#126 Re: Main Forum » Welcome to Snowdin! » 2019-11-22 12:43:09

I enjoyed Snowdin. It was such a nice family experience. It's a shame it was so perfect that there very little left to do for beginners (of which there were many) and so it was basically just farming trees and more advanced stuff like getting oil.

#127 Re: Main Forum » Bored of grinding? Hire a steam Noob :p (they are quite fun as well) » 2019-11-22 12:35:55

Genius. I never realised the potential to make beginners do specific tasks for me specifically. It's so dull to teach people baking and farming.

#128 Re: News » Update: Oil and Water » 2019-10-12 23:15:38

Can you make the shovel less wasteful when burying people? It's ridiculous to leave all those corpses and bone piles around on the ground.

I know nothing about The royal family, I spent my life out gathering Bananas, mushrooms, cacti fruit, and lost clothes for Yum and warmth for the village. Before I died, there was talk about someone stealing a crown.. So I take it, it was still going at that point.

Apparently, one of the kings after Jasper lost the crown to the Nana Family in the south. Never got it back. But it was nice whilst it lasted.

Been playing a few games today and many of them were in the Branas family.

At the start, there were two crowns with random people holding them. Then I was born to one of the kings as Liam and inherited the throne. I established a ceremony at the temple and named it a tradition. Good life.
http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … id=5322471

A few lives later, I played as Awi Branas and a close cousin to the King and Queen (now holding both crowns in the close family). I was the trusted royal advisor for the better part of my life to the Queen Mother and his Boy King. I had to fight pretenders and contend with an incompetent boy king who later died. I arranged the marriage between the brother of the king, future King Merlin and his Queen consort Amanda.
http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … id=5322640

I soon spawned in again as Violet Branas. I married the heir and king, with the blessing of Queen Mother Amanda. My children became the new royals through Queen Amando, and Thea became the High Priest at the temple.
http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … id=5322801

After a while, I spawned in again as Haadi Branas. My old line still standing strong. Queen Ellenore followed after Amando then came Aquinnah. I was a handmaiden and had a few siblings who would play a big part in the village. After Aquinnah disappeared and left no heirs there was a succession crisis. An imposter, Jasper Branas, claimed the right to rule. My sister Winter and I, couldn't take this for a fact since we were adamant royalists and he was not even from the same branch. We rebelled but was forced to submit due to his many allies and his queen mother. Ofc, he pardoned us and we plotted to have him removed again. My sister struck the final blow and I killed the man who tried to heal him before dying of old age.

I love this town, even if the succession is now dubious I hope it continues until the arc resets

And you can be productive whilst roleplaying. Made many pies, stoked the fire and farmed extensively.

It's actually not that bad after the latest big update with a bunch of fixes. I'm looking forward to seeing what he's got in store for the future.

#132 Re: News » Update: What We've Learned » 2019-08-25 22:00:14

This update looks great, love the changes as seen on onetech. It's great that we can remove ponds and cacti etc.

Would be great to see some other item fixes in the future like partial track cart kit being disassemblable seeing how you can accidentally render "boards + wooden wheel" useless if you're trying to make a cart which a lot of new people do.

#133 Re: Main Forum » I didnt hate the rift. » 2019-08-15 21:26:03

I agree that if the wilderness within the rift were more alive and self-regenerating it would have been better.

Couple this with some quality of life updates and loosen the resource requirements to build a functioning society and we're golden. I think we should be able to build, farm, etc with make-do stone tools. The requirement of certain iron tools to perform simple actions from the real world is very silly.

Part one: https://onehouronelife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=7512

I, Heron Hi, spawned in the old Abram settlement, now owned by the Hi clan. There I found the paper merchant kit I had lost previously mostly intact.

My old uncle Tyra Goda was a cousin of mine, Fouda Hi, in this life, and by coincidence, we met up there. She was too old to go the journey but had begun to assemble the kit. I took it over with her blessing and went on my merry way.

I met up with the Whislers in the south of the old decayed Goda settlement. They were so excited when they saw me. One of theirs shouted with joy after he had read my note. He first offered me a pie, I made a sad face. Then two pies (all whilst avoiding one of their hostile members) but it wasn't enough. Three pies, nope. Finally, I was offered three iron, which is a super deal, with a huge loss for them and I would have given them all of my paper for it if it weren't for their guards being so pointy-ouch-ouch.

I went north above the Godas and found the old Cola / Firestone settlement, now inhabited by the Hope family. The kids were happy to see me but too young to fully get the message from my notes. The adults wouldn't read the notes for some reason. No deal.

Went home to show the gain I had made. The settlement was filled with drama and Fouda Hi died bloody moments after I arrived. Shame. My clansmen got the iron and I headed out again...

So then I found the Codes, but they ignored me. I couldn't find another settlement that could trade with afterwards so I retired.

Your first problem is that you tried trading, period..

Currently there is 0 incentive to trade. If a random unrelated guy waltzed alone into my village with a cart full of goodies, which would be easier and gain more value for my family: giving the guy some of our own items for some of his, or killing him and not only getting the items he was trading, but also his clothes, food, and cart?

The answer will always be killing him. You get more gain out of it, with little to no consequence since 90% of the time your family won't care or will even encourage it [since you are obviously an outsider].

Maybe someday Jason will give us incentive and reason to trade instead of kill/loot.. but I wouldn't hold your breath over it. In the meantime, you can keep trying, but don't expect good results when killing outsiders isn't only easy, but also encouraged.

Sorry for trying to have fun.

Only when the map is drained on resources is it worth it. Try finding milkweed in the wild a few hours in... better to trade for a bowl of seeds.

I had two notes. One stating my business "Paper Merchant" and one asking for something in return. The rest were goods.

The Slinkers were hostile, so I had to retreat.

The Abrams family was kinder,  we ended up trading for a so-so deal for one basket of paper for a basket and a wolf hat. I had trouble carting the goods for the road, and whilst rearranging my goods one of their brats stole the rest of the paper and I ended up murdered by one of their clansmen. Oof. Thanks Angela Abrams who killed that wild nut Conan, but sad that you couldn't save me in time.

Thanks for the experience, Abrams

In the future, I recommend people travel with a crew of at least two and maybe a spare cart for items you end up trading. Also, don't trade so close to their settlement since you'll likely lose your stuff completely.

The road is dangerous for us merchants.

Shout out to my uncle Tyra (?) who made the whole thing and brought me on the first failed expedition. I took the trade very seriously.

http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … id=5086297

Also, I left two sons (I believe) in an abandoned eve village with plenty of food. I hope they made it. It's too early to see if they got back to civilisation. If you read this, sorry I left and told you I would come back...

Small map means people will bump into each other more than ever which could be a good thing I guess.

This is a prime time to add

- Adams and fathers.

- Family branches, clans and personal surname for your immediate family. It's not unique enough as it is now.

- Marriage. It all ties in nicely.

Also, we can't be expected to survive on the limited number of resources as they are now. It would be better to either cheapen the current cost of iron tools, buildings and other stuff so that we'll actually have enough time to create somewhat interesting societies (at least longer than a few hours).

Jason wants us to create a bustling society, and that could happen but only if we don't have to grind and cut corners to make it. Killing children or people who "misuse" resources which leave us struggling to make more stuff to make a city interesting, is not the way forward.

Been following it since Feb 2018, got it August 2018, whilst studying in South Africa I got to see Twisted videos. He was the only good one who didn't do casual interpretation mistakes like taking the fire drill and try to use it as a bow.

My first update was the addition of roads.

#142 Re: Main Forum » Annoyances with One Hour One Life » 2019-06-05 07:52:26

Letters are too tedious to make resulting in unnamed towns for the vast majority of the time.

Well, yeah, of course if you walk away, you're not starting your own fresh line.

But obviously, if ever player started their own fresh line, there'd be 100 concurrent lines, and it would never work.

So we simply cannot allow every player to start their own line, nor can we allow players to decide to be Eve.

This is the hidden reason why established lines were dying out, I think.  You are competing with 15 other lines for babies.

But why not replace the current surnames with a clan name and then people can pick their own last name if they're far enough from the main family? Still the same ancestor, but different "gens".

#145 Re: Main Forum » Buildings double plus good » 2019-05-22 23:20:47

Wouldn't it be better if the 12x12 was counted through a maximum of 144 tiles indoors in any pattern as long as it is within the same walled room? Squares are really boring. And too large buildings aren't pleasing to the eye either.

All the minmaxers will stab anyone that attempts to build smaller 6x6 now due to "inefficiency". Those people never want to have fun.

#146 Re: Main Forum » Snow bunnies, stone bunnies, regional bunnies... » 2019-05-20 21:42:14

I guess that would be the only trading worth having, rare luxury goods not available in your area.

#147 Re: Main Forum » Jason's Vision » 2019-05-18 00:57:02

I feel like the problem is that Jason isn't adding things in the correct order. Why do we novelty items like radios, photographers and cars when we don't need buildings? Is Jason afraid that we'd get bored by simple storage upgrades?

One would hope that he knows that clutter is the real problem right now.

#148 Re: Main Forum » Idea: Walls take up space in between tiles, not entire space itself » 2019-05-18 00:51:17

1. Make buildings good temperature-wise with the current size limit but instead of making the limit a square, make a specific number of tiles (built in any fashion or shape as long as it's walled) make up the max size limit of an effective building.

2. Introduce a lot more storage and stacking to make up for lost space

3. Make some things wither (like tools) if outside for too long in one go to incentivise storage

4. Make writing signs cheaper and less tedious so that we can connect better with towns and communicate functions to clueless citizens in our town.

That's how you fix us not having towns.

#150 Re: Main Forum » [Trade] Different ethnicities have unique recipes. » 2019-05-09 21:10:13

Isn't this overlooking why certain ethnicities are said to be better at certain things? It's obvious it comes to environmental impact. If you're born into a coastal fishing tribe then hell yeah you'll probably learn to be a better fisher than most, but it's not in your DNA.
