I see it as a waste of a valuable shovel. The space is fine. Its when some idiom burys all the bones breaking both the town shovels, and stealing all the flat rocks from the smith i have a problem with graves as they are.

If having graveyards is an important thing, we need different ways to mark graves,or flat rocks need to be way more common, and a reduction in steel cost to dig graves (down to zero for an unmarked grave).

I like the dowsing rod idea. Willow branches incoming!

But it would add a learning curve to an already difficult process, and require you to find a swamp first.

Mabey saplings?

Running water audio que?

Tough stuff

I have always wondered if ohol is Jason’s full time job, or does he just do it when he’s not doing his other job. And if this is his full time job how does he make his income since this game has no micro-transactions (which is amazing!). There’s only ever been 150 people max playing at one time and maybe a 1000 people every week. It would be great if Jason let these stats show.

According to here and steamspy he sold about 65000 copies, most for $20.
https://onehouronelife.com/forums/viewt … 889#p47889

That's about $ 13 million. Let's say he can keep 50% (Tax, Steam, Server, Website) and still has $ 7,000,000. It is probably more. (Steam keeps 30% and maybe some taxes.)

I'm pretty sure he's a pizza delivery guy in his main job ...

Correction thats about 1.3 million over the 4~5 years he spent making the game (most of which were before release so he has grossed 6 figures per year worked at this point

Jason isnt known for acting professional and thats why i love watching this game grow.

I feel like he reads more of our feedback than he lets on but if the man did everything (or even just some) of what we suggest he wouldn't have time to eat or sleep.

I was mad at changes when i bought the game loved it then it changed but over time ive come to see this is as much a video game as it is a work of art.

Its jasons vision we didnt pay for the game we paid for server access, and to watch the game develop.

Im 100% certain he sees most of our feedback, but he is a one man squad. Just community management is a tough job for one. Let alone the coding, drawing, server maintinece, ect.

Alot of times he just throws shizz at the wall to see what works and i think thats fun to watch personally.

In my VOG survey yesterday, I didn't see anyone interacting outside of their own family....  11 isolated families.

Tarr:  are you aware of any additional global coordinate (or long-distance relative coordinate) leaks?  Toxic was hinting at some.

I know that you could potentially look at patterns in the map itself, but beyond that...

It happens mainly in the twin/triplets/quadruplets eve scenario. Its fairly uncommon for another family to contact you but it does happen.

Toxic is right Jason, the curse changes benefits no one besides griefers, even if players do somehow manage to maintain fences. There are still mods that tell people exactly where other towns are and towns that already have mixed lineages and you can't tell who your relative is createss situations that are easily taken advantage of. At this point you should honestly just ban the most notorious griefers because they don't add any entertainment or drama to this game, just annoyance. It won't spark wars or feuds, it will only encourage single killers that destroy towns.

Ban griefers. Not the best of ideas. Griefing is a part of the game I have no idea why pit bulls were added, if they were added why we can make them mean pit bulls. Why snowballs could kill in the past. It was encouraging grifters. Banning grifters won’t result in anything. If this game represents real life then crime is a part of real life. And if grifters have more skills then normal player it’s too bad for you.

If 1 person can a kill a town, that does NOT deserve to live

I’ve personally fended of many grifters when I’m not griefing. We had a twin griefing party. I stabbed one and when. The other one healed his friend since they had hidden pads somewhere. Then he tried to stab me but I got away, then I waited till they stabbed someone then I healed that person and stabbed the grifters, it’s whole point of having dedicated guards. If village use dedicated guards griefing would not be easier. Guards aren’t useless.

Griefer cant spell griefer.....

#48 Re: Main Forum » Ideas for resource contention » 2019-04-23 19:17:30

Resources have been a touchy subject for a long time even before decay.

In towns a year ago before sheep pooped and when you needed a full bush to make compost you got stabbed if someone saw you eat a berry. Ever.

When only seeding carrots used soil, and wild carrots respawned seeds. you could get stabbed for the possesion of a dug wild carrot.

Burying bodies will still get you stabbed and up until the last update planting potatos got you killed because it uses iron.

Some people get stabbed for eating a carrot because "thats for sheep"

If you use the last bucket of water from the steam well without refilling the pump you can get stabbed.

Resources are, and have always been contended. I dont know where anyone gets off saying they arent.

Now if you mean why dont two familys fight over resources. Its because we are all to far apart. Or if we get close together all of the people just move to live in the better town.
