So me and my twin were with an eve camp, we just made some tools a pen was being made and had load of kids. Maybe too many, but wasn't a problem as of yet. All of a sudden an Eve came crashing in!
She looked super excited (/happy) and tried learning oyr language immediately. "Tried" no one reaallly wanted to teach her our words. We asked the eve for her guidence. Many of my family wanted her dead, and we talked to each other. Eventually the Our Eve spoke:
KILL THE EVE
Before dying of old age. My sister started making a bow and all while this was going on the Eve , just had a goofy smile and kept repeating us.

She had a girl. I snatched her baby and ran, hoping she would follow. She didn't and now I was left with a confused baby. I crossed the jungle till we got to a really fruitful place.
I tried talking to her. And here's the thing: she understood

So I raised her till she was big, and decided to leave. I called ger Mia. Mia tried following me back but I knew my family would kill her
"STAY HERE"
Ok
"RHEY WILL KILL YOU"
yes
I left Mia to live, and hoped for her own good she'd stay on her side of the jungle.

TL;DR Just another story I enjoyed of the language update!

Pu's have a city fence, and so far only one person was locked out! It is hard to tell who already owns the fence though. Just went to the baby fire and passed on the message

Maybe an (extremely rare) chance that if you are not healed fast enough you may become lame? And require assistance? It just seems like a way to also put in "disadvantages" too! If you want to be healed, chances are you care about staying alive no matrer the cost? Just my pitch in!
Just another way to see people get represented in a game I suppose

#182 Re: Main Forum » lets talk in our OWN LANGUAGE! will be so much FUUUN! ich mach deutsch » 2019-05-16 16:18:18

#183 Re: Main Forum » Hotfix incoming » 2019-05-16 16:10:18

English isn't my first language either, and some people just ignore language. Go away from the town, ignore outsiders - then you wont be forced into it
Just talk to your family I guess

#184 Re: Main Forum » its a griefer- + racism-update!!! I HATE IT!!!! WANT MY MONEY BACK!!! » 2019-05-16 05:00:13

Before the update, most ignored you if you came to a bell town. Because lots of families do, now they notice more I feel
Besides you are paying for access to the server, not the game. The game is like an experiment, and I think you should stick around to see the result!

#185 Re: Main Forum » Improvements in the new language system » 2019-05-15 19:25:31

So far language highlights:
Once we managed to (almost) be able to translate complete phrases! Tried to pass it onto kids aswell!

Also another highlight:
An eve spawned near our camp and got bit, we nursed her back to health but she ran away
As she ran she had a daughter who she left behind.
The baby had no idea what was going on! They just /blushed and responded in ?? But I think it went ok, considering we had no resources to teach her properly

As always there is room for improvement but I think this update pretty much hit the head on the nail

I mean I like it. No matter what ypu have planned it can go out of the window, and I just think that kind of spontaneity is really refreshing in games like this

That's the main issue I have with the language update...language isn't inherited, but learned. Kids who grow up in the presence of two languages should be bilingual, not confused. That's probably ridiculously hard to code in though, so I'll forgive it.

To the people who don't like the update:

This is the point where I think it's becoming obvious that Jason has some sort of creative vision for the game that doesn't line up with some of the more vocal players' opinions. Personally, I've always thought killing is a super interesting part of the game because it messes up the status quo and allows for some cool rp, although I'm afraid to kill anyone myself because I don't want to end up in Donkey Town. Then again, I'm a theater nerd who's always been a fan of stuff like Hamlet and Macbeth, so of course I'm gonna like war and murderers as part of a survival game. Clearly, though, there are a lot of people who want to use it as sort of a building sandbox, which is great and all, but I'm not sure if that's where Jason wants to go with it.

The fact that there even ARE griefers who kill people for "rp shit" like making dresses as I saw someone say on another thread shows that some people really just want to build as much as efficiently as possible, which is great, but...I don't think that's where the game is going. This is a RP game at its heart, and I honestly think Jason wants that RP to include war and murder.

And as far as wasting resources goes...isn't the concept of this game to see how many generations it will take us to get to our current level of technology? Do you know how many resources we've wasted irl to get where we are today? How many people we've killed? How much we've destroyed? It's not pretty, but if we're gonna get in-game to where we are irl, we're gonna have to waste a crap ton of resources. That's just how it goes.

Then again, what the fans think is a crucial aspect of the game's success, so if most people are against it then Jason will have to figure something else out. Like FeignedSanity said, I think it's just a vocal minority who really hate it, but I could be wrong.

A poll would honestly be nice...that's a good way to get a lot of opinions at once.

And maybe there could be some sort of sandbox server where murder and war is impossible for those who just want to build.

Just thought to clarify:
The descendants learnt somw words but the confusion mainly stemmed that we all looked the same! They'd come up to me thinking I was their mum and visa versa!

#188 Re: Main Forum » Twin Eves don't speak the same language btw. » 2019-05-11 14:40:35

In twin eves it was really interesting and funny since mainly the dependants are confused - not the eves

#189 Re: Main Forum » I swear, the RNG did it... » 2019-05-11 09:31:36

Eveing with another player, and her kids tried traching me words! I reapeted them proudly to the whole baby fire. I did not say "I love you." Like i thought... apparently that young whipper snapper was teaching me and my kids slurs! The babies looked so hurt and confused kek

#190 Re: Main Forum » What's a sword between neighboring towns? » 2019-05-08 05:10:27

Maybe you can only speak the same language once you share an item of clothing? This trader in thier barbaric rabbit clothes is incomprehensible until you show them your ways and give them woolen clothes.
Or visaversa

What is this sophisticated guy in a top hat saying? We must give him a shawl, maybe then we can understand.

Thus could also create conflict, since
A) you have to give your resources to someone you don't know

And
B) Who even knows their intentions This barbarian in thier rabbits, could be looking to steal!
TL;DR
Sharing resources to understand language

#191 Re: Main Forum » Give a kid a BP.... study design. » 2019-05-08 05:00:21

I've tested this beforr and got some interesting results!
#1 You give your child basically *everything* everyone in town chips in, this baby has it all!

#2 You give your child a backpack, because you trust em

#3 Your child asks for a pack (give or take politness)

#4 you go hunting together and (if no one dies) the first thing your kid gets is a backpack!

#1 = tends to die in mid 20s, or if unlucky in thier teens!

#2 = Pretty sound, especially if they are a son, since they can make the best use may die in 20s grom yellow fever but not before shpwing thier family the fruits of their labour!

#3 = This one depends on how they ask. I've noticed that those who ask politely and don't chase you around normally live longer than those who don't!

#4 = Best scenario of all, since even if they die they learn, mainly get early 50s

However these all depend on players, these are just trends I've noticed

#192 Re: Main Forum » NOO WATTERRRRR » 2019-05-06 20:43:40

In a town, we only had one well (went dry) so we sent our only male out for milkweed for a bucket, while my sisters and I huddled around a fire. Was intense for sure!

#196 Re: Main Forum » If you had Vog access on official servers for 1 hour, what would youdo » 2019-04-17 16:41:53

I would go to eve towns where they were struggling, and they were lonely (losts of SIDs) and just..Speak from an item to try and encourage kids to stay.
Even better if it's a man,
"Crazy ol' gramps talking to a bush" kek

#198 Re: Main Forum » If you could start one in-game folk tradition what would it be? » 2019-04-16 13:08:01

Call 1 goose Boris and feed the town with thier offspring! The Boris must bless these lands

#199 Re: Main Forum » Griefing backfires » 2019-04-16 13:02:15

Best is when they stab...but don't know how blood works and get confused why they can't drop the knife

#200 Re: Main Forum » Twins hate. » 2019-04-16 12:58:47

I do try to be fair to twins, as for me most of the time they are helpful players! The worst case is when you need girls and one of them dies and everyone follows..but hey! It's a game, these things happen kek
