Today I got one little girl. I called her Snow. My older daughter Aaban, Snow and me were a happy family. I went to the clothes and gave snow the best clothes I could find.
Snow started then to run away from me, after I gave her the best clothes. I run after her, because I wanted to rebuild this city and we needed more girls and the nice clothes. On my way I found a bow and arrow on the ground. To save the clothes and end it quick I grabbed it and run after her.
She died on starvation. A few seconds later a new baby was born. I put all the clothes on the baby and it said "lol same mum" and run again away. The next baby was a boy. I shouted at him "Is it you again?" He didnt replied. I gave him the clothes and headded back to the town. Then again a new baby spawned and said "lol same mum" and run. I grabbed the bow again and run after her. I reached and shoot her this time. She died with my arrow in her. My son logged out and also died.
Again I was alone, still in the wilderness. Probatly twenty years later after I run after my girl I reached the city again. I saw my daughter she did great. I told her the wild story and she got a baby. I was getting old, probatly it was my last baby. When it spawned it said "lol same mum" and run around.
I got angry told my daughter that we need to kill it. I then put it in the sheep pen, but couldnt hold it in the pen, because it run around so much. It run around and trolled me. I told my daughter again that we need to kill that monster, but she didnt wanted to. I thought about the bow in the wild and run as fast as I could to get that bow again. I saw my daughter caring about that troll and I just shoot the troll baby so it wont destroy the city. After all that fcked running I was just thinking the baddest things it could do when it was grown. My daughter went crazy and I told her that I needed to do it. I put the bow and arrow on the ground and wanted to start working. Clean the city, do the things that I wanted to do thirty years ago. But at the same moment I saw my daughter grab the bow and she hunted me. My last words were "Why me?" then the arrow hit me and I died only running after my baby and running away from my other baby.
Thats how loyal my babys are!!!
That is why my motto is "Dumb babies die and smart babies live"
Basically if my baby does something dumb like run around, I don't waste time on it, even things are good. But if I abondoned a baby and it is smart enough to keep up with me, then I will try to help it then.
Dumb babies will make for dumb adults.
You sound like griefers. I will know to kill you on sight.
Good bye Sylvestor Family.
They had a small farm east of large town. I was their last female and had only 3 sons. My last son was apparently the Eve of the Sylvestors 5 hours ago. We started a shrine to honor the family.
I went back to see if my son finished it with my next life. Sure enough he had finished the shrine. He stocked it with the bones of the Sylvestors and grave goods. The Sylvestors may be gone but our family knew how to honor our dead.
I started a discussion on this a few days ago:

My suggestion was to tie the baby cool down timer to the proximity of adult men. Not only would this solve the problem, but it would also improve immersion make it easier for women and Eve characters to forage in the wilderness.
But this a real problem. I had three boys starved to death/murdered, and in one town my mom had to sneak around and find some pants and a hat to hide my sex. I also saw it in a few Let's Plays.
I think the culture may have just shifted in the last few days though. I have not encountered boy killers since I wrote my original post.
Currently I really feel like this game hates and shames males/boys. This needs to change for the better.
a multiplayer survival game of parenting
and civilization building by Jason Rohrerparenting not female parent ...please add some way for men to be part of this process and hence respected members of the civilization. Maybe make men better at killing bears and wolves? there is a tendency in game to starve and kill baby boys, this is actually the opposite of how things are done in ancient civilizations. The boys were the most valued not least, how about let men take a wife, add marriage ...then there is a Father. The children of this union will be part of the male line.
If a civilization is down to only men, then can strike out and find an eve or a girl from another village (this was quite common in tribes that had no girls) marry her and carry on the family name. Please reconsider this hatred for males and male parentage. Make this a true family game and add marriage, make men great again.
I think you may be projecting a little there. I don't think it is personal, just gamers being gamers. Most of those people starving boy babies are probably men in real life. In their mind having the largest town and the longest line of descendants is "winning", so they do it.
There are two reasons why a village dies
1: No females
2: nubs screw up farmingOnly keeping female kids fixes number 1, and I have been in multiple villages that have lasted 10 generations because of it, overpopulation isn't a problem if people expand the farms and keep a baker in every generation. and have a good baby policy "One girl if food supply is decreasing, two if there is loads of food". Having a good nanny to teach the basic rules and giving out jobs is a must in large cities.
Also, I would like to add, Why do people not make carrot pies when they are out of meat, its another thing I see people do, the hunter dies and meat stops coming then the pies stop coming. Carrots pies are better then no pies and wheat is fairly cheap and are better than carrots. My pet hate is when I see people eating carrots when there is a cart full of pies right next to them.
But again to actually contribute to this thread, I am never a fan asking for features to be taken or nerfed. And hope this does not become normal or standard practice.
And that is the problem Rebel. And that is why this is NOT a NERF Cyniko. Gamers are gaming the system to be efficient and eliminating some of the game play in the process. If the policy is going to be "murder boys" among the players, why even bother to have it as option.
Ditto on what Dagar said. You were not role-playing a raider, you were role-playing a griefers.
Also don't have to kill people to take their stuff. One time I wanted to found a new village and I easily snuck in and ran off with stuff for my new village. A large town is so busy and rich that it won't notice cartloads of stuff vanishing.
Just a thought, was kind of bummed to see such a good village go down to a griefer that we raided previously.
Solid Role-plays up until that point.
I personally love that she did that. We have enough of a problem with real griefers. If murder became mainstream, then nothing would get done.
I have no clue why people kill boys.
I do. I have seen or played several games where a village was nothing but men and the village either dies out there or a lucky eve finds her way there.
I still remember the game where I was an Eve and stumbled on an advanced village of only 3 men. They let me and my kids inherit their town, but they wouldn't talk to me. It was creepy and in retrospect could tell that they were angry that their line had died out, but they also didn't want their work to go to waste.
I also remember the village where I was the last male. I was pretty depressing. I ended up just practicing my skills until I died.
Villages last longer with the whole "casters keep" take the boys out to the woods and only keep girls meta. plus its hard to keep family jobs running with boys, for example, you have a child boy and tell him to hunt he cant have kids to take over him once gone and no one ever knows if that person is dead or not, just one day the rabbit meat stops coming and then you have to reallocate someone. I think boys just need to have a good attribute that we need them for, able to do hard labor jobs (sexist I know) like lumberjacking or blacksmithing, if you really want to make the game impossible, add some sort of breeding mechanic but I personally don't like that idea the game is already hard enough to keep villages alive. At the end of the day, girls reproduce, boys don't you need kids to keep the village alive and boys don't give you that resource. if you had a choice between a carrot plot that kept growing carrots and one that died out
which one would you choose?
That is why tying the cool down period to presence of men would make men a lot more useful. The village that keeps men around may have fewer women, but those women would have more opportunities for a player to spawn from them.
This sounds like a life lesson.
I do think gender should be decided based on the business of the server
I think that would exacerbate the problem. That is because every mother goes through a cool down period after birth so that a player is no be inflicted with multiple babies at once. When the player reincarnates a minute later they will go to another village and that rule will force them to be a boy. The end result is that the villages and eves that allow boys, will overflow with them. Mean while the ones that only allow girls will be more likely to get that rare freed up a female because they have a much higher portion of potential mothers for the female to spawn to.
I think tying the cool down to number of males with X squares of a woman. Additionally if this can be coded, then it would be easy to piggy off that code and have the paternal portion of the family tree.
I am increasingly seeing towns adopt the policy of killing baby boys. I understand the logic of killing boys. It basically forces the game to eventually make a player spawn as a girl and girls ensure a steady supply of new players to your beloved town.
But I have a problem with this mind set.
One is men are better equipped to handle long journey work. We have all been there. We are out away from town and that baby pops. Your time sensitive work now has to deal with a naked baby. I usually lose most of them to either negligence or them suciding because they think they are poor.
Two, it kind of hurts the immersion.
Three, some games I want to be something other than a farmer or nurse. I find that when I am female always on farm or nursing duty because those babies are super fragile
So to the game designer I would like to offer a suggestion. Could you make the baby cool down period tied to proximity to adult males. This would solve the problem with boys, reduce the need for Eves, allow women to do non-farming work better, and improve the immersion.
And if he won't do something about this, could we come up with a compromise rule of thumb. Like only first boy gets to live. I think that would help keep a useful token amount of men, without crashing the town.
