Also being unable to curse at a young age is an annoying limitation. Why not just have a stupidly long name then - reduce your eligibility for being cursed?

That worked! It would still be nice if the underlying mechanism were patched but this is a very functional workaround. Thanks!

Unfortunately, it induces screen-tearing and the resolution/screen position are poor.  Attempts at modifying screenWidth.ini/screenHeight.ini were unsuccessful as well.

Just tested to confirm my report - the keyboard grabbing occurs once I'm spawned into the world.

At the moment, the OHOL client grabs all keyboard and mouse events meaning that the only way to switch to a different window is to close the OHOL client, terminating the game.

My current configuration is:
  - AwesomeWM 4.2-1, XOrg 1.20.0-9
     - client run with the Fullscreen option; without this option set, even using WM-provided fullscreening/maximizing, the graphics don't properly adjust resolution and tears frequently
  - OHOL (client up to date, version number isn't in front of me)
     - compiled from source using the pullLatestAndBuild script

Will gladly provide more system information or conduct local testing per request.
