Gene score restrictions over tool sloth drove me away from town restauration, and in general, from caring about towns.

Used to be able to fix the farm, get iron, make food, get sheep and water all in a single life. Including the necessary tools like buckets and carts while caring for my kids.

Now to do that you need several lives, even if you have the maximum amount of tool sloths possible. Not worth it unless you play a lot.

Nowadays I do more roleplaying while making small contributions. Doesn't make memorizing the entire tech tree worth much.

I go the exact same way.
Is it a bad thing, or is it just getting "older" ?
Well, the kids (new players) will eventually figure out what the town need and simultaneously got a purpose, giving their life a meaning too.

Making a fire? sure but why would you make 10+ fires in a life? especially that everyone is keeping up a fire?
Why would I want to make 50 wheels? I'm not that azrael yet.

Maybe some tools shouldn't be counted in tool-slot.
At least the Flint-tipped Bow Drill should be merged with the Bow Drill tool-slot.

I agree with you. But the "sexiest nature of the game" / bad values promoted because of a game mechanic are not "unpopular change". These were in the game at the very beginning.

You claim that you want some FUN content, and I agree with that. I proposed some easter eggs (true ones, in chocolate from a Jungle biome new tree), but I was told that he focus on fixing bugs first. It makes me a bit sad. But I can wait. I will be patient. At some point, if the fun will no more be in for me, I will quit the game for some month, like I did once, until some new content come.

Jason don't have to improve the game every week. There is no contract between him and us there. We bought a game, we play some or more hours. But that's it. There are plenty of games that didn't get more development or on which most of us spent much much less hours and won't play anymore. I fear that the game may be "finished" as it is, without more content added. I wouldn't approve that, at all, but it's a simple fact (I said may be).

Firing bullet at Jason will not improve the feelings he got with the game and the player base or the will to improve his own game. Who am I to judge him ? He released a good game, I played it for hours and enjoy it. That's it.

@testo :
To some extent I agree with you, testo. I may have been to harsh on Spoonwood and maybe we started off on a wrong foot. But still :

No, I don't love the game.  I think it promotes bad values, and I've said that elsewhere also.  I've also encouraged people to stop playing the game permanently, as you might infer from the title of one of my posts says, if you care to look.

I think that this statement, encouraging people to stop playing, is not constructive. At all.

*yawn*

"The game need this and that. I'm not happy with the game as it is."

Since I'm not a total moron, I'm sure that if I don't like a game, instead of complaining like a douchebag, I will promptly leave it and do some other thing. But it's just me, I don't know.

A good baby is basically afk. You don't move, you don't click, you don't talk. Maybe you make faces at mommy. That's it. If you jump out of mom's arms you're not getting fed. If you run around a lot you're not getting fed. If you try to use babyspeak you'll get fed but nobody's listening.

Agreed too, except the absolutely non-moving part : you should move from & to fire to keep the best temp.

Sorry if I hurt your feelings there, my intention was only to find an appropriate name to define what you do when you make what you call "analysis". Like the sausage-thread-quoting-cutting.

But you're right : I should have kept it to the thread subject, and have this exchange with you in private.

My apologize to Coconut.

It costs iron to dig the pit and fills up too quickly.    Complete waste of time, considering the dead babies will decay naturally if left on the grown, costing you nothing but patience (and a high tolerance for ugliness).

As for infinite babies, obviously the simple answer is to keep mother and baby together, like the wild mouflon    Instead of having the baby split off and wander away from the mom automatically, keep baby and mom as a single unit until fed.   Feed the sheep to allow the mother and baby to split up and the baby grows up.

Domestic animals could even cycle between baby and no-baby states, just like their wild counterparts.    There is no reason for the constant dead baby animal spam.   It looks ugly and is not necessary.

I like this elegant solution for the babies part : the lamb can in fact stay with the sheep until it's sheared or fed.

But for the dung part, I still think you can use the trash pit from time to time, a trash pit to remove all of it. It may uses a shovel (10% chance) but at least the pen is not fill with dung.

Nice bullshit Spoonwood smile

Please don't speak for Jason or try to understand what he means when he wrote that, cause you got it wrong, again.

Here's a question ... why do baby sheep die of starvation?     Why not allow the babies to live indefinitely like the adult sheep.

If a non-worn sheep escape the pen, it will poop new babies all over the place. Babies that can't be killed.

The solution may be : build a freaking trash pit in the pen, and put everything you don't like in it.

And tada !
You got free space.

If you are not specialized on that biome you will just get just a few of that resource out of there. The races that are specialized on there can go there with a cart with rubber tires without any problem.

Oh I didn't understand you well, my bad.
People will then have the horse waiting at the entrance of the biome. But I think it could work that way, since you will consume a lot of food while wandering in it.

But if you can't go accros your non-specialized biomes with a horse, you will waste a lot of time while travelling, going around, or looking for waystone (and then the horse may go wild and flee away)

#43 Re: Main Forum » Sheep needs a change » 2020-04-07 13:48:22

Is it a bigger problem than water shortage ?

I mean, it looks like it is a small issue, not a big problem.
To me it's like saying : we need pile of 12 bowls instead of 6 cause we have too much bowls and not enough space to work !

Well, make space, use a shovel, make a bigger pen, make a second dung box.

We do have solutions. Not perfect & not ultimate for sure, but we do have them.

I'm not sure if you really though through it, did you ?

#45 Re: Main Forum » Sheep needs a change » 2020-04-07 13:29:10

We can work around this, with a box of dung and bucket.

Some time ago in a distant downdate, we were able to kill anyone on sight.

In one of my best souvenir, I was the last girl born, my mum was killed by a wolf or a snake, and my dear uncle was the last person alive in our small camp. He fed me, as my mum ask him to do when we ran together to the center of the camp. He was really old, and worked as a crazy man, to provide some tools for the next generation, until his last breath, litteraly.

And I was a lucky mum, giving birth to four or five girls. Population in the camp started to grow up. Sitting at the fire, breeding babies and taking care of some food from time to time, I told my daughter the story of their grandma and my uncle.

One day, for some reason, one of my girl shot me down with a bow, when I was around 30 or 35, claiming that it was an accident. I didn't trust her but when I saw my daughter diving in argument, instead of taking care of the babies or the farm. My last words were "I trust you", for the sake of the camp.

At this time, you didn't need the mob to follow you to commit murder. And best stories emerge from that.

I would be glad if the possibility of killing people on sight remain a thing.

I agree with miskas : if poop is the issue, sheep doesn't need a third stage.

It's the poop that need a special treatment. Decaying faster looks the easiest way, or maybe make something usefull with it, like fuel / kindling-like.

not stackable : raw meat, berries (outside of a bowl) branches, skewer, below, cactus fruit, clothes, bottles, ...
