Even in cities, Kids die in their 20s.

But to be fair, Casual/New Players probably don't have zoom-out.  You can barely see your surrounding, Finding food is a lot harder for them.

I've been seeing a lot of Ziv families, Seems like you're doing well enough to me. Focus more on the kids that live than the ones that die.

Eh, Modded servers never last for whatever reason.

So you died but got reborn to the enemy and killed by your own army. Nice

I was alive during the war but wasn't involved in the slightest. I was chilling as a baby when I saw about 3-4 people proclaiming they were going to war.  Saw them smith a couple of swords, grab a bowl of pads and leave town.

I never saw them again and I don't remember names but I'm wondering if that was the war you speak of. I never saw them again and everyone but I forgot about it pretty fast.

Man, I worked hard to help build that plane. Took like 3 generations of different people dedicating their lives to build it.

You where Sunny I presume, The foreign lady that I could only understand through the radio.

It hurt more because we already had one close call from the other guy. He managed to find more fuel and return the plane, 10 seconds later another random dude steals the plane.

I went from super excited to pissed off so fast.

#31 Re: Main Forum » Finally got radio contact between towns. » 2019-06-12 08:32:08

So Ludd town died out and we built the plane, Then some jackass stole it and didn't return it....

The honor system isn't a thing in this game

Spent two lives messing around with radios in two mega-towns. First Life I finished off batteries but failed but didn't get any signals, I'm surprised they lived to be a mega-town in the first place. In the past they had no water, society collapsed and almost everyone murdered each other. One girl lived and I was able to get oil pretty much done.

So I died of old age asking people to check for signals. I spawned into rainbow mega-town and saw I just needed to switch them to high frequency, Had to find some copper and make a new draw plate to get the wires. As soon as I did, We actually got people on the other end for once. Had one son but he died young and a daughter who ran off.

Someone told me they were coming after I rung the bell for them. Though I died of old age before they reached us, Hope they make it. Nice to see some people actually enjoying themselves in a mega-town for once. The rainbow town is close to building a plane so hopefully, we can give peins road a run for it's money.

#33 Re: Main Forum » What Problems Do You Encounter When Trying to "Do It For the Kids"? » 2019-06-03 10:29:20

Mostly the problem is not actually caring about babies most of the time, You don't really have a reason to unless you're the last female. In a big city you have like 10 other females all popping out babies just like you, most of which suicide, die early, even the ones who live are rarely useful. You don't usually interact much with your kids after they grow up.

About twenty minutes later you see a daughter you don't remember having feeding your grandkids who are secretly hoping to get your clothes.

TL;DR  I would care about them if their weren't so many of them.

#34 Re: Main Forum » My First Week in OHOL: A Newbies Perspective » 2019-06-03 10:16:02

I kill whistling babies if they don't stop, Most of the time people will thank you but you still get idiots cursing you and stabbing you back. Today I had two of them at once, The first one I killed without an issue but they healed the other one. Second kid was just copying the first guy but I still feel he didn't deserve the heal, Least he was only salty at me for about 2 min and he wasn't annoying after that.

Some eight years old stabbed me on slowdown but I was healed.  She called me bad for killing babies but later stabbed a woman and then told me to "kill her", I did gladly.

For the most part, annoying babies won't be much help when they grow up.

#36 Re: Main Forum » I Mixed Dungeons and Dragons with OHOL. It Was Interesting » 2019-05-29 01:31:07

What happens if one or more of you is lawful good but the other chaotic evil?

#37 Re: Main Forum » The sword is just plain racist. » 2019-05-28 09:39:55

I strongly agree. No peaceful alternatives, Being friendly bites you in the ass down the line instead of the other way round.  People build fenced towns, killing eves on sight whether they are aggressive or not.

I've seen co-existence but only in towns with no war swords. It can happen but a bloodbath is never far off.  I've had experiences being sworded at birth because my mother was an eve inside a town, dickheads yoohoo'ing at me as I bled out.

#38 Re: Main Forum » irrelevant updates/content being made new/better » 2019-05-28 02:52:57

+1

The trailer implies you're meant to build pine huts pretty early on and buildup a village from there. But in reality, buildings are so hard that most towns only do one proper one, even with all the benefits to buildings now.

#39 Re: Main Forum » In your opinion, what is the weakest aspect of the game? » 2019-05-25 14:58:07

The late game in general, Lot's of useless technology and very little challenge besides dealing with griefers.

I hate that the trailer has a lot of stuff that seems like we'll never get at this stage.

#40 Re: Main Forum » Thoughts on eves on town? » 2019-05-24 06:02:35

I would personally rather them settle elsewhere because even if they themselves are good, their descendants may not be.

#41 Re: Main Forum » The Murderous Starr Family » 2019-05-22 11:53:44

So your Eve run failed and you decided that nobody else should be allowed to have success if you can't.

Would've have been a better idea to try and kidnap one of their girls. Don't make shitty excuse's, You weren't forced to grief.

#42 Re: Main Forum » What we found from 30 years/minutes of exploration. » 2019-05-19 10:34:37

Probably for the best that you didn't find any living towns, People usually kill outsiders on sight nowadays.

#43 Re: Main Forum » How to make swords balanced » 2019-05-18 14:43:39

The sword slowdown with the option of dropping is good.....

But one can pick it back up.

I spawned right next to a nice road that leads me straight into town, Was walled but gates were left open. I was worried because old guys with swords came up to me but they never drew them, I got some nice clothes so I didn't seem as much like a wild eve straight from the wilderness. I had my first kid Juliet who learned a lot of their language.

At that point, she warned me some guy wanted to kill me but I avoided him as I did compost. Not fighting back meant an angry mob not did form, I had some more kids while I dodged the one guy. After a while he either died or gave up, My kids were able to speak to them so tensions eased. I lived to get many kids and grandkids without too much violence.

In my old age, there was apparently an attack on one of my grandkids but still the majority of the people where accepting. It gets easier as generations go by and languages are learned. But then again, One dick with a sword can ruin the peace. But then again, Killing the one who murdered and not genociding his/her entire family that were minding their business is an option.

I think the other family may be close to dying out, It felt like we stopped being the minority at some point. Nothing wrong with peacefully conquering a city.

#45 Re: Main Forum » Very goofy idea: Time Travel (don't take this too seriously) » 2019-05-16 13:52:45

What about a Cyro machine that keeps your guy alive until you log back in. Probably too cheaty though, Depends how easy it'll be to get to that stage.

Going back in time could be a future apocalypse method though.

Another idea is in-game purchase of extra lives.

This is already a thing in the form of alt accounts, Most experienced players I know have alts for living multiple times in towns. For me there isn't much joy in doing things that only my kids benefit from, aka randoms that beg for food and clothes. Let's be honest, In-Game babies don't love you and you don't love them in reality.

I think old age chaining is the way to go, If you live to 60 you get reborn to that lineage straight away, Until you quit or die of anything else. You start with an Eve camp/Village and you play throughout the generations going up the tech tree and doing long-term projects, Other people do the same and you become closer as you keep living together. Other people see a place that is actually decent and want to stay.

People used to care much more pre lineage ban and decay updates.

#47 Re: Main Forum » Jason Made My Playstyle Meta - WARMONGER META » 2019-05-15 03:39:32

I admit that trade still seems impossible, I tried once to go into a foreign town with a bunch of notes but not much came of it. But I've yet to actually be raided, one time a foreigner killed our mouflon but he was stabbed and that was the end of it. Apart from that one incident people seem content to stay within their own town and occasionally look at other settlements.

There isn't really any incentive for war either, You gained some tools, food and steel bars. Nothing that couldn't have been done normally with less risk involved. In the end, you guys died out anyway.

#48 Re: Main Forum » New update's question » 2019-05-13 13:19:34

I haven't had any luck finding anything other than failed camps so far.  I did get two clothed guys come into my Eve camp with horses though.

#49 Re: Main Forum » Found a few knives whilst looking for iron and milkweed. » 2019-05-13 10:41:16

Free steel, Nice find.

I feel like this update has made Eve life easier, Can cut corners by salvaging tech from ruined towns.

#50 Re: Main Forum » One benefit of swords.... » 2019-05-12 13:59:01

Not really, Turning steel rods into swords is the next big griefing method. Poor engine makers.
