There were studies done on this before, what I recall was the conclusion was walking from 3yo you can run about 8k in a life, on a horse from as early as possible you can get 13-15k.
Oh wow, how did you make that?
Get wire, foil, bake clay, a few tools, a few hours, mix thoroughly (Scuplt) and bake in the oven for ten minutes at 275f.
Then add frosting (paint).
Optional: add garnishing, like clothing.
My vote for OHOL's best girl, short haired blonde!
Don't mind the.. askew eyes, it adds.. to the multi-directional viewage.
Its normal, if you play alot.
You may or may not know that the game records every life you play into a txt file. (which can be played back if you paste it into your "playbackGame" folder (and its the same version) )
Each full life takes around 50-100 mb to record (I believe the higher end is when you're in a big civ with lots of stuff around) and that can add up quickly.
(Zoom mods may affect recording size, this is only an assumption.)
1. Gotta explore, trying to baby me while I'm a baby isn't exactly the most optimal use of my first three useless but bipedal minutes.
2. No one else is getting it, why shouldn't I have it then?
3. Its a pain, and takes a lot of time, to have to explain things some times. Its also a decent trust exercise to never speak the entirety of your life but work hard for your civ.
4. Occasionally people treat you with major suspicion if you're asking for a weapon, on those occasions its good to have your own weapon to deal justice when the paranoid are unable.
5. Some times a person takes it into their own hands to prevent others from making weapons due to previous bad experiences.
There are also times where weapons just need to stop being produced, during the latter times if its a male with the file they should be asked to give it to a female.
6 . If they say hunter, check nearby grey biome/swamp/desert depeding on what weapon, if dead hostile animals leave them be, if not treat with suspicion.
7. Or maybe they're just.. making paper so people can write their thoughts..?
This list looks more like "Experienced player red flags", of course experienced players can be incredible dangerous too.
I feel like I have many attack-able points on myself, oh well. Maybe I'm blind and these are actual red flags.
Before I only go against you, I'll add my own red flag.
Asking for clothes off peoples backs, in particular packs. I find these to be lazy players who if not ingratiated will start horrendous acts.
Perhaps an item that can contain x amount of key words?
I honestly don't know how any of the technical stuff works but an item that can contain key words that show above your chat bar/in place of your chat bar is an idea.
So let's say you implement writing utensils and paper and my idea is when you hold the writing gear you have to click on an object to write it's name into the paper, you can't actually type into it, but you can write the objects into it.
Say Parchment and inked quill + maple tree = Custom parchment (maple tree)
Custom parchment and inked quill + Eve Worth = Custom parchment (maple tree Eve Worth)
So on and so forth until the word limit is reached on the parchment.
(If this comes to pass perhaps allow directional key words to be injected somehow.)
This is just my thought on a way it could work, unfortunately I cannot help with any technical hurdles you guys are all discussing.
The only positive time I've ever used it for was a old lady was doing some noob purging and had stabbed a guy trying to kill her, I swapped my pack for hers to take her needle and thread that I didn't have to sew up the guy she stabbed.
Any other case I've seen is griefers taking old people's stuff.
So tip, as you might already know, when your character model is old, find someone to pass your stuff down to immediately, I just go to the nearest farm and give it to any person who looks like they're working hard. Anyone who works hard is 90% not a griefer, anyone who is not working is 65% likely to be a noob, 30% griefer, and 5% a vacationing good player, but in order to tell if they're not working you have to keep an eye on them a while.
You guys are raggin' on my friend fur shoe* when ol' mister worm actually has no use at the moment.
But for my worst item I'm pretty sure everyone, and I mean everyone, can agree that REDACTED** is the most terrible investment/item in the game.
(*of which I make, because I don't waste four berry carrot bowls for dang shoes, rather 2/6 of one and a single rabbit)
(**I actually don't want to say it because we all know griefers are going to come here and start doing everything here..
but heres a hint for the people who do know how to make it, five rope. (If you know, please don't mention it) )
Spectator mode is actually easy for me to implement. However, I hesitate to do that because it would destroy some of the mystery. The "I wonder where they are now" feeling is very important to me.
Perhaps not spectating player per say, lets honor our fallen heros by letting them watch us from the grave!
If you want to spectate you have to have had a marked grave and a ghostly visage of your player model at death flickers above the grave to show people they're being watched.
if someone puts a flower on your grave you can speak for x minutes, and if people don't feel comfortable with a ghost watching them they can just pour salt on the grave to block you
When there is any item below the stump when chopping a domestic goose's head off the goose will delete the stump for room to walk even if there is room all around (domestic goose always step down one tile before running around.) , much like a baby goose deleting the poop it spawned on if it is a completely filled area.
Broken idea here, maybe we can attack cursed players with things not normally a weapon?
Cursed player takes all knives? too bad, hit in the back with an adze.
Cursed baby and elder doesn't want to knife it? smash it with a straight branch.
It'll definitely moderate cursed players actions when they can only kill with a few items but everyone else can kill them with anything if they slip up in the slightest.
As morbid as it sounds I like the idea of having to stab someone multiple times to kill them, maybe it can work by chance wherein you only get killer debuff when you actually get them to the point where they only have 40 seconds to live but you have to slash them multiple times (slashes only occur if player is running) unless they're standing still and you stab them in the chest/back. I't make choosing the be a murderer a whole lot more gruesome and less appealing.
Along that line we could have chance bow attacks too where a player could be instantly killed if shot in the head by an arrow (if the person aims directly for the head with cursor).
I think we'll never see my particular suggestion, but who knows maybe jason will add something spooky for halloween.
how you call who does 17 of this? xD
A good player is what they're called,
Also can be known as veteran.
how long did this take you to make?
covers a lot but too long to follow while in-game
This took about two hours if I recall correctly, I was planning on writing on how to do the jobs but I got tired of writing.
However after seeing how long this came out to be it would have likely doubled it in length.
This list is to learn what jobs are out there pre-game and to help decide what you want to do once you get in.
Saw a village being attacked with multiple of the items on this list.
Shot the the griefer after a long chase, but ended up with an arrow in my chest from a girl thinking she was doing justice.
I am almost certain the griefer was this guy, he was griefing so efficiently its like he does this thing every life he lives, probably maxed out on curses too.
I checked later to see he never talked, he probably only survived to childhood because the civ was having a baby boom.

It's a lot simpler to not do this, but to add an annoying layer of realism to OHOL a system could be put in place wherein
if a person does not have the stomach size that is equal or greater to their food's nutrition they either
1. cannot eat it (bad idea) or 2. eat is slowly (maybe four to six times longer than current eating).
I bring this up for no particular reason.
Just food for thought.. if you can stomach it. (sorry)
Ifeanyichukwu, that would be my doing.
I was born to the Goda line, I forgot who I was but I was female.
It was terrible. There were so many people in the village all crowded around the berry farm talking while a few hard workers made compost and hauled water from afar.
That changed when the killings happened.
The first few were plain murder, but then the revenge killing started, kill after kill, the bodies piling up. Not a single bandage because of a griefer tossing them all. Around six adults died in bloodshed and the rest of the village had to just stand in awe of how much killing happened in mere moments. But after the killings the village population evened out and the civ was in relative balance.
Near the end of my life I would name a newborn Ifeanyichukwu. It you've ever seen me I often give my children oluwa or chukwu names. These long names are fun, but as it turned out they are also very dangerous.
After a momentary break I logged back in to be born in a shuart.
As the who ended up somehow getting Ifeanyichukwu, Prince Goda II.
In the beginning as a child Ifeanyi lead bears to the civ, killing my mother and many of the adults as they tried hunting them. The village only had two arrows for the two bows, but I scrapped together another arrow and killed off the near by bears.
Ifeanyi kept killing the adults and soon all that was left were some working adults and something like ten children, only a handful able to hold knives. The children huddled together, eating the last gift from the previous generation that was fruitful bushes. Then one of the girls suggested we kill Ifeanyi. Telling her we would need to group together we went off in search and I had to follow to make sure she didn't die.
Soon enough we would hear another death scream and we then went to the sheep pen to see another dying, Ifeanyi was there. And I had a knife.
Recalling wise words from an elder months ago on how to kill people with a knife of which were "Spam all the buttons on them." I drew my blade and did just that.
As I was spamming my knife turned bloody, I heard a death scream, but I had just been spamming where Ifeanyi and my uncle were standing, both looked unharmed as I saw Ifeanyi run away north. (Yes, she ran as if she didn't get stabbed)
I was confused but after my uncle didn't die and them telling me I had slain the chukwu I felt at ease, and after checking the family tree she was indeed murdered.
I attempted to curse her, however forgetting she had a last name I, and all others failed to curse her.
Things were peaceful after that.
Sorry about the impossible names.
Don't make fur clothing. Use fur for backpacks and make shoes, hats, and sweaters out of wool instead.
Have to call you out on that.
Wool clothing is super expensive. SUPER EXPENSIVE. (So many berries and carrots, main gripe.)
On the tech tree it shows that fur clothing is a few percent better for each piece than wool, which is why I'm saying this at all. (accompanied with the below points)
Rabbits are often incredibly plentiful and a good hunter with good (and a lot of) grounds can bring multiple cart fulls of rabbits back home in a life time.
I 100% agree to not make clothing during eve stages and only backpacks but once a civ has wool thread people should be getting their clothing, fur clothing.
I myself focus on using wool for bandages and thread, because it always feels bad when a civ has sheep but no medical supplies because people are making
wool clothing whenever they possibly can, and then someone leads a bear into town mauling half the population and you have to watch them all die.
one of the times that civs should be turning on wool production for clothing is when an end game+ civ has way too many resources and HAS to find a way to use it up or else people will start killing each other for fun because there's nothing to do.
But how on earth do you get that yum bonus? Can you cycle through the same food after a while?
Having a hungry stomach and eating small foods, like if you're starving as an adult, then you eat a popcorn, berry, bowl of berry, a baked potato, and the other half of the baked potato. if you had like 10 YUM before that would be 60 extra food in your tummy. pretty op if you don't mind wasting food on large stuff early in life.
While I do like going full try hard YUM sometimes and getting 20 by the end of life isn't so tough I'd like to give some counter arguments, they aren't much but something to consider.
1. Preparation: It can take a lot of time to prepare some foods before hand to eat for yourself, and if you don't have a backpack things you were planning to eat for yourself they're going to be eaten by some non-yummer before you can get to it.
2. Time: Sometimes being focused on making sure what you need to eat next and gathering it, like finding wild onion or burdock far from an advanced civ, can use up time you could have used attempting to better a civ.
3. Too much food!: There are some civs with way too much food!(Like advanced civs where everything has been done) wherein using YUM has potential to hurt the civ rather than help it! (like unprocessed food everywhere taking up space, sometimes you have to be the one to eat it all up)
Lastly, I'm sure you know and that the list you gave was for early civs (which can't really spare the time to specifically eat all that food because they're too busy running around doing work) but considering you have stew there thats around steel tool time, you may want to put potatoes up there! they're great YUM snacks. (basically free +2 multiplier, which again I'm sure you already know.)
Man, and we were just getting used to mass producing tools so the civilization can keep afloat, leaning away from using baskets entirely, and telling our kids to read the wiki so we didn't have to teach them.
Now we have much tougher tools? Baskets last twice as long? And signs so we can finally pay respects to the fallen who made a notable mark on the civilization?
What is this? Where are the negatives that Jason has conditioned us to expect and conquer?
Oh.
People can grief to no end by planting saplings on dirt. And they don't even grow into trees.
I mean, wheat, milkweed, and berries are acceptable to just randomly plant. but so many resources for a SINGLE skewer?
(maybe can plant multiple saplings on single plot, or domesticated saplings grow back.).. eh. maybe saplings should rarely grow near trees every few hours.
Not sure if it was purely my own client, or that life, but after shooting a goose with an arrow I was unable to remove the arrow from the goose, I attempted this twice and twice the bug happened.
The fact that the game originally had things lasting forever was essentially a bug. You got used to it, and grew to like it. But it never was the long-term intent.
We did like it, a nicely organized civilization is a happy one.
But when you took away our long term compact storage by making baskets degrade without giving us a more permanent form of compact storage you also took our happiness. And our obviously misplaced hope that we, and our future generations, could enjoy things forever was tripped without a cushion to land on.
The player base fell hard, and we are going to whine until our boo boo feels better.
We ramping up to full Terrafirmacraft now, bois
