Chinese most toxic? Have you seen Poles, Russians & Brazilians? And I'm saying this as Pole myself.

I've played with/in Russian (Guild Wars), Brazilian (WOW) and Chinese (LIF) guilds before. You Euros have nothing on the Chinese...

This is done nearly twice a week. It always ends either due to inactivity or the influx of casuals who inadvertently grief the civ into dust. There's stuff in the works though. Pop into official Discord if you're keen.

I spawned in the city again, and now that I had a good chance to look it over this time, I am sure it was the one the original poster was talking about. It is a good design, though one fetal flaw seems to be a lack of sufficient water. There isn't even a single pond inside the city and far too few wells.

Also when I spawned there this time, there was griefers there again. They killed some people then walled the city in trapping everyone. Had there been more exits, or water inside then things would of been far easier for people to get out.

Yeh lol. Originally the city was going to be built to the south where there's plenty of water, but it was moved north because the reeds and ponds disrupted the planned design. Ponds need to be conveniently located so that berry bushes and carrots can be watered. Wells ALWAYS dry up and shouldn't be relied upon unless protect and managed. The original plan was to have the wells inaccessible to the public, but that was changed. I think the main overall flaw was the unadaptability of the design. Instead of building with the lay of the land in mind, the design was done in spite of it.

Any baby of mine that doesn't understand English will be stabbed or thrown to the wolves. Hopefully this new influx is English-proficient, but experience tells me they'll likely just be griefers.

#231 Re: Main Forum » everyone attention, here will have some new players join the game. » 2018-04-18 23:51:58

If they're like the Chinese players on any other online game I've ever played, in that they refuse to communicate, then I'm just going to kill them. Hopefully they're decent people and will contribute socially, but I doubt that.

#232 Re: Main Forum » Is it a crime to kill males ? » 2018-04-18 12:08:50

Men drool, women rule. Men's value is solely derived from how much they contribute (like real life). Given women are also able to contribute, women are inherently much more valuable than men, so why bother keeping men around? Yes, there are exceptions, but that doesn't prove jack. If you're male and don't kill yourself, then you're a problem. It's 2018.

What balance do people find there is in general playing this game, between people actually achieveing things together and making something worthwhile to be proud of, and constant uggh what's the point with griefers making it a horrible experience, and worse placing their bad actions on the people doing nothing, claiming they're "begging for it" by not actively doing everything possible every waking minute to stop them doing the wrong thing?

I haven't encountered a griefer in the past 5 hours of game-time. The reason you hear so much about griefing is because it's one of the few things to complain about. The game is amazing, even though tech wise we're only around the bronze age. Regarding player toxicity, that's typically reserved to parts of the forum, and the Discord. Yes, I guarantee you will encounter frustrated players, especially as you're learning, but I cannot recommend this game enough, as you'll learn so much. This isn't a game, but a learning experience.

Dont let random words from the internet harm you smile

Ironic Nazis are still Nazis:

Emotional responses aren't bad qua reponses. Such responses at least sometimes track something.

If we can't all say that "ironic" fascists are the bad, then we're lost.

If we can't all say that fascists are bad, then we're all too far gone.

"Because people who differ from me politically are literally Nazis!"

So what if Thexus is a fascist? Unless you suspect him of any actual wrongdoing, then stop being a whiny little bitch. Last time I checked, it's the current year, not 1984...

#243 Re: Main Forum » Next Challenge: Full Population Village » 2018-04-12 23:11:09

You really need to be utilising mutton (probably in pies), pies, and composting for this to work. Berries are not viable in feeding this many people, as you'd need 300+ soil plots. This is only viable in a noob-free environment. Where did you do the maths for your farm, because unless I'm missing something, you're WAY off. I don't know why you'd want to condense 30 people into a space this small anyway due to the huge efficiency loss. I'm not sure you realise how much water you need to feed that many people either. I haven't done the numbers, but you'd probably need 60 wells. You also need to consider you'll be losing about 3-4 soil per generation.

Very true. A large portion (majority?) of the VOIP was vetting newborns to prevent griefing.

Overall, we definitely did circumvent the way the game was played (playing in a basement next to a friend would be the same). Was it cheating? No, but it was definitely cheeky. I'd like more depth added to the longest generation. My preferred solution would be the longest extant generation. Others have suggested maybe it links to a top 10 list.

I mean ...dude... did you even read the description of the game? Just goes to show that whenever you create something, someone will eventually distort what you have envisioned. This social experiment was worth every penny to experience.

Respectfully, that mission statement does not describe the game as it currently exists. It says "countless others that will come after you," but currently you are lucky if a few more come after you before noobs or griefers ruin the village and starve and your "legacy" is essentially permanently lost to the vast wilderness of the map.

I would have absolutely no problem "serving random strangers" in the sense of making things that many descendants would find useful. That seems a noble, worthwhile, and compelling goal. In fact that used to be all I focused on, back when we kept respawning in the same villages and adding on to them. But the game as it stands does not include the ability to leave a legacy in any meaningful way.

When I say I do not play to "serve random strangers," what I mean is that when I log in to play I have my own ideas and goals about what sort of things I'd like to do in the game. I don't play so that other players can dictate my goals. I don't respawn just to be the designated helper/educator of the first random player I spawn to. I don't play a game to be a slave. Especially when as an experienced player I often know what will help a village far better than the average player. I don't care if you're my mother. There's such a thing as insolent and disobedient children anyway.

Just had a game where my mum trashed the carrot farm (let about ten plots seed). In short, I was a little shit. Eventually my mum had had enough, and was attempting to grab a bow and arrow. Luckily, I was old enough to pick up weapons, and I quickly grabbed a bow and shot her while she was fumbling with the other one. I had about eight competent children, and we turned the civ around and hit end game within my lifetime (all tools, sheep, horse-carts, etc.). Just wanna thank my two brothers and children for not killing me in retaliation...

I never abandon children, and I’m an excelent bush mom.  I also feed other people’s kids who will be abandoned.  Sometimes the villages I live in run out of food because the kids overrun the place and don’t help out enough, but I still think it’s worth it.  I always show the babies around.  When things get bad I take my babies into the bush and establish new camps.  Because I’m willing to live in any situation and help other people live, I’m able to see new things and populate new places.  I even saw the apocalypse monolith. I didn’t know what it was at the time, but my son and I got to see it.

You're actually the reason the villages run out of food, don't blame the babies (although they are partly responsible also). People abandon babies when the civ is overpopulated. Only look after someone's baby if asked to, or if it's obvious you're not overpopulated. A civs carrying capacity increases over time, but if exceeded at any point, it's most likely your whole tribe will be wiped out. I do applaud you for migrating when SHTF though.

Also, I'm a bit miffed that they're obfuscating duration of best legit family. Maybe we should have top ten lists for all time and for past 24 hours.

The only reason legit families don't get further is because they inevitably get griefed unrecoverably. The current winning family got griefed twice (I believe), but it was quickly contained (aided by outside game communication). In the current meta, I've encountered masses of noobs, but I'm not sure if they're new players, or just don't look-up patch notes.

Mutton is the best storage food and produces clothes as a side-effect. Berries overall are the master food because a single decent farmer can sustain an entire large town (~15-20 people), you would need between 60 and 200 bushes though...

#249 Re: Main Forum » Genetics in game (Ideea) » 2018-04-10 13:00:05

Do you guys realise that even thinking about genetics is a dumb idea unless you've also found a good reproductive method that includes men? If you've only got one parent, then you're just a clone. The only way your idea would even remotely work would be if there was a stochastic factor that simulated gene mutation so that the genetic traits can change with each generation, but that wouldn't really add anything meaningful to the gameplay.

#250 Re: Main Forum » "Q" or im a forum user baby. » 2018-04-10 12:52:59

I'm going to abort you well before you're capable of typing three characters. What's wrong with Q? Just about everyone who uses the forum knows how to do everything. This just over complicates for little to no gain. I've only had a handful of mothers recognise Q anyway, why would I have better luck with a three character code...
