Technically, conceiving with your second cousin is as likely to give your child birth defects as much as a stranger's genes.
This seems really cool!
I'm having a problem with the Linux build.... won't run on 32 bit linux (of course), but when I try on 64-bit, my libc is the wrong version or something. This is a big problem on Linux in general, which is why I always ship source bundles as well (and I have no idea how linux Steam works around this).
Have you guys thought about making a source bundle for this client?
Anyway, booting into Windows now.
Also, I appreciate how you guys are working within the bounds of the new "noCopyright" trademark thing by limiting this to customers of the original game. It's also wide-open for you guys to offer a paid "upsell" to existing customers, through Steam or otherwise. Kinda like a third-party DLC, I guess. That's the kind of thing I wanted to explicitly allow---I think that locking this stuff down tightly is foolish, even from a financial perspective.
Make sure you aren't downloading v10, that version is broken so we had to patch it. A few other items and stuff are also messed up lol so we're working on fixing them.
I thought i did do it the same way, but its not seeming to work. I tried to use the awbz mod
Hop on the discord so others can help troubleshoot your problems, make sure you aren’t downloading v10.
How do you add the zoom mod to this? Or is there a lot to it?
The same way you normally add zoom mod to vanilla OHOL.
Will zoom be available in this mod? if so I'd give it a shot.
Yes, other mods are currently supported and can be added to the modded server.
Yeah, I can guarantee you that cranberries are only the tip of the iceberg with misplaced or missing sounds. I'll have to double check why the basket is different, and I know why we removed the cut down transition for the new trees. We can make the changes but fixing them means closing the server and rebuliding the client, which isn't fully automated and takes at least half an hour so for today I think we won't be making any fixes. If anyone else has bug reports, we have a channel in our discord dedicated to that.

I'd almost prefer a higher pip drain rate myself than Jason's. It's not about challenge, but having a reason to eat and make more food types. Like I've thought about intentionally playing naked, since with clothing I need under 20 meals for what I've done on a low pop server most of the time, or around 20 if I get born as a child. But, then it leads to the effect of my food bar just running out faster than I would like, the whole thing you experience as a naked or barely clothed Eve "omg... I just have to keep on eating and eating" that even if it could mean I could eat more of the available foods in a life, I just won't go naked.
Anyone who can yum and knows how to do it to a significant extent probably isn't someone you want to balance around also. I do recall it took me a while to get that it would have benefits.
But is eating the main goal of the game? Isn't it a good thing that you don't have to eat as much to survive in a village? Don't societies gradually shift from being mainly agriculture to technology and services? If less people spend time eating and making food, and more time building technology and cities, then in my opinion I would say it's worth not having the game be as difficult.
If you download the other versions I'm sure it will download just fine, we did hit a snag so we're updating to v11 which should appear to be available to download soon, if not you can download the earlier versions.
Well it's still a work in progress, a lot of experiments going on. We don't know how the slow drain will affect villages bc we haven't had any villages yet lol
Thank ya'll, and yes Tarr I made an error in typing it haha, it's meant to be twice as slow not the other way around, so hunger pips decrease slower than normal. And right now I believe our final version is currently in the middle of building so it may be a hot minute before the server is live.
That’s right! You may or may not have heard about 2HOL, but here comes another modded server. The Community Crucible Mod(CCM) server is a mod made for the community, by the community!
We have our own discord https://discord.gg/SMhUnG3 and server status page http://crucible.oho.life/reflector/serv … ion=report
Just download it here http://crucible.oho.life/download/clientBuilds/ and enter your login email and key from OHOL for access. We may make extra purchasable accounts available later, but for now, if you own OHOL you can play this for free. If you bought the game on steam, use the automated email and the key from your OHOL download link http://onehouronelife.com/steamGate/ser … nload_link
Our Mission
This server wasn’t made to bash Jason and his game, nor is it meant to be wildly different from the vanilla game. We simply wanted to prove that the community can contribute viable solutions to OHOL. CCM will try to stay updated with vanilla OHOL and add new content and mechanics as often as our team can.
Let us know about your idea suggestions and any bugs/missing transitions you find in the discord to help us out. Not all ideas will be approved
What’s in our modded server? Well here’s the list of current removals, additions, and changes.
(-) Removed iron and gold veins
(-) Currently no war swords or languages due to this version being behind, we will eventually get it updated to include these
(-) Removed the inability to curse foreign lineages
(-) Server food bonus (not yum bonus) removed
(+) Added ore veins, acts the same as iron veins but spawn in every biome, yields multiple minerals and ores, and chances are based on what biome the vein is located in

(+) Dry water sources can be made into well sites
(+) New player models
(+) Added edible ingredients:
Cooked beans
Tomatoes
Hot peppers
Bowl of carnitas

(+) Pork can now be made into cooked pork and pork pie the same as mutton
(+) Accounts that are deemed to have too many kills, curses, or visits to donkey town will be permanently BANNED from the modded server at the discretion of the devs, appeals can be made on the discord server but will not be guaranteed approval
(+) Added reservoir, made by shovelling floor stakes, can hold a bucket of water and is used in farming, shovelling a dry reservoir turns it into empty tile
(+)Wet compost turns into composted soil within 3 minutes, but only yields 4 soil baskets instead of the normal 7
(+)Pine needles, sugarcane, and tule can be used to make compost and baskets
(+)Added shelves and wall shelves, iron wire made by running iron rod through draw plate, iron nails made by running iron wire through firing newcomen lathe. Boards added to wall, then add nails and hit with mallet to make wall shelf. Add nails to big stack of boards, hit with mallet to make big shelf. Big shelf can hold 9 big items, wall shelf can hold 3 big items. Both can be torn down with an adze.

Biome Viability
With the biomes being so far apart it must be impossible to properly survive since you can’t reach every resource you need, right? Wrong. Each biome (except for desert and tundra) will now be viable for survival and capable of allowing players to farm and forge iron.
Saplings, flint, iron ore, big rocks, stone, clay deposits, and flat rocks now all spawn in every biome.
Grasslands
Vernal pool - Water source
Pine needles - Can be used to make adobe and baskets like tule
Rabbit hole also spawns in grasslands
Bowl of gooseberries and onion can be mashed for compost
Spinach - Wild and dried spinach can be planted, ripe planted spinach dries into dried spinach
Swamp
Elm tree- Straight branch and leaf source
Willow tree- Curved branch source
Balsam tree - Bow branch source
Bald cypress tree now yields moss which acts as tinder
Poor soil deposit - Currently no different from fertile soil
Muskrat hole - Snarable fur source like rabbits
Cattails - Can be collected from ponds and eaten
Wild alfalfa - Can be eaten
Wild asparagus - Can be cut into seeds and planted or eaten
Wild rice - Can be harvested and acts like tule, threshed rice can be gathered in bowl and planted into dry reservoirs or put into simmering water to make cooked rice
Wild cranberries - Can be eaten or cut into seeds then planted into dry reservoirs, watered with bowl or pouch, then the sprouts are submerged in a bucket of water, the berries can be threshed off the plant and collected in bowls, the water is collected with a bucket, two bowls of dirt are added, then can be resubmerged with bucket of water to loop again, the dry adult plants can be removed with a shovel
Asparagus and bowl of cranberries can be mashed for compost
Prairie

Banana tree can be farmed similar to mango tree
If it looks like some objects look the same as others, don’t be worried! About half of the current added content has placeholder art but functions no different than it’s supposed to. This is very much still a work in progress made by people who contribute their spare time to this mod and all of the art will eventually be added.
This is only the beginning as we have much more content and mechanics planned, although our update schedule may not be as frequent. Can you code or draw and are interested in contributing? Contact us in the discord server to see if you can help out!
Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoy this alternate take to OHOL and we hope to see you around for a while!

Wow, so its not a problem because not enough people are affected by it YET? Nice. Guess i'll have to wait a few months.
Yes, that is exactly the point. You're all complaining that people have been set to Donkey Town for various murders and misunderstandings, but that is how the game is played. You don't get to do whatever you want with zero consequence, maybe take a step back and try to understand why they cursed you. Curses and unavoidable and if you don't want to be at risk, ask someone else to murder the griefer so you're not exposing yourself to potential murder or curses. Just because the curse system doesn't perfectly filter out griefers, which some people have different definitions of what is and isn't griefing, doesn't mean we should start giving free passes out to a dozen players just because they play a lot.
Im not talking about ending up in donkey town, im talking about lifetime curse score which is a broken system. slowly you'll have to be more and more and more careful, eventually you won't be able to react to griefing because of fear of getting the three curses and staying in donkey town for 5 hours.
According to the graph by Jason, about 20 players total have enough curses in their total score to be in Donkey town for five hours. Maybe eventually Jason will either subtract a specific number from everyone's scores or add it to the requirements for Donkey Town, but currently there just aren't enough people that fall into that category for this to even be an issue right now.
I'd be willing to but I wouldn't know where to start lols
Ya'll keep giving him the attention he wants by reacting to his threads so he keeps making more. If you want him to stop, then you can just ignore him and not post the replies he wants.
Stylingirl wrote:You can't just turn off being a griefer and no one wants to risk it. You hang out with the griefers, you play with them, you let them use your account to grief, make forums threads teaching people how to grief, and you are on the griefer servers. You have griefed others and hurt lineages, so you don't deserve to turn around and hypocritically call others out because you want to preserve your own lineage.
Idk how many times I have to say this but: I was getting sick and tired of 'griefers' just running up on you and stabbing you randomly, like its so fucking annoying. So, I decided: what if I could shift the tides; have people who absoulely have to grief do actuall hardwork. Steps allong the way of actually having to accomplish griefing. Things that could be detected on a somewhat easy level, though had its own fairness of complexity to it. So, I made the pitbull post, to have griefers do better things. Providing using pitbulls, a lineage would have to be somewhere far through the tech tree to be a viable target of being pitbull griefed. I specificially changed the convo of wanting to have griefers be targeting big towns. Why? Why big towns? Because I was sick and tired of being an eve, starting an eve lineage and playing in it, and all of a sudden someone would hide shit behind trees, or just randomly ass shoot or stab someone. It was my own selfish needs to have griefers to just LEAVE ME ALONE. I dont actually belive that killing big towns helps eves, but I said that so they could leave me and my eve lineages ALONE. Eve lineages dont have the resources to stop a griefer, not every person in the town has a backpack and a nife in their backpocket to kill someone who just stabbed someone. If I new that writing the pitbull post would do the VERY OPPOSITE of what I wanted to not happen, I would have NEVER WROTE THAT POST AT ALL. I wrote the pitbull post so people could stop griefing my eve lineages, let it all took a 360 and people who arnt even greifers are killing off my eve towns. I've had people tell me to just change my last name to something that people dont know, though I'm selfish in the way of how I like people knowing it..... Look, I take full responsibility of what I did in that post, I regret killing those people, I do, I dont expect to be pardoned by the entire community and marked innocent, I just never expected people to go out of their way to abolish me and anything associated with me. I mean do I have to write a post explaining why I wrote that post? Wtf is this community?
Uh... yeah, you do? Like, any person with common sense would recognize that only griefers make griefing guides? Is that really the starting point you need explained? Also I don't understand why you can't just adopt another lineage name and not tell anyone, it's really not that hard and the only reason for you to keep your current one is to receive (negative) attention.
You can't just turn off being a griefer and no one wants to risk it. You hang out with the griefers, you play with them, you let them use your account to grief, make forums threads teaching people how to grief, and you are on the griefer servers. You don't get to play the innocent card because you don't grief every game. You have griefed others and hurt lineages, so you don't deserve to turn around and hypocritically call others out because you want to preserve your own lineage.
I think needing multiple players to transport the person would solve a lot of potential issues with griefing. Players should also eventually be able to free themselves if no one bothers to upkeep the restraints, maybe for something like 30-60 seconds. They should probably also have a slower hunger rate so they don't die while being interrogated lol.
Another suggestion I heard on the discord would be making specific biomes more rare than others to increase the scarcity and demand.
I'd also like to add that I don't expect all of these changes to be considered equally or be simply implemented within an update or two. I realize that there are a lot of changes but I still stand by my belief that these are what the game needs. Even if they need to be added one at a time week by week, if this game ever wants to progress farther than people farming and sharing everything equally in tiny, unorganized, cluttered villages then I really think my suggestions need to be given more serious consideration. These are big changes and if Jason asks us for help I think we all would be more than willing to help in any way we could from sprites, to play testing, to checking code.
As Twisted already stated people are just going to suicide out of the boring biomes. Jungle would just be an hour of collecting bananas to give away since what are you going to trade for otherwise? Desert/arctic are even more useless until later so that's another set of biomes that would be suicide biomes. Basically only three of the non-communal biomes are able to do anything so a chunk of the population is just useless until late game where they'll be long gone.
Yeah but I also suggested in my thread making the biomes much more viable if they were to become a lot bigger which would fix the issue of not being able to survive in them. Biome exclusive recipes and recipes that need resources from multiple biomes also encourages exploration and trading. People who live in or near the jungle could trade in oil and rubber for example while people in badlands would probably have a higher chance of having an iron surplus and wool.
Stylingirl wrote:Twisted wrote:The problem with both suggestions is that there will always be a best biome and most people will just die until they spawn there.
There will always be a best biome, like the swamp, because there's literally no other way to survive without water and currently only one biome has a water source. It's already common though for Eves to walk for a long time or kill themselves in search for an acceptable biome border combination that would give their lineage the best chance at survival, so I don't see why that would be much of an issue.
Yes, but currently everyone is created equal so you can just go and find a good spot. If you're born with a detriment which means you literally can't see iron or rabbits or whatever, you're gonna respawn until you get the least sucky 'detriment'.
But isn't the point to not have equal opportunity to encourage trade? I agree that the invisible thing is a little too off-the-wall and that Jason's idea would make the game pretty much impossible if people didn't strategize their birth locations, but for bigger biomes I doubt people will decide there is only one meta biome and refuse to settle anywhere besides that one.
