Are there any tips for killing bears? When I right click on a bear while holding an arrow, I just walk toward the bear and get killed. I don't understand. I've killed several bears in the past.
Yeah, putting a seed plot or a few away from the main farm has been the best method. People always end up eating the seed crop.
Or focus your farming efforts on gooseberries and you'll never need a seed plot again!
So you just eat berries?
I've been a solitary nomad a few times. When I had a baby, I stopped at any little settlement Found, raised them until they could take care of themselves, and then move on, leaving them behind.
That was before last names were added to the game. Might be a good way to spread the family tree around. Although it can also be difficult and requires a bit of luck.
Rather than wander randomly, it's better to go around a known path.

yeah thats a pretty good one too but most of the cities i encounter now dont have doors tho.
People are gonna have to start thinking of their villages as castles and fortresses.
What if there was a job list board in villages showing which jobs are needed, with, say, a mark next to the job for each person doing the thing. New people could pick a job, and when they die or leave, the mark on the job board disappears.

This is not only less violent but more effective. A human player who is killed as a baby in one village is quite likely to just be re-born nearby or in the same village a few minutes later. If you have a few members of the family migrate together to another nearby village, you help protect the family line and you divide the population of IRL players across a broader region with a greater carrying capacity.
This sounds like a good strategy for me, personally. I don't want to let my kids starve, and I also get overwhelmed living in quickly growing villages. In those situations I can leave and have my kids elsewhere. Of course, then my kids might end up starving to death in the wilderness, anyway. Oh well.
These are good points. I will try harder to raise all children. I have sometimes worried about overpopulation and running out of food, but I suppose bringing in more help is generally a good idea.
(I also tend to get overwhelmed in a highly populated town, but that's just my own personal problem to deal with).
And beer? That was a pretty early human invention. Not really the same as arts and carpentry, but it is often recreational.
I'd be happy if it was just made easier to stop and/or catch someone who is causing destruction of life and property. As it is, the people chasing someone down are more likely to kill each other than the perpetrator.
I've died by rattle snake twice now. Why do I keep walking right into them?
I usually try to tidy up a messy village.
I was born a male in a village my name was greg
I hated my mom so i bullied her and all my brothers and sisters. then i wanted to kill mom i shot her. Mwhahaha.
But wait i looked and then i saw my real mom i killed some random girl. then they all hated me. i was chased with bow and Arrow i survived of berry bushes. then i went back to village to see that my brother accidentilay shot another brother so i get the Arrow. and ran away to hide it. they made a new Arrow and chased me. i was chased for 52 years then one of my brothers shot one of the brother chasing me then he ran away to die of starvation. and mom died of a bear.
so i was still alive to help farm. then some random bitch picked up a bow to chase me in my final years i stole a cart of carrots and hide. i died of old age. eating carrots in a bush in my final years.
fuck u mom and fuck u 2 brothers who killed each other. i survived longer then u all mwhahaha
xxx greg
Hi Greg. I was your mother. I gave you much love, even when I saw that you were evil. I am so sorry you grew up to cause chaos in our village. It was a lovely place. I don't know why you are this way. I can only hope you learn and grow out of it some day. I thought you would probably kill me eventually. But I ended up being killed by a bear instead. Oh well.
~much love and sadness,
your nameless mother
Have the worlds been reset? Or are we all just spawning far away from the old stuff?
Really cool update, by the way.
Jeez, don't kill your kid because of their name.
I rather like how the game picks something itself. I'm not so good a thinking of names or spelling, so I can just say something and the kid will get a real name regardless.
oh my god it is so hard to kill someone who is running around. I tried killing a griefer with a knife and a bow, but kept dropping my own weapon or stopping at other objects. I accidentally killed the other person hunting them down (i'm so sorry about that), and the person just kept being reborn anyway. I'm sure they were loving the chaos and destruction they were causing.
I don't mind murder being a thing in the game, but holy hell trying to stop them is so frustrating right now.
I'm also going to chime in and say this is a great addition to the game. I could never remember my kids names names or tell them apart before.
Hm. I was kidnapped once. He said "my baby" and ran away with me until I starved. I don't remember if I was a boy or a girl. Might have just been someone stealing babies for the fun of it.
I spawned as an Eve in a bear-infested area. I killed four bears in one lifetime. Unfortunately, none of my children survived to adulthood . At least two were killed by a bear. Most of my life was spent alone, making a starter village.
I see this as a fascinating problem. I'm hopeful that solutions will be implemented in the (near) future.
I also second all of Shallotte's suggestions.
Some sort of Karma system would be cool. If you're a murderer in one life, you should be penalized for it in some way in your next life.
My small village family was all murdered except for me. In my next life I was born in a big city, just as I became old enough to take care of myself, everyone was murdered again, including me (I suspect it was the same person).
It was sad, but at the same time still feels like part of life. Sometimes there are murderers. But yeah, they probably have too much power and ability to screw everything up.
But I think it isn't completely hopeless. There just needs to be implemented in the game some way to deal with these situations. Better defense and security, perhaps. Better ways to defend yourself maybe?
To my daughter, who was a wonderful mother to my grandkids.
I'm so sorry I accidentally killed you with the knife I was trying to give you to keep safe. I felt terrible about it and let myself starve to death after that. I just couldn't go on.
