Yes, the point of Donkey Town is a punishment. You're not there to have fun, you're there to be alone with your thoughts and suffer like you made others suffer. If you want to play on server 1, then don't get sent to Donkey Town in the first place.
Griefing is the reason I stopped playing as often. You say people want unpredictability because they're bored doing the same stuff over and over again, but murder is not the "drama" catalyst anyone wants. People get bored because the tech tree is microscopically small with the majority of items and animals serving very little purpose either due to them being too tedious to craft with little reward or purely for cosmetic purposes.
Today I wanted to play again and was born into a large developed town that had pretty much everything, cows, multiple farms, piles of iron, and a multicolored painted building. I decided to make that building into a library and had so much fun for fifteen minutes, making a sign with letters and was about to start making a ton of paper. But then someone was shot, I took the murderer's bow away as she ate and she went and fetched another one and shot me. My instructions weren't enough to guide my family with the medical supplies and I died. It was then I remembered why I stopped playing in the first place, my mood had completely soured from passionate to resentful as I stared at my death screen.
Griefers may never completely disappear and the murder rate may never be zero, but it's in your best interest to decrease it. People get upset when they get murdered, they don't view it as juicy drama that spices up their life, they view it as a frustrating event that usually ends up with a pile of bodies. Just because they survive doesn't mean the players enjoy having to go through the stressful situation of hunting down the griefer, fixing what they broke, and healing the wounded. It becomes even more disappointing when the griefer succeeds, escapes, or destroys a town in an unavoidable way. Killing isn't the only way that people grief and I cannot stress enough how much griefing isn't a cool drama mechanic, it's a frustrating fun killer.
Let's keep the vocabulary in threads at appropriate levels, please.
Farming mangoes have been changed now. It now takes a basket of soil and a bucket of water to make mango trees bear fruit. This means it gives 176 food in an hour at the cost of 10 water and 3 soil. For comparison, an efficiently farmed berry bush can produce 210 food at the cost of 6 soil and 6 water. I think the growth timer should at least be reduced for mango trees because waiting 60 minutes for a tree to bear fruit at the current cost is too much. Farming mango trees are now useless, if you want yellow paint, just pick the leaves and bring them home. There is no reason to farm mango trees anymore, even getting them for yum bonus isn't worth it.
Tl;dr Mangoes take too much time to grow and cost a lot of soil and water for little food
Yes you can place wood flooring on top of flat rock roads. Using an adze will give you boards and remove the original road.
It was just a bug with the sprites. It was fixed last night.
Yes there is something currently wrong with the update, hopefully Jason will read the issue reports and fix the issue in the code.

You cannot curse marked people
Your curse score has to reach 7 in order to be born into the regular servers again. If you are living for less than 10 minutes, then your curse score will not go down. You have to live a life longer than 10 minutes in order for the time to count. So if you live for 9 minutes, 0 minutes goes towards decreasing your score. If you live for 15 minutes, 15 minutes is decreased from your score.
You can join the discord and it'll tell you when updates roll out.
Wow I'm not Julian but seriously ur that mad cuz someone swapped clothes with you when u were a baby lol just make new ones or get new ones and kill that person lol it happened to me once my sister stole my crown so I ignored then killed her
Can't really ignore someone for doing something when u kill them for it lolol
Donkey town is a Pinocchio reference if I'm not mistaken.
Yes, Jason confirmed he had been watching the movie while making the update.
Please keep this thread on topic about the game or it will be closed.

Part of what Pein said suddenly made me realize: It literally doesn't matter whether you abandon or feed the boys. Your pregnancy timer has already been reset by having him. Killing them off doesn't make a baby girl come any faster, or increase the chances of a baby girl being born, or anything of the sort.. It literally does nothing, except throw out a player that'll probably be born to someone else.
If you have 4 sons, abandoning them doesn't change the fact that you had 4 sons. It doesn't suddenly raise your likelihood of popping out a girl next. Actually, chances are they jut hit rebirth before your cooldown timer got anywhere near finished to have another baby. Chances are they're not going to come back to you, girl or otherwise- you just pushed them onto the next family.
Instead of being an old lady with 4 sons, you'll be an old lady with no kids whatsoever. Its not that much of a difference I suppose- you're fucked either way. But abandoning those four boys wouldn't have made your chances of a girl any better.
So honestly your only argument is that they take up food- but a good player, boy OR girl, provides more food for the family than they take up. Chances are if you've got a decent son, he's bringing food back to camp so you can continue to pop out babies in hopes of a girl.
Population control is still an issue. I'm still not suggesting that we abandon all boys, and if you're not an Eve chances are you're surrounded by a ton of people. You still need to see how much food you currently have and know the ratio of male to females. Just because it doesn't raise the likelihood of having girls doesn't mean it doesn't benefit your family. Plus, there is no way to tell who is a good player and who is not. You can't just assume that every baby you keep will be a skillful, knowledgeable hard worker. I've seen plenty of people either complain or tell stories about being born to the same family over and over again, so the chances are still higher. You keeping a boy means a 0% chance they will be a girl, abandoning them gives them an extra chance to be born to your lineage as a girl. It's like the Monty Hall problem, taking the chance to switch is better than keeping the one you have.
Yeah, or, the boys come back as girls so you don't just end up with having 4 sons that feed you yet you become fertile and its just an old lady and 4 boys. Just because boys can work doesn't mean they will, and just because they can work without interruption doesn't mean that they automatically get a "you can live" pass. Use your heads, look at the current population and use your judgements. Don't just blindly defend boys, determine if keeping this baby boy is worth the food he eats and the time he wastes for his mom. If males greatly outweigh females, dump his baby booty and apologize. You don't have to act like he'll never be able to play again, he's just going to click "login" and play as someone else's kid, and who knows, maybe be reborn as your daughter.
The suffixes mean that someone else is also named that so you need to make sure you have the correct numerals otherwise you might be cursing an innocent person. And no one gets the suffix "I" their name just stays the same.
It took me two weeks to get a good hold on being able to craft everything when I first started playing, but that was in May, like 20 updates ago. The learning curve is just high and you have to get used to it. Instead of trying to learn everything at once, just pick one thing you want to learn until you know it and move on to the next thing.
The WASD keys are just a preference and I'm sure you could get someone to make a mod for that. You only stab people by right clicking, so use left click to move and you won't stab people. If you only had three children, families would die off not only more often but a lot earlier as well. If that was a thing I'd be surprised if lineages lasted 10 generations.
And that's what fire making is, bowdrill on shaft, put on tinder, put kindling on and boom, fire. If you have all the ingredients there is no reason making a fire should take you four minutes to do. Memorization and practice is a big component for crafting so the only thing I can tell you is to keep playing and you'll eventually get the hang of it. Anyone who is able to memorize the entire tech tree in two days is a god.
Jason wants to launch on steam because currently our player base is not growing. Many players play maybe a couple games a day or drop it for months at a time. We all know the first few weeks will be rough, but that's just what we're going to have to accept. The trolls will eventually get tired, and I hope that we will gain many new players and revitalize the culture of actually teaching players and learning to cooperate.
Signs are completely obsolete, even if you spent your whole life dedicated to making letters you still couldn't make more than one sign. Just write on paper and leave them to act as signs, they're quick to make, easy to move, replaceable, and hold more letters. There's no reason people should be making signs in the current meta.
Yeah I'm really over new players completely raging because they don't understand how the game climate works. Newsflash: you actually have to do stuff and not everything is solved with murdering those who teach you how to play correctly.
Like I said before, I don't think every boy should automatically be thrown away but having girls and keeping girls alive is more vital for early camps. If you have 4 sons and you have another boy, the best bet would be to abandon the baby and hope they come back as a girl. Having a balance would be good, its mostly just common sense and looking around to make sure you have enough girls so that keeping boys isn't an issue. My main frustration was with new players just keeping and raising every baby they had with no regards for population control.
That was only temporary, Donkey Town is now it's own unlisted server. If you collect 8 curses you are sent to Donkey Town, but any curses after that will also count. So if you have 8 curses you need to play for 1 hour before going back, but if you have 10 curses you need to play for 3 hours. Being sent back to normal servers, you will still have 7 curse points so 1 more curse sends you right back. It's called Donkey Town because it's residents are asses.
It takes four scrolls on my scroll wheel to reach the end. But if you don't think its spam, g'head and post more stuff like this and see what happens.
Let's not spam please. This is a fun thing but no need to be extra.
