel on landing have it continued to be fueled unless you explicitly waste the gas driving around. Having a quick way to move from town to town for quick trades would be nice. It just seems like the plane never truly got its time to shine besides for breaking mechanics.
In a system where there's a potential for one family to have multiple nodes, this gives a reason for families to spread out vs one mega city. Imagine needing X amount of players in an area to "defend" a family node. A long lasting family will have one normal town + multiple satellite villages which work to claim other resources which allows pseudo eves a real purpose (which is something Jason removed). This would allow us to return to new towns with old families which was removed with Iron only spawning to the main Eve or first person to make a well.
I think this sort of play enables all the sorts of players whether we agree with them or not. People who want to "troll" are enabled by giving them valid targets (small villages or attempts to claim under populated villages). People who want to explore are enabled to look for unclaimed areas or are incentivized to look for low population villages. Socializers have the incentive to try to barter with others, and everyone else can either work towards their own village growing, or growing the server cities.
Basically, working to give a reason to pvp, a reason to work together, and a reason to play.
I think it would be better to encourage player v player conflict instead of random broken NPC causing issues.
What if we just did the inverse of what we currently have? What if instead of families being stuck to a certain biome you had families claim biomes? Give each family access to the materials but families who don't own the biome get inferior items?
Your family claims the badlands so you get iron from your iron veins. Anyone else visiting a badlands gets copper and is stuck with lower quality tools and thus are either encouraged to try to trade their resource for your better resource OR maybe instead of doing it peaceful attempt to kill off your lineage in a way to lay claim to the badlands themselves. This at least makes sense on why you would ever kill a family as a similar thing would occur with bell towns + war swords. Bell gets rang > raider raze the town of its people > raiders claim town (not that it was viable due to area blocking.)
The issue I see with this though is that when a new Eve would spawn the potential to be locked out of everything being stuck with the crappy alternatives either has to ask for handouts or form a tribe of savages to take over a small city which might at least make for interesting stories. Also, too much content work to basically double the items to insert copper tools and inferior versions of oil, rubber, etc.
Don't even get me started on ice cream.
Does Jason just hate fun? Serious question.
Yes, Jason hates fun. You may only enjoy things from his point of play and if it's not fun then you're playing the game wrong.
I think race restrictions could be okay IF the systems in place actually worked but they don’t. Last week when I tried to play we were still stuck with the three race issue (no gingers) and any ginger eve was just a donkey. I guess the blocked players had too low of a meme score to trigger an eve spawn so instead of getting a ginger Eve like needed we had three donkey town ginger Eves…
The goal with raising the cap was to attempt to counteract the lack of four like this but due to the population hovering around 30 as Destiny described we hit weird points where playing is screwing with everyone else. When I was on around 32 pop last week I just killed myself. Better to not play to make the game more playable which doesn’t make sense IMO.
I think restrictions should just be disabled based on mechanics not working properly.
Was this in bad taste? Definitely
Should it have been said? Definitely not.
Definitely wasn't wise to actually victimize the person who has been stirring crap for the last five days.
You know what you did, multiple mods shared the same viewpoint as myself and you earned your ban.
You can whine to the forums, you can whine to Jason, but until Jason gives you a thumbs up you're banned for your behavior.
OP is banned for repeating being asked not to use slurs in general.
Baiting arguments since they joined the discord 5 days ago
Uploading random files then being asked not to (followed by posting a picture to bait another TO)
Being disruptive to the community
And overall not being a friendly or welcoming person.
OP cannot act like a civil person in the discord and hence was banned.
Yes, those dang mods are just mean.
Just to confirm for everyone BS2 is currently being DDoS’d and Jason is currently unable to take action until tomorrow. Jason will be taking on the issue fully tomorrow when able to.
As of around 3:25 am EST the servers have been having issues where the server will fill itself (not with real players sadly) and proceed to spaz out for a bit before returning to normal. As of writing it's been doing this for about half an hour and may or may not be fixed by the time of typing this up. Just wanted to inform people it has been noted and Jason has been emailed about the weird server issues currently going on.
No no no, clearly no one understands farts and art and cannot appreciate all the flaws. Play the game no matter how bad1111!1
Game is currently dead due to content drought not because of cursing.
It's very clear that everyone in the thread is passionate about the game and it's just as clear that people are unsatisfied with different aspects of the game.
Hopefully when Jason returns to content we'll get some of these issues solved.
Gentlemen gentlemen, lets remember to be nice here. Spoon is being spoon and should just be ignored instead of engaged with.
It stays with you until you either eat another shroom or restart the client. It's a feature not a bug.
