If someone has any info about this MISSINGNO bug, please let me know.  I haven't been able to find anything in the either the MySQL or FluxBB docs about it.

As far as I understand it, MISSINGO happens because due to shortage of storage space on the cartridge therefor valuables have to be temporary stored in places where they don't really belong. Usually this doesn't cause issues for casual players, except for the famous MISSINGNO glitch. See, the aurfable tiles on the east coast of Cinnabar Island were left to set as 'you can encounter battles here', but there is no data assigned to the pool of Pokemon you can encounter so it draws information from the last region you were in and throws those mons at you.
Now if you encounter a wild mon on this coast and the game doesn't have anything to draw from in that temp data storage either (for example the scripted battle with the old man) the program goes haywire and starts drawing values from various other places, resulting in MISSINGO appearing and royaly messing with your game file.
Its actually pretty fascinating how exploitable the first gen of games are due to shoddy programming, if you know what you're doing you can force an encounter with any Pokemon on the original carts with a gameboy. I'm currently doing a solo 151 challenge on my old blue version using this exploit in fact, I already have 2 Mew on it using this method.

I still have no idea what you are on about.  I mean, I haven't been on the forums long enough to even be looked at by any illuminati and I got the glitch too.

I did some research and it may be related to an achievement system Jason tried to implement a while ago? So many coding changes maybe some old coding is seeping through
