Ah... I used to be on a forum where each story was supposed to be a new thread, so that was what I was used to. This made it so replies and comments were about that particular story. Stories that did not stand alone were to be kept in the same thread though, with comments disabled. I didn't mean to spam, just followed a different etiquette. Another rule was to never post more than three a week when doing this - so there won't be more for a while. Sorry for the trouble.
DiscardedSlinky wrote:I also enjoy not having to go between 3 links to read a story. Could've been 3 seperate comments
I can always edit and add links to the other chapters if that would help?
Fug isn't a forum moderator. I don't see how you violated any rule, and I thought your story in three posts was fine.
Smokey the Bear isn't an officer. Doesn't mean he should stop asking people from catching his home on fire.

The author here gets to choose their writing style as you get to choose your writing style fug.
Some people do appreciate shorter posts, as they have commented before.
Someone with terrible forum etiquette encourages terrible etiquette. Who would have thought?

I've played the game a lot, and I've never been in any trouble and I've made plenty of mistakes. I think if you're actively purposely throwing games over and over then you might be banned, but I think it would take a lot for that to happen.
The only time I ever got a ban was from doing Daddy's cummies copypasta death notes. As with all good games you aren't going to get in trouble unless you're throwing the game, being racist, or putting inappropriate things in notes.
ToS is definitely fun just don't be a jerk.
You used to be able to put water back into pond. Put too much in and it flooded.
Jason removed hungry work from killing mouflons because we have fences. Jason's answer is always use a fence kek
You unironically need a hobby.
Classic Jason response - maybe use property fences? LOL
>You use a normal gate
You are constantly needing to grant access else no one can go outside. Very easy to have someone block you in with gates because the set up time is 2 minutes (to get approved) + 5 minutes until lasts for two hours. :^) but it takes ten minutes to remove them AND it requires an older person who understands the process. Not to mention the person on the other side can just pull off the paper.
>You use an ally gate
Anyone who wants to come in can just grant themselves access. You are still vulnerable to gate griefing as if the gate is close enough for vanilla users (L O L) your walls are small and likely just constricting the town. :^) the defense for this is to get your leader to exile. Good luck with that when leadership can be dropped on someone 3k away from the village.
Fencing your town has ALWAYS been a death trap. You could floor a bunch of tiles outside your gate but then they just build gates all in front of your village.
I think the solution is to just return bears to being nonhostile when fed mutton again (he changed it at some point for them to fuck off for 30 seconds before being hostile after fed again.)
Just change the feed transition to be from hand instead of on the ground as this requires you to lure bears onto mutton to eat which is just weird. Once fed bears go from follow movements to random which means the bear will go randomly until the mutton wears off. Previously at this point the bear just went dormant until someone ran through it or shot it. CChange this last sstage to a new transition deemed sleeping grizzly bear as a grizzly bear staring into the void is weird, and just draw the bear sleeping on the ground. Only let an arrow wake it while it sleeps and boom. You can just feed the bears mutton to get them to fuck off (like the transition was originally used for) instead of as a means to distract it for 30 seconds until it came back to attack again (Why was this even done??)
If you're feeling frisky let any meat types (rabbit, mutton, pork) be fed to the bear and now someone with a backpack can quickly dispatch 4 bears at a time while someone else gets ready to cage their sleepy asses.
The actual takeaway from the apocalypse is that it causes a bug that enabled tool slots for the surviving families which would easily lead to both mass confusion and limit their survival heavily.
Also food degradation + only wild foods would pretty much kill these families too. Once again mechanics clashing + bugs are the issue here not whatever garbage the above post is. Lel.
Does anyone actually think that triggering the apocalypse would help this situation?
The answer is no. If anyone actually thought that would fix the issue they're a goofball.
The real answer is to disable food degradation until the server is stable. Regardless if new players eat food slower they're still going to eat 20 berries at once when the pip value is only one.
There is always going to be impending server implosion when population booms because the game is balanced around like 30 playing instead of 100. We've never had a functioning long lasting society even when the game was a pie baking simulator. Once again Jason needs to relieve some of the pressure else the game is a starving simulator.
DiscardedSlinky wrote:Why would you post such a shitty Reddit post here?
he gets paid for it
Oh no are (((they))) paying him to shitpost?
Nothing in this game is balanced around any future thought out update which is what leads to all these weird problems. Oil was balanced around the rift which is why it's so funky for tarry spots which lead to the new oil drawing system. However, spacing isn't remotely balanced around the plane of tarry spots existing only horizontally.
Other examples of this being stuff like twins not being able to curse is a balancing mechanism for the rift as groups cursing the same person basically instantly removed them from the rift.
Clearly, Eves and hunger should be removed from OHOL.
Just remove the game from the game. Problem solved forever and ever.

These threads are basically the same thing. How about posting the same advice to one thread instead of making two?
It's possible to get water from ponds and to dig up more springs to get more water and import it. So, were a family to not obtain rubber tires for a pump or kerosene, it might not die off due to water issues.
Also, multiple landing strips can get difficult to navigate. There's no way to pick a landing strip spot based on coordinates.
Landing strips also decay.
Reading a map within 30 seconds before taking off in a plane causes you to land at the closest landing strip to the map's destination. This makes plane flights much more reliable and much less griefable with cargo-cult trap strips. Poor five oz. of vodka on the sidewalk for our fallen comrade Tarr.

I have no idea if it works though as planes have been dead content long enough to not play with the coding.
I cannot fathom why someone who leads bears to town would then come and complain others do it to him.
You get cursed for griefing towns via stealing all the flat rocks to make the world's ugliest roads. You get cursed for leading bears into towns, and cursed for being an overall rude dude.
If there are any real issues with cursing it would be you not constantly being in DT for all the shenanigans.
This is a you problem which isn't at any fault of the game.
Wee woo wee woo.
Job titles > meme titles. Real miss overall on not doing a declare /job vs the leadership system. By clearly defining what someone is it is clear on who to go for to get things done.
/Baker
/Teacher
/Smith
/Builder
/Apprentice (or something short for new people to declare themselves something.)
/Chef (for different cooking than baking
/Lumberjack.
You get the drift. I had this suggestion back when tool slots were a thing as a means to give free slots but titles would still help village structure a lot more than titles ever would.
StrongForce wrote:I don't think the Apocalypse should be considered griefing. It is exciting and challenging on both sides imo. *Spellchecked
I agree. If it's in the game, it's fair play. Everyone plays the game differently. I am amazed at the all the different ways people play the same game.
The apocalypse (lowercase "A"), can be completed in 47 steps, according to OneTech.

I remember a broken time in the game when an apocalypse happened every eight hours. With the new game mechanics I wonder how such a thing would play out. Would players welcome it or would they fight against it? Would they tend their berries as the world burned or would they struggle against an inevitability?
People who cared would just walk over and kick it over if it was easy enough to disable. There will never be some EpIk level fight over an apocalypse due to how the game is set up. We're likely getting a wipe this week anyways due to how things need to be shifted around.
When the apocalypse is "fair" it's undoable, and when it's doable it's normally unstoppable due to mechanic abuse.

All of these threads including the one I'm posting in are based off the same idea that long term families can't exist due to live-updates. Please stop reposting the same crap repeatedly and Just bump one of your eight threads you have on the same topic.
fug wrote:Instead of making another spam thread why not bump one of your many other threads on the topic?
I didn't make a spam thread to begin with.
This is like the sixth thread about the same thing. Pretty sure that makes it spam.
Instead of making another spam thread why not bump one of your many other threads on the topic?

Presuming that the mineshaft comes from You Are Hope, aren't they supposed to be distancing themselves from OHOL after that argument from a year and a half ago or so, as to make sure that the game has no association with Jason Rohrer, nor any people making that connection? If they're creating new assets with the already existing assets from OHOL, wouldn't that be against what Jason Rohrer exclaimed when things went south?
They got forked out of updates (basically after a certain version they could no longer use the same version of the game.) Follow that up with they're also working on YaH2 and soon you'll have a better ohol than the original.
Only to see them ended by the same trolls as always.
Is there any actual solution to this problem or is it doomed to continue forever?
Leadership doesn't seem to work because newer players can get it (as meme score isn't something you can keep high forever). New players or mediocre players don't realize to not give leadership away to people who ask.
Pvp doesn't work because when a troll does get leadership you can only fight back when they're in murder state. (They work in nontwin pairs and heal each other.) Under the leadership combat system you're stuck asking for someone to deal with your issue which they may or may not be around to deal with (Why do people 2k away inherit leadership anyways?)
You can't actively curse them out due to the specific trolls having 20 or so accounts between them. This leads to constantly needing to curse the same people over multiple accounts. Maybe something like the total curses on account need to matter again? These accounts likely have tons or curses with moderately low play time though someone else can check that themselves.
So what is the solution to this dilemma? We were on our way to a 300 gen family without super overpowered spawn protection and it got ruined by the same trolls as always.
