a multiplayer game of parenting and civilization building

We have letters, maybe we need numbers? For a trade signs that can be put into property boxes? But that means we need a key to lock the signs from the inside.
I welcome every change cause game is too stagnant. It will force us to find other towns.
I think all towns in time will evolve into multi-racials rather than we trade with each other.
What about multi-racial family? Like when we have an outsider with different skin tone (male) next babies will be born mixed, if this male say some formula (like you are/you own for names and gates), so he can demand something in exchange for his uhh service?
Funnily enough, because of the griefing potential, I have a feeling trading will be even worse than before (if that's even possible). If you trade for X special biome resource it will be very easy for a griefer to snatch it and run into an inaccessible biome. There's no easy way to recover from that, so every village will be required to have one of every 3 biome fams.
That's why we finally need to start use properties as storages.
I do like colonies, but now that babies spread per family will only hurt them.
Hmm, true.
I think if we just get some bell towers built it'll fix that, though.
Right! Forgot about that.
I never played without rift before. Now it's better because things we build will last longer, I'm just complaining about danger issue.
In rift we had many griefers and killing, like... constantly. And problems with resources. It was too much. But now everybody lives happily, help each other. Sorry, but game gets more boring because of that. I lived like 10 lives and they were the same, I helped build town, almost nothing happens, not many difficulties.
No danger - no fun. And how you guys feel about it?
What is the present purpose of this game? Having kids and stay alive is super easy, towns are safe. Expanding them more and more? Set up colonies?
I saw it, thanks. Clever about hunger issue.
I just got banished to donkey town. I played nice, lalalala, and then it happened!
Why I didn't hear the curse signal? We hear it only when we are near to that person?
And who cursed me... ;( IT'S IMPOSSIBLE! I stabbed girl who griefed, but her mother approved it. I did nothing wrong. It's a bug! H-E-L-P!
You may not be aware of this, but berry pies are one of the worst yum foods available.
Shit... I didn't realize this. I also didn't remember that domestic mouflon can pop babies all the time.
This game is too complex to remember everything!
Plus the time - I sometimes just put mutton on pies cause we need any food, not variety, asap!
The best solution is to have someone to work as a cook and don't interrupt that player.
---
Maybe put ! when sheep has been killed?
That way we can know when griefer is taking lives of our sheeps.
Yeah, I watched all of his OHOL videos, the best ones more than once.
I don't have time for Twisted 1h vids, but some of them are good.
Towns thrives even after pro griefers, so they don't receive their end goal (killing whole town), they just slow things down.
Make sure to build fences for horses near town center, stash all bows/arrows in one place (boxes). Everything must be near each other to be well guarded when griefer appear.
Genetic score counts for almost nothing and relies on having competent players as kids. You can spend almost all your life with a new player, teaching and taking care of them but leave them for a few minutes and they die, bringing down your score.
How about assign best players to best moms, everything based on genetic score? This will naturally distribute players to similar playing people.
Pretend to be fellow griefer too, become 'friend' to griefer. Tell everyone about griefer's plans. Backstabb griefer, mass curse him/her.
Make sure you know who's medic and that griefer won't be healed.
So now is the time to do crazy shit in this arc, because it's probably the last one? I'll do my best then. ![]()
I really appreciate mother still named her babies. lol
Why there is the same icon for whistling and when someone trying to kill?
The arc ends because Candys run out of females. I was one of, I think, three last girls from them and I went with my sister (we wanted the apocalypse happen) to invade the south town (brown family). We died and someone finish the ones in north town.
@PeebleCreek - so that's the case with doors! Thanks for explanation.
What the advantages of having a property to not having one?
For example a storage. Today my mom retrieve stolen engine, I was then holding a cart with engine and kerosene, just to keep them safe while she was working. Before her death I promised I'll think of something, so I build a small fence and store the engine there, luckily mom came back as another kid and completed the diesel well.
will I need a market table? (fence box) How will I inform other players of what I sell and what I want?
Yeah, I think fence box and make sign with letters.
Sadly, it's takes too much effort to make things like: ropes (for properties), letters (for information). Also fence must be renewed in corners, so it means running to other side of fence. Eh... That's why we're stuck with making foods/water/slaughter in villages, because other things takes too much effort and gives no equal fun. I like idea of properties.
3. I agree that sometimes people take down things too fast, but what also happens is someone got to build half a wall in a random place and then didn't come back to finish it after.
It's ok to grab materials from rather abandoned or silly projects, I just wait some time and look if someone don't work on it.
4. IMO the fire should never be inside the kitchen or smithy to begin with. Move it somewhere else (the nursery or medic station, usually) so you have a place to gather/talk.
Why not inside, or near, kitchen? One fire serves three places, mothers need sometimes good food from kitchen so I think it's best when they are right next to it.
---
I also agree about 3 pie's in bpacks. That's why when there is enough clothes and time I grab bpack and place three different foods inside, then give it to kid and try to teach him/her about what to eat and when. ;P
1. boxes
Don't make boxes right next to door or directly at someone's path (like from fire to oven in kitchen). Take time, observe and think where you need to place them (and how many)! Don't make too many boxes next to each other without space, forcing players to run more than they need.
2. reorganization
I often see that someone takes off the door, another player put them back on, someone takes them off again.. And it's not about improving doors. Is it griefing or what? Leave things as they are! Many people have different taste what should be done/improve and your work probably will be reorganized as well.
3. devastation (griefing?)
Don't take boards/stones from floor. Don't smash walls. You are wasting tool. Someone placed them with a reason. Someone want to build cemetery - fine! Someone want to start building walls - fine! A house - fine! Fence - fine! It's better to have something than nothing (as long as if it's not like in point 1.).
4. crowd
Don't stand and do nothing or chat in veeery crowded place, especially when it's kitchen + fire with babies. People need space, and with crowds it can get too laggy.
5. rush
Don't immediately stab the killer because you wanna be a hero. Especially if the person is not running or he/she says something. Ask WTF happened.
OHOL is trying to represent life as much as possible, war is natural state from time to time.
Great idea! I love wars.
My most emotional and fun gameplay was when we invaded another town. But other side should get notification that war has started. And if someone want to make an ambush - just send soldiers before declaring war and they will wait for notifications, like (seen only by their side) - 1/3 elders declared war.
Another thing is gates. Shouldn't both families get access to their gates when they declare peace (other family will count as your own)?
And automatically lose it when the war started? Imagine the desperation to get the hell outta town before someone close the gate. ![]()
Could males have a slightly higher tool limit than females?
Yes! Please!
Let the person who deals with the berries have a random chance of growing a wonderful shrub that gives more fruit - suddenly the bush begins to glow and you get the message: "You have grown an improved bush. You are a qualified farmer."
Maybe something like that - when player reach age of 40 or 50 he/she became master in specialization that allows to do one extra, cool stuff?
Gogo wrote:I prefer family tree than table with players.
OHOL has family tree too. -> http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … 51DD9F1AE6
Click on a portrait to see the family tree of the character.
Oh. Thanks!
So instead of expanding tutorial or change something in tool tips a game itself would be a tutorial. Clever. ![]()
Number of slots is most important, not too many, but enough. I think most players will choose one slot for a weapon. My own favourite gameplay was rather frequently change of 'profession' to avoid boredom. But I like this idea of slots very much, it will refresh the game.
What will encourage people into professions would be more 'uniforms' perhaps.
Mothers should now pay extra attention to what's goin on in town, role of sexes would split a little, single workers will be asking for teaching more often.
Rocks shouldn't be considered tools, what about fleeing from war and need to establish new village quickly, with only few people?
Overall thanks and I suggest you guys to get used a little to any change before criticize, I didn't like rift at first, but now I'm cool about it.

I'd like to add that zoom mod will be now necessary.
I had a conversion with this person. He or she complained it was not worth to build it (it took 3h), because track-cart have too little capacity, it's too slow and we can't make a wagons with two carts put together on one tracks.
What annoys/bores me and sometimes forces to quit the game (especially when it's combined
):
1. mess in towns!
Stuffs should be placed on piles in 1 square, like 6 rabbits on 1 pile instead 6 rabbits everywhere! Etc.
2. stealing / griefing
If I gather things for work, people just took what I put on ground. Property fences aren't used for properties (because of too much hourding). I'm not gonna spend half of my life on running for stuff, because they robbed me again and again.
3. slow tool tips
I don't like it from beginning, I don't learned much new things, the ones I do I just googled.
---
4. no social life for boys
Usually no further interaction with family after being a baby (if I don't care about them - what is my goal then?). I always skip being a boy, which is no good, because I could work to make them stronger by build more / craft more for them.
Oh, I saw today two people chatting about it. The fast runner said you must text "I join you" when he tries to kill someone, but instead he hide the weapon. Then they got speed bonus. At least that's how I understand it.
Try to kill someone with knife, instead hide the weapon. Voila.
