What exactly is "global"? We made a receiver, and used a "g" on it. Does this accept all frequencies or create a special frequency or something?
Not nearly wasteful enough. Berry circle for optimal composting annoyance.
Fixed the discord link, didn't realize it was set to expire in one day as someone told me on steam. Lemme know in this thread if there's other issues with the discord, I've never made a channel.
Name bugs fixed and pushed, will be live when I update the server on friday for jason's changes. If you were Aaby, you'll be something hopefully more interesting xD
Yeah I can't see signs being griefed on purpose. If anything, allowing signs to be griefed could be a positive: Whereas a griefer can make serious havoc in a town, you'd tie them up ruining only one lifetime of activity if they went around tearing down signs. Eve griefers likely suicide to town.
So I think the only consideration would be "Would a gatherer accidentally wreck this". Like making one out of flat rocks is probably not a good idea.
Hah, I saw that too, that's my apron when I logged out there after seeing it. There's two jason heads activated. I was going to just deactivate the apocalypse on the next update tomorrow/friday, but I guess I'll just do it now xD
It's pretty much impossible to get the apocalypse rolling, though.
alright, shutting down the server for a second.
Edit: Alright, server back up, apocalypse off
I think which gender gets clothes is far more important. In towns that are generally cold, I'd rather have every female, even baby girls get clothes. In desert towns, probably best to ship out all clothing, as exploring men will die to malaria and women at home will overheat.
Oh I don't care whether people /die tbh, just pointing out that people think /die has no affect on mother fertility because it resets the baby cooldown, when this is not the case: in fact, it actually can severely harm their fertility.
Eh, in a game where dudes can steal and ditch car made from the effort of like 5 people's whole lives, I think a minor yum inconvenience is something you're just gonna have to deal with xD
Well, /die doesn't mean the mother doesn't suffer some baby loss. The average baby time is going to be (baby cooldown) + (time to next available baby). Which can be a huge amount of time at low server population. Once I had 3 babies, all SIDS. If none had SIDSed, I probably would've had 2. So it was actually a huge relative setback.
Yeah the history of the yum-on is pretty interesting. I got the idea to start that above the bakery, and the sign was originally going to be "Yum-Only". But I ran out of letters so it was Yum-on, and then people liked that better. Back then I think it had like 20 pieces of food, mostly forage. But then it was too close to the bakery, and people were confused, so I moved it to where it is now..
I don't really like the location, it's partway on a glacier, but It's just way too big to move now xD
I wouldn't know about snakes and wolves. I think you may have to start your zoo around some ![]()
Edit: Btw, going to look into better communication soon. Usually the server only has 1-8 people, spread out over a gigantic city, and usually when I feel like talking, sometmies I just think "screw it" xD
So either discord, or a chat mod. Most likely I will be way too lazy for the chat mod, but I may get to it.
Edit: Alright, discord is up, linked in OP.
I don't get why people would want to hack around game logic to try and live longer than they should. Why not just join a server with continuity? Mine's pretty small, but I hear 2hol is pretty big. I decided I didn't enjoy it, so I never played again on the main servers.
That's kinda weird that the top two avg hours played are so dramatically different from the rest. Like everything below that seems to gradually taper down but, boom, two huge jumps.
Oh yeah, I think a while ago water had different regeneration than it does now, so you could make wells regenerate faster by emptying them. or maybe that's still the case. Dunno.
It's for the pump: after a while, you end up getting a water pump, and all of the other water sources dry up eventually. This pump has a very low water capacity. The cistern is used in tandem with this pump.
tl;dr don't worry about a cistern unless your civilization is quite advanced.
Well, it's multiplayer, and you get an advantage to people not doing it, and it's officially discouraged. That's pretty much the definition of cheating
It's true that it just affects you but think of it this way. What if a client could magically make you not hunger at all? Pretty obviously cheating, even though it only affects you. And especially with towns competing for babies in the last few updates, your utility kinda does affect everyone, and people in other towns negatively.
Let's be real awbz does give you a pretty sizable advantage, probably greater than no hunger to an experienced player. Ask yourself why you're using it in the first place and it becomes pretty clear how.
That said, the game is pretty sandboxy, non-discouraged options exist that seriously negatively impact other towns (griefing, /die) so I don't really see why anyone would care enough to stab someone, not to mention conversations are pretty awful without awbz. Step one foot away, view center shifts, oh no I can't hear you!
I'll have to look at the code again, but I'm assuming it's the yum multiplier, not the yum pip bonus, that's looked at. In which case the yellow fever exploit thing would probably be a minor benefit mostly canceled out by the temporary bad temperature of yellow fever.
Might want to fully elaborate on fertility. From what I undestand it's you get a weghting based on yum, temperature, and are picked for babies based on that weighting.
Example:
Mom1: Temp: mild (0.5 weight) + 8 yum (highest Yum on server, so 0.5 weight)
Mom2: Temp: hot (lets call it 0.2) + 2 yum (0.125)
Mom3: Temp: worst (0 weight) + 0 yum (0 weight)
Total weights:
Mom1:1
Mom2:0.325
Mom3:0
Baby chance:
Mom1: 1/1.375 = ~72%
Mom2: 0.375/1.375 = ~28%
Mom3: 0/1.375 = 0%
So basically, mom3 is essentially infertile, and mom1 is going to seriously pop out kids.
Nobody knows, everyone's getting it randomly, probably due to the update (lots of changes to activating and deactivating servers)
Ah yeah, building that road was crazy xD My thoughts were anyone using an out of town road would use a car or horse or something, but a barricade is a good idea too!
Yeah if a spammer hacked a small custom server for emails that are mostly fake steam emails, they probably should find a new line of business xD
Yeah I'm not sure how effective a curse system would be on a server with generally low population. If griefers want, they can outnumber the players at any time, which the curse "voting" doesn't deal with very well. My thinking is just getting several players I trust at various time zones SAY powers similar to cursing or banning.
Yeah that's a fair point. I could also check for my user on SAY commands and give myself super powers, like adding people to a blocked list until I have to shut the server down anyways. Either way, I wish something like this was easy to find before I started my own server, although uncle gus' thread was super awesome too.
Sweet. That scared me a bit xD I was using jason's authentication system. I'll look into this later, your stuff looks interesting
Right now my only way of handling a griefer is shutting down the server for a moment and blocking their email.
Wait, the keys exist on a custom server in clear text? Or just the ticketing server? My impression was the client encrypts the key, the encrypted key passes through the server to the ticketing server. I got 0 answers when I asked about it on discord unfortunately, and I wasn't about to spend 5 hours digging around to find out
I know the emails exist on the custom server, but that doesn't feel like a huge deal.
Now the big question is, does increasing the amount of bells past a certain point increase the amount of big cities or water them down?
