Something like this would be possible for OHOL:

I was thinking about funny ways for a camera to work in the game, and it reminded me of this.

maybe optionally, the tile based way works better with the building up, it has a more strategic feel
i generally like 2d games with a 3d aspect, i think they call isometric 3d
like stronghold had this turn camera 4 sides (messes with compass i guess) or tropico has similar turn and fix, zoom in and out
i think you should really allow people 1.5 zoom at least, decent setups, city walls are easier to be seen
it's annoying but kind of understandable why people toss everything on every free tile, so they can remember where they are in the world
maybe a mini map with a fog of war

Playing OHOL optimally is like cosplaying a cactus: stand still and don't waste the water.

The point is that the current presentation is just one of many possibilities.
Most obvious is a 90 degree rotation. Redraw the map so that North becomes West, etc, and keep all the sprites billboarded (facing the camera). The only thing that breaks if you do that is walls/fences (which have orientation). 180 degree rotations don't break anything. This is a way to "see behind trees."

FPV + shrooms = yes.
I'm one of those spoopy roleplayers your mothers warn you about before they tuck you in at night.

Wooah there jason, I don't think adding this texture pack will help any sales. Enough people think this is Don't Starve already!
