#151 Main Forum » Ideas how to make leadership even better » 2020-06-28 07:10:57

I didn't play yesterday, so I avoided crashes after update. While people scores were dropping, mine stay intact and now I'm in better position. smile So I became a leader, I like it and I have some thoughts about how to improve it.

1. coronation - Leader after becoming an alder (I think 55 yr) could get info who will become next leader. If currect leader is wearing a crown, he/she can pass it to next one. That's how crowns can be seen as real insignia of power, not just decoration.

Gold can be use for something else, not just crowns and bells.

2. leader's property - As I mentioned before, there should be command 'Leader own this' and the property gate will be pass to next leaders.

3. abdication - If you don't wanna be a leader, don't have time or will to search for good player to follow, and don't wanna lose gene score (also don't wanna fucked up others score) - type /abdicate

@DestinyCall

Are you sure you were leader of whole town? Or there was someone higher in hierarchy? Use /leader to check if there's someone above you. /followers to see how many of them you have.

The flaw with posse is this.. I'm spotting a griefer and absence of leader. I'm telling people about it. They says 'oh'. Meanwhile, someone is already forming a posse. People are now focused on growling people and joining, rather than choosing new leader. They will lose time on it, a long time before they could reach posse of 8.

My solution is - growling shouldn't be able if someone isn't exiled. 1 person can growl, but when you forming posse, people should have something like HMPH on their faces - a sign that you can't kill an ally, posse can't be formed until someone is exiled. As for rival hierarchies - same as above, HMPH before they can reach enough posse to kill.

Yes, they are. Also receiving important things (leadership, ownership) should be more alarming than receiving orders.

Last family members should be punished for letting family die out, by lowering their gene score.

Thank you Jason for trying to balancing it out and claryfing about migration.

#155 Re: Main Forum » Idea — Road making vehicle » 2020-06-25 04:45:04

We always need something to do in towns, because we need variety diet, but I see people are making towns prettier, building radios and cars. Game is flourishing now. And I saw someone used a car to bring stuff, just now, in Batman family. It's now locked in property.

But to whom should we gave access to cars? Leader can't leave homelands, it can create problems. My daughter asked me for gate access and said she built the car. I had a feeling it might be true, but I didn't wanna risk losing it.

If sandbox can't be good, I prefer smaller but better.

explain to me why a sandbox is not good?

They can be pretty dull, too big to have decent content. They depend mostly on nice views, good graphics.

But death takes away your gene score.

I wonder who owns the gate right after you? Closest relative, if child then older one? Can someone explain to me?

#159 Re: Main Forum » Sometimes leader is not in the town. » 2020-06-24 20:11:23

If leader is not in home, system would automatically choose next person with highest gene score to be vice-leader, and next one if currently vice will go. By that, there would be always someone in charge. Would that be good? IMO no, more people means bigger thread that power will fall into wrong hands.

But if there would exist lighter punishment than death, people can inprison griefers (with handcuffs) and wait for leader to exile them and give them death sentence.

#160 Re: Main Forum » Why so distant? - about game difficulty » 2020-06-23 23:15:38

It happens again. White lives 2-3k away from others.

What if... a leader can arrange a voting? 'Your leader Sylvia Knox propose family migration'. You choose by typing /yes or /no (can slash be use like this?) or by commands 'I want/don't want to migrate'.

If everyone would choose yes, then family well is abandoned and we can pick another spot. It can be used after reaching some generation.

Lol true and good point. Same happens today.

We saved gingers, thanks to brown family (but they died out), gingers has kero now.

#163 Re: Main Forum » Sometimes leader is not in the town. » 2020-06-22 15:04:14

But people should be able to follow someone from another tribe. The leader is the one that shouldn't be able to do that.

Question. Why leaders aren't property owners (with the engine)? Shouldn't there be a command like "leader owns this"?

Map can still be infinite, but with one natural border like ocean that @JackTreehorn mentioned. That is nice idea, but I think Jason want all races to go out and meet others, not white ones to be the traders for everyone.

But even if cars didn't require kerosene to work, I'm worried some people would always steal them anyways... Well, we could fence them tho, to prevent that.

That's why I travelled so far, to get raw tire for engine and make a car. I would wrote about this more in topic about leaders.

When people stop traveling 2k+ to bring kerosene or rubber, the towns die out quicker and will rejoin the other families at the eve-spawns.
People need to realize they need each other and that having close neighbors is key to survival.
They won't learn when people (most of the time veterans with a zoom mod) keep on supporting their lifestyle by traveling huge distances.

Game should support travelling to better places. Recently I needed to shoot last females in family, because there was no veins near. Lol.

I wish Jason would answer to this. Infinite world is an issue.

I don't wanna spend my life in boat sailing for 2,5k.

Beside game won't allow for boats, but we can start on island-like rift and build bridges through water biome to get access to new lands. We don't need them for homelands, just for resources, so we would spawn inside the first island and distance problem will vanish. The donkeys can start on another islands, not 20k far, THEY could be the danger and the ones that can conquer the fertile families. Whadda you say about that?

Yesterday gingers were living 2,5k from browns, it's too far away. I brought them kero and bring latex back, it was so dull life, I'll never do that again. I want this game to test my skills, not require from me riding through wilderness for 20 minutes which is no-skill gameplay. A game where you don't need skills is bad game, it would be better if families would live closer, but people would be more hostile towards each other.

#168 Re: Main Forum » Where is the love? Can we end the segregation!? Please?! » 2020-06-15 15:38:48

Racism is idea that some races are better, therefore they should rule, conquer and wipe out others. But every races in OHOL has limitations, there are no supreme ones. People confuse racism with race characteristics, which they lead to identity. Losing identity is another form of wiping your race, or weaker it to be enslaved. Modern political correctness is, in fact, another way of racism, a psychology war, very clever one where people lose identity by themselves and convince others to do it, in good faith, to get rid of racism.

When it comes to OHOL, I'm thinking about having one big multi-racial city (give white ones ability to share their homeland), 3 smaller mono-racial towns. Towns would depend on city for rubber, so people would still travel. Also people in mono-towns can be able to produce stuff that people in a city can't. And Eve's would orbit around city in circles. Females in city would be able to have children with different skin tones. I think by that everyone would be satisfied and can choose how they wanna play the game.

Give short names for babies, easier to curse them.

Yes.

An elders can't decide of war/peace, it's random people. It must be leaders, two leaders can't gather, so a leader should nominate one person that will be able to make war/peace declarations in the name of family (leader would get info if that person dies). The nominated person would gather some title.

In past month I was playing You Are Hope (OHOL on phones).

YAH has new clothes - turban, vest, bigger backpack (for adults) and long shirt. Plus more colours to dye (you can get two-coloured cloth). I was master dyer, I started a dye shop and I really like it. I expect OHOL to expand content like that. How? Each family can produce their own style. Prepare 2 wool cloths, put them together and use a pen on it. This way you can choose what kind of cloth you wanna make, then sew it. Each family can be able to produce clothes in their own style. In total we would get 4 different hats, shirts and trousers/skirts. A lot of variety! Two families living very close can mix their style, so as visitor you would immediately know which family lives nearby, also explorers would wear exotic clothes.

I like that actually, It gives males an actual role as well. I like the idea of conquest to include other races into your family, Even if it has kinda rapey implications lol.

But people from another family must be able to kill. As I understand posse system, you need equal/bigger hierarchy to form a posse against existing one, right? Can outsider follow the foreign leader (to be safe in foreign town)?
