I had three lives so far today in the West town.
The first was Gen 3 as Dominik West. I spent my entire life making a ton of mutton pies. I was also the only female of my gen to make it to adulthood, therefore preserving the line. Only encountered one griefer, who tried to run off with a cart full of raw mutton pies. Got them back and the bitch starved.
The second was a nameless baby to the fourth gen of the other West family. You'd think I suicided but no, I was just born in a massive crowd that was freaking out over some idiotic drama. Everyone ignored my pleas of F and I starved in front of them.
The third I was Anamaria West, a life I just died a bit shortly in bc was chasing after a griefer. Literally starved next to a carrot lmao. I spent most of my life as a medic after finding the dead corpse of the previous one a bit south of town. I saved someone in my first five minutes from a griefer stabbing! AND the griefer starved!
Was pretty peaceful after that, til I reached my 40's...
At some point the sheep got out of the cactus pen, and me n' another person tried to lure one back in. Was almost there when some ass decided to plant all their milkweed right where we were working and make it impossible to lure back, even though we were almost done.
Tried to stab the bitch and hit an innocent by accident. Luckily I could explain myself to the gathering crowd and someone fed me before I starved. I let it go after that, eventually we got rope and caught a lamb to bring back in, and fixed the pen. Wasted a ton of time on it though.
After that it was just one griefing after another. Someone dirtied all the pads, started stealing shit like buckets, tools, etc. and hiding it, lured two bears into town, etc.
Someone stabbed a baby and claimed it was bc the kid was a griefer, something about the bears being lured in. Others seemed to know what they were talking about so I didn't save the kid [couldn't anyways, someone wasted all my pads on babies during the bear attack].
Started getting the sheep bred again for wool for more pads, and mutton for more pies, when one of the bears we lured off earlier came back. I was in my 50's so I figured I'd drop my stuff and lure the thing far enough away to not be a bother.
Unfortunately I didn't think before dropping my medic apron with the knife in it. Guess my fleeting thoughts figured one of the workers nearby would grab it and continue on.
I lured it south towards more useless biomes like far-off deserts and snow, but the damn thing completely vanished. Idk if it was lag or what, one minute I was luring it off, it went off screen, and I never saw it again. The only thing nearby was a mouflon.
Si I shrugged and wandered back into town to continue with the sheep.
Lo and behold, some nameless bitch of a cousin had picked up all my stuff, including the knife apron and my backpack with the needle/thread in it. And ofc, she starts stabbing people. I died chasing her, hoping she'd run far enough to starve before she could get back. I doubt it.
Long story short, the place is a fucking grief fest. I don't want to go back.
No clue, but I've noticed it too. The last full life I lived was in a town with mixed nameless and West bloodlines. And the life before that, me and a male cousin were just talking about how the town was basically dead bc I was too old for kids and the rest of the youngsters were male, when an eve spawned in on top of us.
It seems more common now fsr.
Honestly, if you can find a patient person willing to teach you something new, that's usually the best route to go. They might be few and far between, but once you find them, their lessons will stick with you for awhile!
I remember a few specific lives in which someone kindly showed me how to do something. A few bare basics came naturally after watching a few videos prior to buying the game, but bigger things like Smithing took a few attempts and the kind guidance of an elder player to finally sort out.
I personally rarely have time to teach, but when I do, it's when a run is doomed to fail [no more fertile females, for example] or if I'm born to a village with a big enough population and establishment not to need me working. I'm also happy to have people shadow me when working and learn from observation.
I'd definitely use OneTech if there's any recipes you're curious about, but there's also a lot of smaller knowledge that you'll gain from players as you go. Like how to pick fruiting milkweed so you can get seeds from the debris. Or to not waste kindling trying to keep an early fire going before you have an axe for firewood. Or not to eat big-food items like Omelettes, Stew, Pies and such until your hunger bar is bigger, so you don't waste them when smaller items like Popcorn or Berries would fill it.
To my nameless family
I was born to a nameless eve in the middle of nowhere. She seemed to decide to keep me, and I figured I'd stick around, if only because sometimes being the daughter of an eve can be similar to an Eve run itself. She fed me pretty regularly, but still didn't name herself.
I finally got old enough and asked multiple times for a name. Eventually she grabbed me and deemed me Evil [short for Evilyn]. Apparently I'm evil for wanting a name. Great! Not that it really mattered since no last name to pass on, but hey. Better than nothing.
I ran off after that. Glad to see she died to a bear, clearly she wasn't getting anywhere given her success rate with children. Or maybe they suicided. I nearly did.
Being a pseudo-eve, I made a basket and got my sharp stone, and headed into the unknown. Usually my goal for these kind of runs is to find a suitable camp spot before I start having children, but I usually have to sacrifice my first few before I do.
This time was different. I found a pretty decent spot fairly quickly. Patch of desert, some ponds nearby, a big grassland close at hand. It was a bit of a run to collect things, from what I remember, but it was the best I could find on short notice.
Had a daughter, who suicided, then a second one that stuck around. I'm kinda annoyed at myself for not having given her a name. I was so focused on getting the eve camp running that it slipped my mind. By the time I went back to name her, she'd grown too old. But then, its not like I had a family name to pass on anyways.
We had a a farm and iron tools going by the time I died, I think. I don't remember a whole lot of the later years in that life, had quite a few that day and they blurred together a bit.
I'm surprised to see yall made it to gen 13. Probably one of my longer reigning runs so far, at least from an eve/daughter-of-eve. Proud of y'all! Unfortunately it looks like the bad success rate with children ran in the family, but definitely made it longer than I'd hoped. Best of luck next time!
I was Caci River, your daughter!

I honestly don't remember a whole lot about the life, had quite a few that night and they all kinda run into each other.
I think that was the run where there were like, a dozen goose ponds south of our camp, a few screens down? I remember there were dozens of eggs and omelettes. Pretty sure I kickstarted forging our first tools, made an oven/kitchen area a bit south of the forge in desert to keep the area less cluttered, and got wheat and carrots going for rabbit-carrot pies since we had plenty of rabbit piling up.
I also remember Hermes, I think, feeding my kids at the fire. It was a busy life and an important gen to start becoming sustainable, so I didn't want to juggle kids as I worked. Felt kinda bad given I'd pop one out, name it, then drop it by the fire. But hey, he took good care of them, fed them popcorn til they were old enough to pitch in.
My final run to the swamp to get adobe for the oven was my last. Didn't realize how short I was getting on time and had no chance for goodbyes, so ran through camp with a simple "bye" then tried to make it somewhere out-of-the-way to die. Don't remember if I did.
Tried getting born back into the lineage a few times but never made it.
while i fixed pen and waited granny to come with sheep but she never came and even lost the bow and arrow from only milkweed we had
I was Eve that run, very sorry about losing the bow and arrow. I had to travel a good distance just to find a mouflon, ended up accidentally shooting it before it had a baby, then had to travel even further for another. Was like half way back when I ran out of pie, bolted for what I thought was the nearest savannah, and starved next to a carrot.
I almost never starve while out in the field so it was really upsetting. I should've brought more pie. Or just not accidentally shot the first mouflon v.v
Also it was my first time building a sheep pen, not sure if I got it right. I was trying to remember what I'd seen in finished pens in the past and from what I'd read here. Saw you fixing it up before I went hunting, I'll try to remember that for next time.
Pity the run ended short though. It seemed like a decent spot, and was pretty well established when I spawned in. I'd even been born there in a past life, to the Flower family. Maybe next time.
I had that happen once briefly yesterday as well. I was born almost right next to a bear and snatched away last second, and appropriately nicknamed Lucky. But the bear was acting weird. My mom was trying to lure it away, but instead it just ran diagonally back and forth over the same few tiles, then suddenly rushed us.
Pretty sure mom died to it trying to lead it, and I died shortly after.

He done did it!
Blessed lord and savior Jason, thank you for answering our prayers ;w;
I abandon babies that won't stop moving around. I told one of my babies "then die then" when he wouldn't stop running away from me and spamming F.
Are you sure you weren't too old to breastfeed him? I've popped out babies right before hitting that age before, and some characters barely show a difference when they reach old age. Also, some babies aren't smart enough to spell out "O/L/D" or they might be too close to starvation to do so.
I have thought about putting a distance measure on the home arrow. It's not hard for me to do...
That would be a good idea tbh. At least then we'd know whether or not following a bell would lead to interesting finds or just death.
The game can be very lonely at times, like the universe. It's a big place (700 jupiters), and getting a message that someone is out there... and they just called me! I heard the message.
Yes, but not a very useful message. Currently it's more like: "Oh, someone else exists and has an advanced city! Buuuut there's like a 99% chance that I'll never see them in my lifetime because they're probably lightyears away. Ok back to farming."
A distance meter or lowering it to a certain radius would make it more exciting and meaningful. That random bell that likely just ends in death just turned into a possible journey!
Sometimes they are closer. I have followed a bell and found a town.
You can get a rough idea of how far away a bell is by walking perpendicular to the direction of the bell and seeing if the arrow changes at all. If a bell is very far away, the arrow won't change as you walk around.
But yes, it can be a trans-generational trip.
That's not the point The point is that it shouldn't be a multi-generational trip. I don't understand why it's allowed to be such, and have still yet to receive an answer as to why it will always be that way.
I know the whole perpendicular trick. But how far do you walk perpendicularly to check? What if it's close enough to reach but too far to be able to check quickly? Do we spend half our lives walking perpendicular just to check and find out it isn't, thus having wasted a majority of the life?
It's currently a worthless function if you want to spend your life doing anything but run. And almost nobody wants that. But it'd be the complete opposite if we knew, from the moment it sounded, that it was within reach by foot. Might be close, might be far, but reachable all the same. It'd also give a big step in the exploration side of the game, which is virtually nonexistent atm.
What about giving another indicator of the distance? Like the darkness of the arrow or loudness of the sound. In person they could tell the distance by the loudness.
Even this would at least be a step in the right direction. Because again, logically we'd be able to judge a distance by the sound. Or not even hear it at all. And as a game that seems to want to lean towards realistic instead of fantastical concepts, having flawless hearing for a bell thousands of tiles away doesn't exactly fit.
No seriously, I just spent three lifetimes following them out of pure curiosity. They were all males, and born to either a blatantly dying town, or an overpopulated one.
Each time, I started as soon as I could grab things, the bell having rang during my infancy. They've all ended in my 50s-60s with not a glimpse of a town in sight. Sure, I crossed a few patches where someone had been. Goose ponds with eggs, flowering cacti, a sharp stone or a broken basket. But never making it to point B.
They shouldn't be able to be heard from a distance that's impossible to traverse in a single lifetime. It completely defeats the purpose of having them, unless that purpose is to lure curious/bored players to their deaths.
Are these ever going to be fixed to a specific radius or is it considered one of those "Its part of life lol deal with it" problems, like griefers/murderers?
I personally also found it through Youtube, sometime last month. It popped up in my recommendations and was there for a good while before I finally clicked out of curiosity. As someone who enjoys survival games, I thought it looked interesting and had a unique concept, so I got it.
Might be related to the fact that I watch a few Minecraft youtubers regularly, and it's a [vaguely similar] survival game as well? Idk, never looked deep into how Youtube algorithms work for recommended videos
Tbf, most decent people [myself included] ask first before borrowing or taking any important item that seems to be in use. But if I see a tool or cart that I need for something laying around with nobody clearly working with it, then yeah I'm gonna grab it lmao.
Welcome to the game tho.
Jk Howling wrote:I remember that town. I was born as a West there- Warrior West to be exact.
I am pretty sure that was a different town.
This topic is about town trinity i think.
Both had two West familys tho
Huh, maybe it wasn't. Conveniently similar events though, if that's the case. Massive berry farm dying out, town itself starting to starve, nobody working on compost throughout.
Its probably a common occurrence though.
I was Warrior!
That story really touched my heart. Getting to read the backstory, where you came from and everything. Glad to have met you in this life, I feel like it completely changed the way things went down.
What would've happened if I hadn't found you and Eve? My mother seemed determined to turn me into a murderer this run. Hell, her first words upon me spawning were "Do you want to join the militia, and fight for our honor?"
I was thinking something along the lines of a police force. Something to keep the peace, defend the town from outside threats like snakes and bears, to take out any griefers before they do too much damage.
Instead she pointed out the other Wests, of which we bore no relation, and told me they were invaders. That they were evil. That we were going to war.
Sure didn't look like war to me. Everyone was working hard. Nevertheless, she found a bow and arrow laying around, grabbed it, and said she'd train me to take out these foolish invaders.
I honestly thought that if I'd said no, she'd start shooting. Seemed best to go along with it, or at least appear neutral. She died pretty young too, and her dreams of chaos died with her.
After burying you and placing my arrow upon your grave, I settled in the fields and stayed there until my death. I tried to find your reincarnation in my last few years, but couldn't find hide nor tail. Didn't know if you died earlier, or ventured off back towards your previous home, or just weren't around.
I think I made it back to your and eves' graves before I passed. I passed on your hat and shoes to a youngster in camp, and asked someone to bury me near you two - my true family - before I faded early to starvation.
Was a beautiful run and story, I hope to see you again in another life!
I remember that town. I was born as a West there- Warrior West to be exact.
Interestingly enough, my eve was still alive when I was born there, and there was a second family of Wests that were completely unrelated to us. Everyone in my own family died out but the other Wests must've lived on.
I remember this life well because when I was born to it, the entire berry field was just starting to die, there weren't any carrots growing, and they were desperately making regular rabbit pies because they had a lot of it on-hand.
I personally planted and grew a 4x3 [meant to be 3x3 but I accidentally tilled a fourth row oops] plot of carrots up to the north, along with a 3x3 plot of wheat, for compost. Used the last of the compost we had up there to do so.
I even used the last of the berries in the field to make a final batch of compost to get the berries going again. For more compost. Its an endless cycle oof.
Have y'all tried the town to the [ironically] West? Its a bit smaller, but easier to manage. Last I checked it, there was wheat growing and a more manageable berry farm, plus iron tools laying around and an empty sheep pen. Not sure if water was around though, I only popped in to snag a few plates for the endless supply of pies.
"A Public Public Service Announcement - Now with extra publicity!"
Oh, I think I know the town you're talking about! I vividly remember the layout, with the 3x3 medic field and a sign locked to the corner. The berry field was literally a tile left of the entrance.
Digging through my recent lineages, I was David Power not that long ago. I very much remember the medic hut.
But I mostly remember it for the experiments they ran there. The "doctors" kept grabbing children and stabbing/shooting them, then trying to stitch them up. The first three died, until I stepped in from tending the berries to explain they were missing the step of pulling out the arrowhead.
They finally successfully healed a child [and dubbed me head doctor for a short time] before I went back to the fields.
Nice to hear the town's still going, I was only generation 3 but it was massive already.
Would be kinda interesting if albinism had a side-effect while in the desert, since they tend to have a bit more of a sensitivity to strong sunlight. Maybe they walk slower, or their hunger goes down faster [only when on desert tile / their temperature gauge is hot?]
I haven't been able to find any up-to-date guides for really anything, but picked up a couple tips along the way. For the most part, starting off isn't much different, same concept as it has been for awhile.
Tips I know of:
-The best place to set up has three keys:
-Large grassland nearby with food sources for pre-farm era, trees for kindling/fire tools, soil pits, milkweed.
-Swamp with goose ponds [the more/closer, the better!] and some clay/reeds. Also has useless trees for future firewood. Watch for boar!
-Desert to raise kids/work in camp with minimal food loss. Nearby cacti are a bonus, as they're good to fall back on if food gets low. Also has useless trees for future firewood. Watch for snakes!
-I've noticed people start to plant things in 3x3 plots, leaving room for paths, water buckets, and dirt piles along the edges/in between plots. Also keeps massive resource-draining berry farms from popping up. I've seen places die out because they rely so much on the berry farm, but drain the wells too quickly to upkeep it.
-Most of the beginning of the game is about the same as it has been. Basket+sharp stone. Find good spot, build kiln and fire, make bowls/plates, start early farm [a few carrots for early food source, bunch of berries for long-term, milkweed if the area is low on it]. Hunt rabbits for needle and clothing. Scout around for iron for the first tools. Start on sheep pen.
-Farming aside, omelettes are good for early-game food. They fill a massive 17 pips, and only require an egg, flat rock on coals, and a plate. Down side is they're not very portable, but v nice for adult food when around camp.
-Try to keep your kids instead of abandoning them while searching for a spot to settle. They can help a ton once they can grab things. Might be a bit slow having to compensate for their speed, but they'll make up for it in later years. Even the boys, since as previously mentioned, you get a worker who doesn't have to worry about kids.

I was just born to the Forget family again- directly from my own lineage! I was my own great-great-great-great-great nameless grandmother.
I'm ecstatic, never had that happen before!
I was known as Rocky, and spent most of my life trying to keep the berry farm running, and making some pies.
Someone cut almost all our wheat without picking seeds, our hoe broke, our fire went out, two bears broke in and I nearly starved distracting them while the arrows were made to kill them, someone started murdering people..
It was crazy lol.
tbh there were so few people when I was around, between the bear and the killer, I decided to stick around. Fed the sheep and got another round of compost going before I realized we were nearly out of wheat, and had no hoe to plant more.
In the last half of my life, a nephew was running around with a bow and arrow, looking to kill his mom. Not sure what for, but he didn't threaten anyone else, so figured it wasn't for no reason.
Another nephew [maybe the same, can't remember, he was nameless] asked for someone to shoot him with the bow and arrow. Since I was almost 60 anyways, I stripped naked and obliged.
A medic kept trying to save him but he dodged their attempts, and we both perished.
Not sure if there were any females around by the end of it. Hopefully the Forget family continues, and the eastern outpost gets built on a bit more. Sorry I missed it a second time.
I just died of old age in the Woodstock family, and your lineage lived on! The queen during my lifetime was named Gorgeous, and she seems to be your great grand-daughter.
She was a pretty fair ruler, from what I'd seen. We had some idle chat, she asked how I was doing, and eventually gave a knife to my mother for me to use during my life as a doctor [I was even named Dock!]
Her last daughter- the intended queen- had been accidentally stabbed during a sheep slaughtering. I arrived too late, hearing the death scream only moments before she passed away.
She died during my 40's I think, passing the crown onto a little girl of our family but not of her own lineage. I don't remember her name unfortunately.
The new queen seemed to be ruling alright when I finally passed from age. I returned the knife I'd been given to her, requesting she pass it and my medic apron onto the next doctor. Said my goodbyes, and headed towards the graveyard to die near to where I'd buried Queen Gorgeous.
ngl I was wondering if that was the family I was born to, since my mom took off east-ish and never looked back, not even sure if she noticed I'd been born tbh.. Was curious if that was you.
Turns out it was part of the same family, but was one of your distant cousins haha. Sorry to say I saw this a bit too late. Lived my life in the city, mostly making pies and helping forge the screen full of iron we had.
Not much rly happened during my life. A bear wandered in and killed a few people before wandering away. An unknown griefer bothered us for a short time, turning the adobe for the forge into bases, making our tongs into unfinished bellows, that sort of stuff.
Wish I'd seen this earlier, I would've headed east and expanded. Then again, all my kids starved even though they were literally surrounded by food.,. so I doubt we would've survived very long.
Hopefully someone else sees this and strikes out for the outpost, would be neat.

Yes, that seems accurate. Perfectly encompasses what I meant by this. Perfectly.
Sad to hear the town got crushed by griefers, it had such a nice start too.
