5 steps to make oven base
57 steps to make a fence
not hard to figure out why
Not entirely sure I comprehend the genes thing fully. Most of the time I play the hand I'm dealt.
However, when I first started playing, not too long ago, one of the few things I lacked was those few instances where you'd get reborn into the same family you were an early generation of, and be able to see how far things have come, and see what became of your "projects", if anything. IMO this happens way too infrequently (naturally). Does this happening really diminish the "goodbye" and "every life is different" thing?
Everyone who was around at the time should be dead and things have changed so life will be different.
since baskets last forever now the first part is solved, right?
ok so, correct me if i'm wrong, but essentially the root of the problem is the abundance of grain, right?
which for some reason jason believed comes from people growing wheat to make baskets..? hence the option to use thread and only one bundle of straw..?
idk it doesn't make much sense, but then again i'm not a game designer with a vision and deep knowledge of the engine.
so, we know that's not true. i'm fairly new, but afaik wheat is mainly grown for compost purposes.
resulting in more grain than can reasonably be used to make pies and bread. (the problem for jason to understand)
and bean burritos at high water cost.
so, biofuel is a thing irl, it's not terribly efficient, nor would it have to be in ohol since it'd basically come from byproducts of other processes.
i figure a reasonable solution is to add the option to make biofuel from the grain to supplement fuel supply for water.
not good enough to be the sole source of fuel due to labour intensity and water/soil investment, but good enough to essentially use free byproducts.
i'd try and figure out how exactly it'd work, but as per jason's request this should be sufficient and a deep-thought-out plan of steps of the whole process wouldn't be useful.
either that or nerf pies/bread, maybe buff bean burritos (cost-wise)
biofuel
/thread
i was looking forward to this..
Finding another village is currently very hard, even with all the close-together spawning.
I find that this isn't true.
Especially as eve.
Easy enough to follow the signs of life/activity.
I've seen eves poof into existence just outside de facto town borders.
Not that hard as a town dweller either, especially with access to horse.
Both the frequency and distance of eve spawns should be adjusted in some way.
I don't think the scarcity of iron is why longevity has fallen (partial reclamation from broken tools might help? tinder & scrap iron/steel). I'd attribute that to the increased rate of murders and griefing.
I've starved just outside the town gates on more than one occasion, I could probably have survived if I had returned to the wild to forage instead of hoping for someone to open the gate, but I was just *done* at that point.
Other time I saw eve just walk in and I couldn't close the gate to prevent her from escaping with our stuff.
Property fences only work in an ideal world, which ours and by extension ohol aren't.
it's extremely fun to play a life and get harassed by multiple griefing eves during its course.
it happens nearly every life. it's getting ridiculous.
yet if you kill all eves, people lose their shit.
if you don't, you'll get killed or stolen from, or get griefed another way.
build a fence and they'll still get in, someone is going to leave a gate open sooner or later, no matter how many fences you build.
your mom didn't give you access? enjoy being trapped and killed by eve.
what can you do? absolutely nothing, except for hoping you kill them before they do damage.
it's becoming less fun, so much so I'm considering moving on from ohol, and I'm still to decide whether it's because I've been playing for a while or if it's due to the changes.
