Shooting something with a bow is a crafting recipe like anything else. Therefore in order to shoot something you must be one tile away.

Bears move in predictable patterns. They stand still and target someone, then charge in their direction in a single movement.

You can very easily dodge a bear if you stand still when it is still, and then move, even just one tile, when it charges.

To shoot a bear, hold the bow and arrow and wait for it to charge. After it moves sidestep one or two tiles. As soon as it comes to a stop right click it to shoot it, and then move away.

You need three shots to kill it. Good luck.

Ah okay, thanks for the info!

I bet this has been asked before, so I'm sorry if this is a repost.
A bear was attacking a very large village of ours, and everybody was trying to kill it with a bow. Every time somebody went to shoot it though, they would just drop dead. What's the best way to kill a bear and not die in the process?

Do things like items in baskets or walls/ fences ever decay like leaves do? Has anybody experienced such a thing?

I want to know because sometimes I'm left alone in a village and I still want to leave a legacy by stockpiling food and supplies, but that would be pointless if it eventually goes away.

I thought the game map was infinite with the only limit being data limitations. That being said, there are multiple servers,  but do they all use the same map?

I forgot to mention that I am simply trying to run the client, not a server. That's possible correct?

I'm currently using a laptop with unubtu 16.04 on it and I'm VERY new to Linux. I currently haven't been able to get the game to run at all, and I honestly have no idea what I'm doing.
Could anyone that knows how to get the game to run on Linux walk me through the steps? (If you need any additional info I'd be happy to let you know)

Edit: I'm running 64bit

Edit: Trying to run the client, not server.

Edit: Solution at this site http://onehouronelife.com/compileNotes.php?nocounter=1. Be sure to use the UnixSource download!
